Dorian AragonaHis Royal Highness

God he felt the perfect fool. Pretending to clean imaginary and historically incorrect armour at that! It was almost a blessing, really, that Sebastian was not here to witness this ridiculousness. He is sure he should never live it down and yet, surely, if he indulged the girl a little she might simply grow bored with waiting and leave. Children were impatient by nature after all. Eventually she would tire with even her own imagination and he might be afforded the opportunity to either escape back to his own home else manage to reach the bedroom and phone his lover to have him return here sooner rather than later. For now however, any chance of escape remained decidedly dim, the child vampire seeming very much engaged in this frivolous notion of play and yet as long as she was content Dorian was assured he was at least relatively safe. How long he could maintain this game however remained to be seen. The Fae King working hard already to maintain both his decorum and too- his nerve. His falsified armour was apparently met with a nod of approval for its newfound shininess as Dorian moved to pretend to sip at that tea- hardly trusting his own brewing skills enough to be tempted into drinking it for real and yet Anna-Marie seemed to have found it acceptable. The man momentarily pleased with himself in some obscure fashion. His mention of a quest seeing the girl abandon her cookie. Hmm. Perhaps he would not seek to give her further ideas next time.

This mention of witches saw his own features scowl as the little vampire pulled herself onto her knees with excitement, Dorian of a good mind to tell her a lady did not sit in such an atrocious manner before he thought better of it. Perhaps she was low-born. There was always that chance too, that correcting her might prove displeasing to her. This mention of dragons and trolls saw both his eyes lift upward in a truly dubious look and yet the young girl was clearly no longer looking, her mind taken entirely with this idea of finding a key of some description as she eased off that chair, straightening her dress before turning to look towards him. Dorian struggling to prevent that sigh falling from his lips as he moved to stand in turn, sliding both chairs back in before following obediently behind the girl. He trailed behind her and back into the sitting room, following her to the nearest bookcase. The King so believing that she perhaps desired to be read a story and yet he doubted very much Sebastian owned any sort of fairy-tale book. The only books he had seen within Sebastian’s home so featured history or art or music and language along with several about England and travel with but a few of what the vampire had assured him were the classics scattered within. Dorian doubted however that Wuthering Heights, To Kill a Mockingbird or Lawrence of Arabia were books that would delight a child (even though Dorian himself found them delightful).

Anna-Marie so pulled that first book from the shelf then, Dorian moving to speak, those words caught in his throat as she suddenly tossed it to the floor, followed by another and another along with a framed photograph of the city of London and a statue of a deer that Dorian near dove to catch before it could hit the floor. The Fae King clutched it to his chest a moment before carefully replacing it back upon that shelf, hurriedly gathering the books before lunging to save another photograph lest it break. What on earth was she doing?! Those books and pictures were hurriedly replaced, Dorian struggling to keep up with the girl lest she damage any of Sebastian’s beloved possessions. The Monarch wholly determined to protect them as best he was able, the thought of something so being broken entirely distressing to him and yet the girl was relentless in her search for that key. If they did not find this ridiculous key she might well upend the whole house!

“Your Highness, do you not think it better if we were to be a little more careful in our search for the key? You see, if those Witches have hidden the key they might well know we are looking for it if the see the…spell books disturbed like this and they might hide it again. We should be very careful in our search so as to make it appear nothing was touched- lest they suspect us.”

It was his very best attempt to so incorporate that game into redirecting her behaviour to something less destructive. Telling her to stop outright was surely a foolish thing to do, instead, he merely aimed to build upon that game with a suggestion that they simply change the style of playing and yet still- the idea of her going through Sebastian’s things was decidedly displeasing. Dorian allowing a look of surprise to touch his features then.

“Ah, but I think I have found the key! Over there!”

It was a long shot perhaps and yet the man was determined to try, Dorian pointing towards the hall before hurriedly wandering into it, reaching for a piece of paper situated beside the phone for taking messages. He reached easily into his back pocket, plucking that white pastel he often carried from within it, drawing a key upon that paper before allowing his affinity to embrace it, colouring it gold, his hand reaching then to grasp that key and pull it from the paper. Taking it from drawing to reality, that elaborate real-looking gold key nestled within his hand now as he held it out to the little vampire.

“Do you think this could be it?”
