    The North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high class victorian architecture. The streets are paved with stone, the buildings are made of brick, and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting. In the North every establishment is made to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - weather it be illegal or merely looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allow them the luxuries that the North provides.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

Despite how utterly insufferable he, at times, found the ivory steed to be, there was a certain care afforded to the man's efforts to ensure the saddle was not entirely overwhelming. It was surely for the benefit of the equestrian but also for the simple fact that speed could hardly be afforded to them with such weight so off balanced. He was, at the very least, practical in every sense of the world. Nevertheless, the Dark Hunter hardly even considered how touching his actions might seem, instead climbing onto the back of the horse with an ease afforded solely to those who lived and died within the saddle. A gentle encouragement to move forward was all that was given to the equine, his own gaze entirely settled upon the mountain peaks in the distance. He was, in some aspects, surprised with the expected bucking didn't come - at least for several paces until that familiar tensing of muscles beneath him instinctively saw his own body to prepare for what he was certain to come. At least, Frost had given him no reason to anticipate otherwise thus far and indeed his eyebrows slowly rose as the creature instead returned to his steady pace. Alexander could hardly help the way in which his eyes rolled, his tone entirely dry as he responded, "You got me."

Alexander was certainly not oblivious to how peculiarly content his companion seemed to be, especially considering how sullen and irritable he so often was. Still, the dark hunter hardly asked after it if only for the simple fact that it was very possible that bringing attention to the man's mood might shatter it completely. Frankly, he preferred this contentment to the cantankerous demeanor he often dealt with. He had bigger problems right now then to add his companion to that list. It was that which caused the Macedonian King to fall into silence as they continued to move through the cold, silent, ivory landscape that surrounded him for as far as Alexander could see. The tree line slowly begun to give way to an expanse of ivory. There was no break in it, just nothingness upon more nothingness with nothing to utilize to seek shelter from the elements. It was surely this which kept this small coven separated from the world at large and too their victims close to whatever village they occupied. Franky, he surprised word had ever arrived to the hunter council to send anyone in the first place. A soft exhale was all that was given towards the arctic world he found himself staring at before he encouraged Frost forward and onto the plains.

He was hardly surprised when not much later small flecks of snow began to coat the expanse before them and yet he hardly spoke a word on the topic. It was the steady falling of the temperature that so disturbed the Macedonian King. The temperature was exactly why Alexander despised the northern continent. The wind whipped through his layers of clothing till even his core felt that creeping sensation of coldness. He shifted ever so slightly, drawing his elbows closer towards his body in a rather feeble effort but as their time went on, that coldness too fell. Alexander was well aware of the nervous shifting of the steed beneath him, one hand reaching out to pat the horse's nape as he uttered softly in his native tongue, "Ήσυχο, Frost. Θα είναι εντάξει." What he hadn't expected, however, was the way that warmth suddenly seemed to embrace his form, chasing off the chill that had so threatened to overcome him. It had caught him off guard and yet, despite Frost's words, Alexander found his head bobbing ever so slightly. "Thank you."

He fell back to that comfortable silence, instead focusing entirely upon their location in the increasingly worsening snow storm. Alexander fished the strikingly low-technology compass from his pocket, checking their position to ensure they remained steady in their direction. His gaze was still settled on watching that needle when Frost's words entered his head, informing him to what he already knew was sure to come. A soft grunt was all he gave his companion, adjusting their position just slightly to the right before allowing Frost to continue onwards through the onslaught of sleet and snow. It took another hour still till the found the base of the mountain, a soft sigh of relief leaving his lips. He'd intended for them to find some place to settle and camp, preferring to find the village during the day when light was on their side to offer them the advantage. His head rose ever so slightly at Frost's utterance, his own blue-green eyes surveying the blackness around them.

It hardly took long before he found the figure that stepped forward from the darkness, a small frown marred his features as the man stepped closer towards them, clearly intending to ben taken as a threat. He was hardly surprised by the warning ax tossed in their direction, the man hardly flinching as the axe collided into the mountain behind him. Alexander reached out his hand, immediately feeling the solidness of wood in his fingertips as the shaft of a spear was brought into existence, the top of such a weapon tipped in silver. The weapon felt entirely comfortable within his grasp, being an extension of his own soul. "Be still." He uttered to his companion, his body rising ever so slightly from its position upon Frost's back, getting enough room to throw the spear with sizeable force at his opposition. If all went well, that silver tip would cut through fabric and flesh, the wooden hilt akin enough to a steak that this encounter could very well end right here. That, however, would only lead the dozen or so vampires that existed somewhere behind this lone sentry.
