    The North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high class victorian architecture. The streets are paved with stone, the buildings are made of brick, and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting. In the North every establishment is made to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - weather it be illegal or merely looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allow them the luxuries that the North provides.

The gentleman who sat beside her was different. She couldn’t quite put her finger on him. Something told him that he was probably rather important to the city if he needed body guards in order to get around. However, that did not help her identify him. Perhaps it was the way he carried himself, the drink he chose, or some other distinguishing features. He wasn’t a strange man, per say, he was just different. Amelia didn’t mind in the least bit.

She sipped her wine slowly, introducing herself as Amelia and hoping that he would introduce himself as well. Dareios. Interest name, but he seemed like a decent fellow. She finished off her glass of wine, looking at the bartender and ordering another.

Silence filled the room and it was beginning to feel awkward. While Amelia had never been a shy woman, she was a little shy in this situation and she didn’t know why. With Troy, things had come easy. She had opened up to him and fell in love – things that were typically hard to do. Maybe it was because she was in a relationship now that made talking to men so awkward.

Determining not to make this encounter as awkward as it was already becoming, Amelia took another sip of her wine for confidence before she slowly turned in her seat to look at him. “So tell me Dareios, what do you do that requires you to have armed guards?” Surely it was an interesting profession if he needed body guards around the clock. Had she really cared about the politics of this town, she might have recognized him.
