    The North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high class victorian architecture. The streets are paved with stone, the buildings are made of brick, and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting. In the North every establishment is made to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - weather it be illegal or merely looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allow them the luxuries that the North provides.

Kathryn Quinn
I bet on me and my own heartbeat

Kathryn had never been particularly rebellious growing up. Maybe it had to do with the fact that her grandparents had raised her, or maybe it just had to do with her nature, who Kathryn was at her very core. Sure, there she had stolen the occasional bottle of alcohol from the cellar of her grandparents, and yes she had partied with her friends on rooftops, or out by a kid’s absentee parents’ pool, and of course she had lied, saying she was working on that science project with a few of her friends, when really she was sneaking out to the movies with that boy that her grandparents said ‘was nothing but trouble.’ She had done all of these things, but Kathryn had never downright defied her grandparents or took off from home never to return (minus the time she ran away from home when she was six because her granddad wouldn't let her wear her granny’s makeup to school). Kathryn was a good girl. Her teenage angst had taken the form of quitting violin and choosing football games or her boyfriend over family game night.

Nothing her grandparents couldn't handle.
After all, they had already done it once before: with Kathryn’s own mother.

As his pinky encircles her own she finds herself grinning. “Pinky promise it is then,” she says, pausing briefly before speaking once more. “Remember, you cant break a pinky promise, so if I hear word gets out about my foul language…” she draws off widening her eyes and shaking her head as she lets out a puff of air. All hinting to mean ‘watch out,’ though it is clear from Kathryn’s size, bright blue eyes, and vibrant smile she harbors no ill intentions even if she wanted to.

Laughter touches her lips once more, as soft and as tranquil as snowflakes on eyelashes, as he asks her how she is not a chronic drunk, his own smirk holding fast onto his features. “It has always been tempting,” she says, sending her own smirk onto her lips. “The whiskey business, it get old fast though,” she says attempting to be serious for a moment before laughter presses onto her lips, signaling she was most certainly joking. “Just kidding, it never gets old,” she states as she downs the rest of her glass before setting it down gently on the counter. Blue eyes watch as Taylor empties his own drink before turning around to face her. She props up and elbow and rests her head on her hand, focusing her attention on the man and what he may have to say about his life.

A smirk climbs onto her lips as he asks if she’s one to jump into the deep stuff. “On the contrary, I do in fact like to dive right in,” she says, smiling the all the while. “I even bring my own diving board,” she says, her grin turning impish as she listens to a brief summary of what brought him to this town. “Well you certainly ticked the box of all of the above for reasons to get away,” she says removing her elbow from the table and leaning back slightly. “Me?” She questions before running a hand through her long, dark hair. “Well you know, it was the typical needing to move on from a town I lived in practically my whole life after college. I’m doing my Masters online so I can do it anywhere,” she gives a small shrug. “My dad had business at one point in Sacrosanct I guess, my grandparents said he raved about how fascinating of a city it was…almost magical,” she says with a smile. “I had to find out for myself.”
