    The North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high class victorian architecture. The streets are paved with stone, the buildings are made of brick, and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting. In the North every establishment is made to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - weather it be illegal or merely looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allow them the luxuries that the North provides.

death incarnate & night triumphant

The unnatural hue of Matteo’s eyes was rather unsettling when he so called upon his affinity. Andras was certain it was something he would never get used to, nor did he plan on asking about his future once more. There were things that were better left unsaid and knowing about events prior to them happening could change the course of life so drastically. He was content to remain in the dark. Not many people would like to stay that way, yet he had walked this earth for well over a millennium, he knew better than to toy with the forces of nature while they were at work. Yet, he can’t deny the curiosity that so grasps his attention. Just what could this man see? He decided then and there that this enigma before him could see, well, everything. Andras found that he rather enjoyed this man’s company, his amusement that so seemed to coat his expressions when regarding Andras. Not that the monarch minded, it was nice to be able to be addressed in such a way that he wasn’t reminded he had a court to look after. Though, that hardly lasted long.

The admission that his father had wanted Matteo to join him in their court has Andras arching a brow in surprise. It was difficult to imagine Matteo under the rule of any court, let alone the Shadow Court, he seemed too much of a wild card, too free spirited as his sister once was. “I can see why the two of you didn’t get along,” Andras states, offering him a half smile. It was true, no one refused his father, the exception being his mother. Offering a small shrug, he could still feel that pleasure that so courses through the pit of his stomach that someone had denied his father. As the conversation shifts to his mother, his brows furrow in a frown as he describes her years of depression, locking herself away before the birth of his younger sister. It was a tough while for them all, no one knew how to help her and she seemingly got better after a time, returning to almost herself. That fire within her simply did not burn nearly as bright as it did before.

As Andras finally arrives to the question that he had come fore, he can’t help but go deathly still as Matteo admits that it was one of them that did it. He had suspected, he had merely hoped he was wrong. Nonetheless, he’s thankful for the honesty the fellow faerie man affords him. As his mind fires off at a mile a minute, as if he could somehow summon forth each and every individual of his court and picture them, remember every interaction he had with them. It almost brings on an immediate headache so the Monarch simply pushes it away, he would figure it out later, for now, now he needed to be honest, to show a little trust and faith. Andras is entirely uncertain at first, demanding that Dorian be left in the dark before telling his tale, hardly surprised by Matteo’s admission that he liked surprises. He’s thankful when there isn’t an ounce of anger within the man’s eyes, instead, he seemed to be assessing him.

The first words that leave Matteo’s lips has Andras almost slumping in relief. He trusted Matteo enough that he wouldn’t spill this secret to the world, simply because their race was already a dying breed. Hazel eyes flick upwards as he catches that red hue again, Andras’s brows furrowing slightly though he doesn’t comment on it as Matteo offers words of wisdom. At the mention of Dorian, Andras provides a small smile, dipping his head. “I must meet this Sebastian, he sounds rather fascinating,” he comments with a soft chuckle before leaning forward in his chair, “I can be patient, believe me, I would have gone nowhere in life if I had not been,” he admits readily as their conversation comes to a close. He quickly apologizes to the Fae man with a dip of his head, only to blink in surprise at his response. He truly was an enigma and he knew better than to press forward with questions; he would only be left in the dark and that much more confused. “I would be delighted to show them to you sometime, perhaps even bring you to my city. After things have settled down, I think I can arrange something,” Andras promises quickly, not wanting to deny Matteo to see Somnia.

He leans back in his chair as Matteo simply disappears, only reappearing a moment later with a drink in his hand. Andras eyes him amused when he offers him a drink, the Fae King shaking his head as he pushes himself to a standing position. “No thank you, I have some more business to attend to. Thank you for the information and for your time. Though, perhaps I will take you up on your next offer, I did rather enjoy this meeting,” he laughs darkly, quietly before he dips his head towards Matteo, dismissing himself from the room. He had come with one question and received a slew of bits of information, it had his brows drawn down in a frown. He had some sorting to do. Pushing himself through that door, he finds Dorian quickly, gently patting him on his shoulder, quietly explaining he needed to return home to process everything he had learned. Apologizing, he excuses himself, stating he would share such information soon.
