    The East

The east side of the city is often considered the heart of Sacrosanct. It's here were the majority of the shopping district can be found, deep in the heart of downtown. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often times, new comers to the city may be come overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever present feeling that's hardly noticed. The streets of the east side are frequented by all species as many companies are housed in the sky scrapers and hole in the wall establishments that line the streets.

    Downtown

The city has a unique skyline, clashing between modern sky rises and small victorian storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however.

It's not the long walk home that will change this heart, but the welcome I receive after the restart.

The vampire walked solemnly under the streetlights, his pace brisk and his tall, lean frame hunched forward somewhat with his balled fists buried deep in his pockets. Like most of his kind, he could feel the cool sensation of the dropping temperatures, but it didn't affect him in any way really, or at least not in the way it made humans and others shiver or layer up. Perhaps it was out of habit, and an undying effort to fit in that he walked in this manner, as if he was bracing for the cold just like anyone else. Nevertheless, Dareios was still beaming. He smiled widely to the few souls who passed by on the damp sidewalk. Most of their faces were barely visible under scarves and hats, and chins tucked into high collars of jackets.

What he didn't expect to see, however, was the silhouette of a young girl standing under the lamp light a few feet in front of him. The vampire stiffened up as he approached, narrowing his beady eyes and furrowing his brow as he got closer. It was late for a little girl to be outside, all by herself. But as she came into her view, with her porcelain skin and blonde locks and big blue eyes, he felt deflated, as if she'd sucked all the air out of the... well, corner of this neighborhood. "No." He said sternly, shaking his head and pressing forward, his pace quickening. "No, no, no, no." The powerful vampire girl had tricked him once, but he wasn't about to be duped nor succumb to being a pawn in her mischief again.

It was strange. He thought about her often after their last run in, which ended with the unconscious runner in the park. He could tell from just the glimpse she'd offered at the time that she was far older and more powerful than he, which of course, made him apprehensive of her. Compounded was the fact that she so willy-nilly attacked an innocent human in public. She was not the kind of company he wanted to keep. But Anna-Marie had left a lasting impression, it seemed. He worried about her, for the sole impact of her abilities. So much so that he actually asked around about her in his more decadent circles. Plenty knew of her. He was urged to tread carefully.

Despite his attempt to walk away, there she was again, now firmly planted in his path. He peered down at her deceivingly innocent face, in her charming wool dress and buckled shoes. "Yes, and I know you too, Anna-Marie." He said matter-of-factly with a clear scowl on his face. He swallowed hard as she mentioned she'd seen him publicly. His gaze shifted from her to the barren streets. "It's my job." Is all he said, and breathed a heavy sigh. "What is it you want this time?"
