However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three story townhouses, often with a one to two car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces.

He knew he had all but made himself at home when it came to Amelia's hospitality but she didn't seem to mind him claiming a parking place that had all but been empty for who know's how long before he came along. She wasn't usually one to hold her tongue so he was sure she would say something if she felt he was getting too comfortable. If anything, he would say she liked how second nature everything was becoming, almost like a suburban family routine, just without the family and suburbia, thank God. He would NEVER allow himself to live in a situation like that again. It was hell, literally. Okay, so the gates of hell hadn't actually opened in Springsfield but it was pretty damn close to their street and he was pretty pissed when he had to buy a new bumper for his car. Stupid vampire and werewolf wars taking over the urban areas when all the rural ones were already run by organized packs and covens. There was a lot of damage; no wonder they got away with calling it a major tornado storm. Everyone just thought the roars and snarls were messed up train whistles.

She didn't look her usual spiffy self when she opened the door but he was more worried about her health than her looks. Amelia would look sexy in a burlap sack and he could still rip those sweat pants off of her at any given moment. But she didn't look like she was up for the late night antics tonight and that was okay. He could do the whole romance and cuddle up for a movie and bubble bath thing too. See? Not bad boyfriend material, after all. She laughed when he put his hand to her forehead as if it were a joke or something but he was actually a little serious. She said she didn't think she had a fever and he scowled.

"You sure? Did you check? I can go run and get a thermometer if you need to. Is there some kind of vampire doctor I can take you to? I know a few voodoo doctors but I think most of them just work on dolls, not actual people."

Okay, so he was rambling a little. He did that when he got nervous and seeing her like this made him uneasy. He had been happy go lucky up to this point because what could possibly go wrong? She was immortal and he was immortal and all was right with the world. They would be together for eternity or until someone got bored or something but nothing besides that would part them. And now she's sick...something he didn't think vampires ever did. Why now? It's like it was a bad omen or something. Was he cursed? Sam left and now Amelia's sick? Maybe it's a family curse thing. He remembered his father saying something about bad luck with women being in the cards for all of them. Thanks, dad. He set out the soup on display so she could pick out what she liked and he gave her a crooked smile as she leaned in to kiss his cheek before taking a can. He shrugged.

"There was a five for one sale. Can't blame a guy for going for the good deals."

Maybe that wasn't completely true but what she didn't know wouldn't hurt her. His expression softened as he watched her throw everything on the stove. He came over to stand behind her, his hands gently cupping her waist before sliding his arms around her stomach and leaning in to kiss her shoulder lovingly.

"Need help with anything? I can at least set out your bowl or something so I feel useful."

After a while, she came to him and wrapped her arms around him. He instinctively hugged her back and when she pulled back all of a sudden, he raised a brow in question. It was almost like a jerk reflex. Did he smell bad or something? He had shaved and showered right before he came and even put on that good cologne he knew she liked. He raised his arm and smelled just in case.

"You okay?"

He knew she was sick and it was probably a stupid question but she would know he was asking about her reaction just then, not overall. Then she said the words he'd been thinking ever since she texted him and he scowled thoughtfully, coming over to sit on the barstool beside her. He couldn't help but want to be near her all the time, even when she was sick. He put his hand on her thigh, letting his finger caress her leg gently.

"This is new news to me, too. But we can find out what's going on. We'll find someone, a doctor, someone has to have seen this before..."

He hoped he was reassuring her. He was going to be with her through this. He wouldn't leave her side. Suddenly her hand flew to her stomach and his brows furrowed in worry.

"You need the trash can? Are you going to throw up?"

That was a reaction women did when they were about to puke their brains out right? Then she reached for his hand and brought it to her stomach. At first, he just looked at her in puzzlement but his eyes widened when she brought up a tumor.

"Can vampires even get cancer? I thought immortality pretty much voided all that."

She dropped his hand but because he was distracted, he kept it there. Maybe it was just comfortable there or maybe he just didn't think about it. He just kept listening. He couldn't help but smirk a little, always the jokester, when she mentioned her boobs. He held up his other hand.

"Maybe you should let a professional test that theory out. I should know if the size has changed. I've got those babies memorized."

His eyes glowed with amusement but he quickly let it rest, the worry taking over his emotions again. He was trying to lighten the mood but the truth of it was that he couldn't joke when it came to her. Not about something as serious as losing her. He tilted his head when she said that she'd been craving blood. Surprisingly even to himself, he didn't even flinch when she said how badly she wanted his blood. She was so worried and it wasn't helping him with his own worry. In fact, he was feeding off of it. He reached for her hand, slowly bringing it to his neck, running her fingers across the thrum of his jugular vein as he looked at her, his eyes filled with passion and adoration unlike anything he'd ever felt.

"Well, all you have to do is ask, darling. There's plenty of me to go around."

He was giving her permission to feed, hoping that by some miracle, maybe his blood could heal her of this...whatever this was. But then something happened. His other hand was still on her stomach. He'd pretty much forgotten about it. But then....something moved. He jumped up, the barstool crashing to the ground as he looked from her stomach to her, his eyes wide as saucers like a doe in the headlights. He swallowed.

"Amelia...last time I checked, tumors don't kick."
