    The North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high class victorian architecture. The streets are paved with stone, the buildings are made of brick, and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting. In the North every establishment is made to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - weather it be illegal or merely looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allow them the luxuries that the North provides.

Kathryn Quinn Murphy
I bet on me and my own heartbeat

Really, it was a poor decision on her part that going into a bar would be a good idea on any ground. Kathryn wasn't shy, actually, she was quite friendly, but she wasn't outgoing enough to just introduce herself to a group of people. Baby blues glance over at a table of woman who look to be just a little older than herself, they are all laughing and smiling causing her own lip to twitch upwards slightly as she contemplates approaching them. But, even as she wills her feet to move, they stand firmly against the solid ground beneath, as if her body was mocking her for not actually having the guts to just introduce herself to tight knit group of people. So, she just continues to stand at the doorway like a little lost lamb unsure of where it ought to go without a Shepard to guide the way.

Maybe she ought to get a drink? Just sit at the bar? But then she would look like that loner girl and would just be inviting any weirdo guy to come up and talk to her. Kathryn had never been one to comfortable with attention, whether the attention was good intentioned or not. She would much rather just go out with her best friends and they would dance the night away and walk home with their heels in hand laughing about all the events of evening that had occurred. She wasn't good at this, being the new girl. The only time the title of new girl had ever been handed to her had been in elementary school when she moved. Kat went to junior high, high school, and even college all in the same town, under the comfortable roof of her grandparents, surrounded by her best friends.

This was unchartered territory.

A big guy, much much bigger than her own slight frame, comes blundering over to her after having slammed down his drink. If possible, those bright blue eyes grew even larger as a thin sense of fear glazed over them. This wasn't going to be good. He leans into her and Kat feels her heart race in her chest as she attempts to look tough, but Kat trying to look tough is like when a puppy growls, it just comes off as more adorable than anything else. He reaches his arm around to grab her and she pipes up, “Get away from me,” she says moving away, her emotions running all over the place with fear for what he would do to her and anger that he would behave this way in a public place. A strong gust of wind rips the bar door open, nearly throwing it off its hinges as he breathing quickens.

Before Kathryn can unknowingly start a hurricane outside, a man moves form his seat and speaks on her behalf. As the man’s eyes look to him, Kathryn’s own of bright blue follow suit as she takes the moment of distraction as a chance to get away, moving towards the man who had so courageously spoken up for her. She grabs his arms with gentle hands. “Oh, there you are, I didn't even see you when I came in,” she says smiling nervously at him, hoping the creeper would get the hint and leave. Kat leans towards the man’s ear and whispers ever quietly. “Thank you.” And she smiles.
