However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three story townhouses, often with a one to two car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces.

Arlo James

See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch

That singular and yet distinctly British ‘yes?’ was the last sound Arlo truly remembered the other vampire making before something almost akin to a haze seemed to overtake his mind and very little outside of hunger cared to exist. It was fortunate, perhaps, that these episodes were becoming less and less frequent and yet they existed still. Those moments in which blood was so irresistible that his body seemed to move of its own accord in his desperate bid for that heated liquid that so consumed his life. He would berate himself for it later. Loath himself for his actions. It was always the same. Attempting to resist it, dancing upon those fine lines of control before something or someone so inevitable seemed to push him over the edge and into some state of bloodlust. It had taken months to stop killing everything and everyone in sight, his tastes having developed distinctly into one particular preference during those tumultuous early years of his vampiric life. Yet, while his preference for his own species blood had surely lessened his body count and he had come to ignore almost all other species there existed those few whose blood seemed to call to him more than any other. That this man was his favoured prey just happened to be a bonus. Sebastian possessing something within his anatomy that rendered Arlo starving.

He didn’t want to attack him. Not truly. Not really. Yet want and need had become two wholly separate entities to the dark-haired man. He needed that blood. To taste it at least! Arlo’s entire persona seeming to shift into someone so far removed from that rather pleasant man most were greeted with when in grasp of that hunger. The man becoming entirely predatory and with a singular goal as he reappeared behind the Englishman, tugging him backwards and against him before aiming those pointed fangs right at his neck. It was a surprise to feel the man press back against him rather than intend to run forward and yet, truly, Arlo was hardly capable of noticing any true specifics. Something distinctly solid seemed to collide with his jaws in that moment. The vampire’s first response was so shamefully instinctive. The feel of something between his teeth triggering the man to bite down, clamping onto Sebastian’s fist with all the force of a pit-bull. Yet- there was no sweet reward from that bite, his fangs scraping at something he couldn’t seem to grip. Something iron-hard his teeth refused to pierce. His own hand lifted, grasping Sebastian’s wrist like a vice, attempting to grip his arm all the better and allow him further purchase as Arlo engaged those bottom fangs- as if the edition of those might yield some result- only to find whatever he was biting utterly impenetrable.

It took several moments for his grip to loosen, some measure of sense seeming to find its way back into the younger vampires thoughts. Arlo coming to realise the thing so gagging him was a fist- one wrapped firmly in….something that looked almost like thread and yet surely couldn’t be. Well this was awkward. That hunger still teased at him. Sebastian leaning just slightly back against him to speak only further offering that tantalizing scent that he utterly craved. Arlo a veritable tangle of emotion he hardly knew how to handle and yet hunger seemed to punctuate each thought, frustration clawing at him with just as much force until he, slowly, reluctantly released the man’s fist from his teeth. A whimper of utter despair falling from him unbidden. Yet here and now he hardly had the forethought to be embarrassed by it. He was desperate for just a taste of that blood the other vampire was cruelly denying him. English-accented, wealthy-looking jerk.

“A while.”

The words were uttered at last. It had been days now. With all the rain his own prey had been far harder to come by. He shouldn’t have let himself get this way, he knew and yet he was sure he’d been in control of it. Arlo disappeared from behind Sebastian now, reappearing back before him, arms folded across his chest in an almost sullen fashion as if put out by the whole experience and yet his form remained distinctly tense. The hunger within those dilated pupils existed still, as if the Englishman was the last drink of water in a desert, and yet the idea he would help him find a girl was almost laughable. He didn’t understand. None of them understood. At least this one wasn’t trying to murder him though. This could have gone worse he supposed and yet still, still that scent existed in all its glory! A snort fell from him a moment later, those striking blue eyes meeting the other man’s own properly at last.

“I don’t eat humans.”

He hardly chose to go into the details of that, at least, not just yet. The vast majority of his own kind rarely seemed to understand that while he certainly could feed off of any other species they hardly appealed to him the way vampires did. They lacked the taste and flavour he craved, they gave him almost nothing from their bodies. Not like other vampires. Not like Sebastian would. The other vampire perhaps inclined to think him merely picky in his eating. Arlo already weighing up his chances of trying to attack the older man a second time and yet the idea of another fist to his mouth was hardly appealing. Could he wrap that protective thread everywhere? Best not to find out.

“What…..if I ask nicely?”

That- was true desperation now and yet in perhaps a true testament to their shared species the younger vampire was entirely inclined to find any way that might result in giving him a meal. Arlo content to adapt his approach this time as any vampire surely would any victim. His motivation still very much driven by that gnawing in his stomach. This time though, he at least maintained his own distance. One hand reached to brush the near-black hair from his gaze before running his fingers through it in that growing frustration. A sigh falling from his lips.

“Just hear me out. How about you let me have some of your blood and I’ll……I’ll help you replace it after? I can make do with your wrist instead of your neck if you’re touchy about it. I’ll be gentle.”

There was some measure of doubt even within his own words as to how good a deal this truly was on the other vampires end and yet desperation on the man was inclined to see him suggest it all the same. Clearly the vampire before him had no idea of what he smelled like, Arlo anticipating that Sebastian might offer to find him a Were or a Witch or something instead. Not that he truly blamed him from wanting to keep the blood he’d earned.

“You smell like fucking heaven. You have no idea. I caught your scent a few months ago, before Christmas, but I couldn’t track you. You’re a hard man to pin down. If you’d just…..”

He managed to stop himself, this time, his words becoming slightly irritable again towards the end and yet those out-of-control emotions were merely a representation of just how hungry he was and too- of just how young he was by vampire standards.
