    The North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high class victorian architecture. The streets are paved with stone, the buildings are made of brick, and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting. In the North every establishment is made to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - weather it be illegal or merely looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allow them the luxuries that the North provides.

Miyako had lingered far too long, her roommate would be waking up soon and she hadn’t prepared food for either of them, not that Arlo ever ate much of her food as it was. He was a strange one and how she had ever ended up as roommates with him was bizarre to her. Miyako stretches her slender arms above her head, working the kinks out of her shoulders for being stationary for so long, she begins to gather her books and pen, slipping it into the messenger bag with care. Easing out of the booth, she notes the large crowd that had assembled at the counter and the several folks that were blocking the door.

Realizing, with dread, that she must push her way through the crowd to exit, she pauses for but a moment before straightening her shoulders and gripping the strap of her bag tightly. Murmuring several “excuse me’s” she still must push through crowd as many of them were too busy congratulating someone and barely took notice of the petite Asian woman attempting to weave through them. Feeling trapped, she takes a deep breath as she continues her way through, her eyes locked on the door several feet away.

Just as she’s almost clear of the crowd, her shoulder rams into someone else and she stumbles backwards, her messenger bag falling to the floor, spilling its contents. Gasping, she reaches up to rub her shoulder, looking up into a vaguely familiar face before her. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to run into you, I was just trying to leave,” she exclaims, a pink tint rising to her cheeks. Dropping her gaze to the floor, she sighs at the mess and attempts to kneel down, considering the close quarters, she finds it difficult and is afraid she is going to get stepped on.

Miyako gathers her supplies quickly, shoving them into the bag with less care as she had previously shown her belongings, she’s now scrambling to leave quickly. Quickly folding the flap over, she lurches upwards, her cheeks still pink as she notes the man again. “Really, I’m very sorry! I hope I didn’t hurt you, sometimes I bulldoze my way through people, especially through crowds. It makes me nervous,” she laughs weakly at herself as she rambles on. Moving around him, she exits the crowd and turns back to him breathing a sigh of relief not to be immersed in the middle of all those people. “I hope I didn’t hurt you,” she states, wincing as she reaches up to rub her own shoulder. She had truly hit him hard considering how her arm felt.

Glancing back up at his familiar face, she furrows her brows briefly, adjusting the grip on her bag, “I’m sorry,” she apologizes in advance, her eyes regarding him with a look of curiosity, “but do I know you? You look familiar.”
