    The North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high class victorian architecture. The streets are paved with stone, the buildings are made of brick, and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting. In the North every establishment is made to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - weather it be illegal or merely looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allow them the luxuries that the North provides.

Miya poured over her books. She had been researching about mythical creatures since she had found out about Arlo and almost all the information she found was useless, legend, stuff that wouldn’t help her. She was certain when she arrived in the library earlier that week, the librarian thought she was out of her mind. Then again, Miyako wasn’t entirely sure if she had gone insane yet. Sighing quietly, she rubs her tired eyes, her empty mug on the other side of the table. She had chosen the largest table in the coffee shop and she was sure the baristas were none too happy she had taken up the entire thing with books and writings but she didn’t have enough room in her apartment. Plus, she didn’t want her roommate finding out that she was researching him.

Leaning back into the chair, she slouches, rubbing her exhausted eyes before she glances around, noting that there were only a handful of people left. Glancing at the time, she hadn’t realized how late it had gotten or noticed the sun completely vanishing behind the skyscrapers. Standing, she stretches her arms over her head before she begins to gather her notebooks and pens, shoving them all in that messenger bag she constantly carried around. The bell rings as a new customer arrives and Miya glances up, taken aback by the costumed people. Blinking, despair suddenly falls over her as she realizes its Halloween.

How could she have forgotten?!

Stifling a groan, her chocolate eyes dart back outside noticing the street packed full of people. Sighing, she pushes her chair in and wipes the crumbs from her pastry into her hand and deposits in the trash. Maneuvering her way carefully around the costumed couple, she steps outside into the brisk night air, only to be swept up into the crowd. Not fighting it, she goes with the flow, attempting to not touch anyone, she had to go this way to get home anyways. Reaching into her bag, she retrieves a pair of gloves, slipping them on to ward off the chill as she keeps her head down, thinking of everything she had experienced in recent events.

As she mulls over Arlo, she’s so entirely consumed in her thoughts that when she gets to the crosswalk, she doesn’t glance up to see if she could even cross. Stepping out onto the street, there’s a honk from her left that draws her attention, her head snapping up as she stumbles backwards right into another woman. The small Asian entirely misses the way the driver flips her off, instead she’s turning around rapidly to glance at the girl dressed… dressed in a Tinkerbell costume. “Oh, I’m so sorry! I didn’t hurt you, did I?” she exclaims, her cheeks burning with embarrassment as she glances at the blonde-haired woman.
