    The North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high class victorian architecture. The streets are paved with stone, the buildings are made of brick, and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting. In the North every establishment is made to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - weather it be illegal or merely looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allow them the luxuries that the North provides.

It's not the long walk home that will change this heart, but the welcome I receive after the restart.

"Scotch, please. On the rocks."

The vampire doesn't hesitate to bring the drink to his lips. Scotch wasn't really his choice of poison per say, the vampire had acquired a distinct palate for wine over the centuries, but he was in the mood for something stronger. Something stiffer. The burn of the liquor seemingly wakes him up. Alcohol was, after all, one of the only human-like pleasures he could still indulge in and actually enjoy. So the vampire slurped at his glass some more, swallowing it all in a matter of minutes. It is a rare moment, a lapse of judgment perhaps, for the man who was so dutifully put together all of the time. His guard was down, at least momentarily. There was no one to judge him in this empty bar. No one would recognize him here, he hoped. This wasn't a spot he often frequented, either. So when Dareios consumes the last drop, he slides the empty glass across the bar to the keep on the other side. "Another, fine lad." Dareios said bluntly. Perhaps his work was weighing on him heavily, as of late. Or perhaps the vampire just needed a night out where he wasn't the mayor, or a rich benefactor of this city, or a wildly successful though relatively unknown drug dealer. Whatever the reason, Dareios was as raw and as vulnerable now than he's ever been in public.

Just for a few hours, he thought as he sipped his second drink of the night, then he'd let his life would return to normal. Dareios would once again assume his role of "friendly neighborhood vampire," the mayor who stood up for the supernatural community, the business man from the North side of town that gave away so much of his money, that sold and collected antique furniture, that generally seemed jovial in the presence of most here. He didn't want this break to end just yet. He didn't want to lose hold of this feeling. That's why, after all, he veered into an open bar, one he vaguely remembered having frequented before. Like any true predator, Dareios surveyed the room immediately when he arrived. He smells the humans that sit amongst themselves in the corners of the bar, and takes note of the vampire tending to the bar top. The only other body at the bar is that of a young vampire.

A silence lingers for some time. Just the clanking of glasses as the bartender cleaned them mixed with the sounds from the juke box in the corner and muted conversations from the few other bodies in the bar. Dareios' cold fingers toys with the cold drink between his palms. And finally, he cocks his head to look at the woman sitting next to him.

"Drinking alone tonight?"
