    The East

The east side of the city is often considered the heart of Sacrosanct. It's here were the majority of the shopping district can be found, deep in the heart of downtown. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often times, new comers to the city may be come overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever present feeling that's hardly noticed. The streets of the east side are frequented by all species as many companies are housed in the sky scrapers and hole in the wall establishments that line the streets.

    Downtown

The city has a unique skyline, clashing between modern sky rises and small victorian storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however.

The boys determination to bang his teething ring against the table with undue force momentarily saw the violet gaze of the equine return to him. Hmm, perhaps there was more of his Father in this one then the stallion had originally perceived, a momentary trace of amusement at the child’s antics touching his features before his attention returned to Nadya and the story she seemed content to share in relation to her own family. He hardly needed to peer within her mind to achieve the knowledge that this was hardly a story she delighted in telling and indeed perhaps she was much the same as himself in that regard. Pity was something he did not appreciate in any sense of the word- it was a useless thing and by that extent he makes some effort not to offer any in her regard with a mere acknowledgement of his understanding all the same. That a vampire might desire to keep a panther as a pet was- unusual, though why they would seek to destroy an entire pack in pursuit of it he hardly knew, he evident pride in her brothers subsequent escape hardly missed as he merely offers a nod, lifting his own coffee to his lips.

“Your brother and I have more in common then I perceived. What of the Leopard though, how does he fit into this tale? Was he, too, a pet of this vampire?”

He offers no more in regards to just what he finds himself to have in common with Tetradore, asking instead after Tobias, after all, Nadya’s pack was a bizarre collection of beings and one the equine is determined to understand, especially if such information was going to be offered so freely- the man displaying a rarely seen curiosity in the other members of Nightshade. It is only fair, he supposes, that he might be expected to offer something in return and yet for the barest of moments his irritation in being asked becomes apparent, lips tightening slightly in disdain, a gesture covered quickly by lifting his cup once more. The details of his past were hardly secretive, more so he simply finds no pleasure in recalling them. It is with some measure of reluctance he answers the woman’s questions all the same. If she was willing to share something of her past then for the sake of the peace that existed between them and his more ultimate desire to keep the feline for himself he is willing to offer as much in return- if only to sate some of her curiosity and foster some level of trust within her. Her quip in regards to the age of the woman sees his lip quirk slightly all the same, a soft snort exhaled in response- her words good natured and as such he offers no rebuttal, for now. He had become….used to older women in that regard, they were always older, at least at the start. Perhaps his own Keepers had been of the belief the more experienced women would teach the less experienced boys- it was one way to do it, he supposed and yet one he rarely cared to think of.

Nadya’s assurance that her curiosity was hardly satisfied seemed to follow only a string of other questions, more then Frost truly remembered ever having been asked at once, long fingers drumming against the wood as the woman seemed to voice his very thoughts from before shoulders lifting in a loose, callous shrug.

“I am sharing these things with you entirely because you asked and because denying to answer them would hardly help my case, I’ll admit to that.”

He chuckles softly, entirely content to admit his motivations in this, Nadya surely aware of them all the same. If offering some indication of his past further endeared the woman to him then so be it- he would, though of how much he was willing to say and of which parts of the story he is content to leave out remain to be seen. Her mention of his ‘stalking’ and the trouble he had caused for her pack brings no response from the snowy-haired man, features content to remain expressionless until she asks after his pack and whether or not he holds an actual career.

“Yes I have a job Naja and yes I have a pack. I have a large house in the Village, my pack lives with me there. You may not have seen me with them, but I spend a lot of time with them all the same and I know where they are if I need them or they need me. We spend most evenings together as a pack should.”

His shoulders roll in a loose shrug once more, answering her questions and yet remaining vague all the same, unless she presses for more the man sees no reason to offer her exact details. He is hardly a careless being after all, her allegiance still lays with her brother and as such he sees no need to confirm either the number of his pack or the exact location of his house nor entirely what he does for work and where. A stuffed horse suddenly launched towards him sees the stallion shift, one hand lifting to catch it as he simply frowns, eyeing the child momentarily, the girl evidently determined to seek attention as he moves to hand the toy back towards her, leaning now slightly towards Isabella before unfolding his hand- revelling the large brightly coloured butterfly resting on his palm.

“A new trick.”

He murmurs the words to Nadya, though his attention remains on the now wide-eyed girl, her hands reaching eagerly for it, fingers no more than grazing its wings before it erupts into a shower of colour butterflies that flutter and circle around the kitten- her shrieks of utter delight attracting the attention of several other patrons as the young man simply smiles softly. That rarely seen tenderness touching his features, if only for a moment, fingers flicking lightly to send several of the butterflies to Micah, letting them flutter above him and just out of reach as he too becomes equally enraptured and the mans attention returns to his companion, the children now satisfied. It takes several more moments before he sees fit to answer Nadya’s final question, a soft sigh escaping him all the same, this topic of conversation clearly not one he enjoyed.

“Yes Naja, I’m not so heartless as I appear. I miss my Mother greatly, I miss my children and my extended family but I cannot go home. It is not so simple at that. I was…..born behind a barbed wire fence in a place controlled by a Hunter organisation of sorts, born and bred for a purpose, or so they would have me believe. I was led to believe I had only two choices in life. Either contribute to the creation of more of my species or work with Hunters in the field as a ridden horse involved in military work and no doubt be killed eventually. I desired neither, I argued against it and they do not look favourably upon such creatures as myself with the intelligence to question. There were a number of…..incidences. I escaped, by chance, though they have hardly given up pursuing me. They still have my family, they know I will go back, eventually- I simply intend on being prepared when I do.”

One hand moved to lift, teasing at the silver-hued amulet about his neck, features frowning slightly at this decidedly brief overview of his own existence before moving to finish the last of his coffee. Content to leave out what these ‘incidences’ may have been.

“If you have questions then ask them, but I am not fond of recalling my past, surely we should cut this cake.”

It is a loose attempt at distraction though he offers it all the same. Hoping indeed this would sate the woman enough, though well aware it surely prompted more questions than answers all the same. It is however, surely the most....honest he had been with another in regards to entirely what his past entailed.
