He was genuinely worried about her but he understood that she wouldn't even know what her temperature is normally. What vampire would take their temperature on a regular day? When he asked about a doctor, she explained that vampires don't get sick so there's not a doctor. He scowled. He couldn't accept that. Surely something like this has to have happened before. He shook his head.

"Something like this must have happened. There must be books on it somewhere, or a really old vampire that knows or something. There just has to be....What do you want me to do?"

His brows furrowed, his expression soft as he focused on her. He just wanted to help her through this, whatever she needed. He watched her throw some soup on, wanting to tell her that he could do it so she could just relax but he knew she had pride and figured that she wanted to keep herself busy so she wasn't just stressing about her body. She seemed to appreciate the fact that he got the soup and he liked it every time she kissed him. He came up behind her while she was cooking, just wanting to be near her. She leaned back into him and he kissed the top of her head gently. She told him that she wanted some blood and he nodded, going to get the bowl and blood as requested. He got it out of the fridge and scowled at it thoughtfully.

"So...do I microwave this or anything to warm it up? Is there a certain way to open the bag? I don't want to get any plastic in it or anything."

He just had no idea what to do with blood bags. He figured blood would be better warm since they usually drink from a live vein after all. And drinking blood was probably a good thing because it would give her strength and she needed all the strength she could get. She came to him as he went to the refridgerator but stopped short, her face pained. He hated seeing her like this. He just wanted to help. He held out his arm as if to hold her up if she needed it.

"Do we need to go to a hospital?"

He couldn't help but ask. He didn't know what he'd do if she passed out or something with only him here. He had no idea what to do. When she sat on a barstool, he sat down beside her and tried to lighten the mood but he regretted it the minute he said it because he could see the fear etched onto her beautiful features. She told him she was scared and he sighed and nodded.

"I know you are. I'm sorry. It's just...jokes are my coping mechanism. I'm scared, too, Amelia. I'm scared of losing you."

He frowned at her, his eyes dark and troubled. When she brought up wanting his blood, he tried to ease her into it, letting her fingers run over his throat because he knew it would tempt her. He knew how she felt about feeding off of people but she had gotten so accustomed to feeding from him during sex that he didn't think it was that big of a step with her being sick. He scowled thoughtfully, knowing it was a risk to let her feed from him with her telling him that she wasn't satisfied. There was a chance that she wouldn't stop. Maybe that was why she wouldn't feed from him. Maybe she was too scared that she wouldn't be able to stop. He sighed.

"Just tell what I can do to help then. I hate feeling this helpless. What can I do?"

Then it was like a lightbulb went off in her head. She suddenly looked at me. My brows shot up at the thought of my blood having caused this. A part of me wanted to be offended that my blood would do this, like it carried a disease or something. If he had known something like that, he would have been using his own blood as a weapon against her kind a long time ago. But no, he couldn't believe that his blood somehow had become toxic to vampires. That would be too coincidental. He shook his head.

"I don't think so but I can't say 100%. No one has ever fed from me before."

He shrugged, looking away cause now he felt bad. What if she was right? What if he did have something bad in his blood? Maybe that was his family's curse. She looked down at his hand resting on her stomach and for a minute, he thought about pulling back. He felt the guilt setting in. What if he had done this to her? He would never forgive himself. But then something jolted and he jumped back, blinking in shock as the stool hit the ground behind him. She looked up at him surprised and asked if he could feel that. He swallowed.

"Damn right I can feel that! How could I not?"

He was so lost and confused now, his brows furrowing. She was only getting more scared as she looked from her stomach to him and some part of him hated that he was only making things worse. She asked him what was it but he didn't know how to answer. He parted his lips but nothing came out. The problem was that he didn't know what was it was or wasn't, only that it was impossible, right? She was a vampire, undead. Her human body had died and came back in this shell. Her own heart didn't even beat without the help of someone else's blood. She started to ask about kicking, her voice trailing off before it started to click and then her color drained from her face. She stood up, stumbling back to the counter and only then did he reach for her. She was vulnerable and he couldn't live with himself if he just let her fall to the floor. She asked how it was possible and he was speechless once more, finally running a hand through his hair as he sighed and shook his head.

"I have no earthly idea. It shouldn't be."

He had always been careful about protection with others, both human and other because most of them could become pregnant. But a vampire? Of all things, he didn't think that was possible at all. She had already shown him that she had plenty of experience so it wasn't like this was new to her, the sex, that is. She had had a sex life before him and apparently this had never happened before. So why now? It didn't make sense. Suddenly she looked embarrassed and said that she didn't know and he furrowed his brows, coming closer to her. He stopped in front of her, reaching out to touch her arm with one hand while he reached to lift her chin with his other. He wanted to look into her eyes, his voice hoarse but soft.

"Hey, neither of us did. Hell, we still don't know for sure if that's what's going on. None of it makes sense. You being sick, the hunger, the boob thing. There's only one way to find out. We need to see a doctor. Anyone you trust?"

He hoped she would pick up on the fact he said "we." He wasn't going anywhere. He was in this with her.
