he was both everything you could ever want
and nothing you could ever have

It was that mention of that fateful evening that saw Sebastian near hesitate to admit the truth behind his original interest in the fae. He had been certain of but one thing - that Dorian smelled of the same species as Darien had. Though he'd had just a taste of the usually drunk man, it had been wholly intoxicating. That alone had been enough to prompt the vampire to take an interest in the once utterly handsome stranger. Still, he was glad he had, all the same. He certainly never had looked back on that evening with regret. Rather, for days afterwards, Sebastian had so dwelled on the man that now stood at his side. For weeks and months, the Monarch had been everything he ever wanted. Still, he hardly wished Dorian to so linger upon that simple truth, much less draw conclusions of that individual that had been but a fleeting moment within Sebastian's life. Instead, the vampire was all too willing to admit that Dorian certainly was the most attractive individual that evening, and the only one who truly had been inclined to consent to that taking of blood he had, at the time, so entirely desperately desired. His lover's assurance that he had been perhaps equally enjoyed simply for that tendency to so 'experiment', as Dorian had put it, served to bring a soft chuckle to his lips. "I enjoy your ideas, Ma Biche." He uttered softly, his fingers gingerly squeezing the King's own in a small gesture of affection as they trailed down that beach.

It was the altogether familiar presence of a particularly round shell that caught Sebastian's attention, that star shaped pattern that adorned the surface saw him pause as he bent down with a declaration that he'd found one. With meticulous care, the vampire washed those bits of sand off of that off white colored surface before he rose, presenting it to his lover to take. He watched as Dorian ran his fingers over the surface of that shell. That inquiry of what it was made of, however, produced little more than a small shrug on his shoulders as a way of an answer. He was hardly oblivious to that amused, but nonetheless almost exasperated look that crossed his lover's features in the wake of that admittance. A warm simper slowly fluttered across his features as his lover so inquired how he was not left wondering how things such as this were made. "I fear the world moves far too quickly to wonder after everything in existence my dear. Besides, there beauty in the mystery. " He could hardly help the nearly mischievous wink he so presented the Monarch in the wake of that near excuse he'd so provided for never looking into those sand dollars creation. Still, he had little doubt that Dorian would indeed find out everything he possibly could of that phenomenon - and inform him in turn.

It was the presence of that child that drew the vampire's bright blue eyes, the man somehow taking a sort of enjoyment from the fashion at which Dorian so interacted with her. He watched as Dorian handed the young child that sea shell, the girl entirely ecstatic as she ran back to her castle. It was in the wake of that moment that the Englishman leaned over, pressing his lips against Dorian's cheek as he commented on how utterly...adorable he found his lover in that singular moment. That dazzling smile he was presented with in the wake of that simple admittance only further proved his point. His head bobbed ever so slightly in the wake of his lover's statement, so simply agreeing, "I would have too." She seemed so utterly pleased, even if her sand castle was perhaps unimpressive in and of itself.

Still, the vampire's thoughts on the girl were interrupted only by a rather unexpected tale of Dorian's companion. That simple notion that his kind was capable of getting pregnant, however, so saw the man near stop in his tracks, that astonishment quite clear upon his features as he inquired if Dorian was absolutely certain he had heard his companion correctly. That assurance, however, was met only with the slight furrow to his eyebrows before his head shook ever so slightly. "No, I can't say I have. This is...quite the anomaly." He admitted, still considering the implications of their kind becoming pregnant. After all, how did the child live when she died? Unless she simply remained awake during those daylight hours for the entirety of those nine months. Fortunately, further consideration was near ceased entirely with Dorian's suspicion vocalized, that possibility that it might be an affinity was so glaringly obvious that Sebastian almost felt inclined to scold himself for not considering it sooner. "It must be her…" He commented in a truly contemplative fashion. "After all, the child would have to stay alive somehow while she dies. I cannot imagine even Troy's seed to be poignant enough to bring life." It certainly would have been a talent, though one he looked on skeptically.

Sebastian was, however, hardly oblivious to that notion of a child born out of wedlock had been just as curious to the age old Monarch all the same. Nor was he unaware of that glimpse of surprise at being told that such a thing was strikingly normal in today's world. He fell silent, all the same, as Dorian spoke of his own father, finally shedding at least some light on that very topic the vampire so often chose to give such a startlingly wide berth. That simple fact that Dorian seemed hardly perturbed of it, however, prompted the vampire to so gingerly toe the metaphorical waters of that topic. "Troy's child will be fine. Bastard is not a word used these days, at least, not to mean that." He commented in an effort to offer some reassurance. "I had considered it, yes. Do you know then...who is your father?" The vampire questioned and though he suspected his lover would hardly mind such an inquiry, he knew all too well that it was certainly not his place to inform Dorian of what he already knew.

His attention, however, drifted as his lover came to a rather abrupt halt before that sand castle building class that had so caught his attention not much earlier on. His bright blue eyes fluttered over that castle the instructor had built to so demonstrate those principles he had already taught the group, that quickly built pile of sand was already enough to draw some level of awe within him. He allowed Dorian to drag him closer towards that small congregation, hardly surprise truly when the fae seated himself upon that sand to so watch as the instructor showcased how to make that sand have the seams of actual bricks. Sebastian settled at his lover's side and yet, slowly, he shook his head. "I can make the initial bit of the sand in the bucket but anything else is beyond me." He admitted softly so as to not interrupt the rest of that class and yet, he had a feeling that he was going to learn precisely how to make those fantastic castles, not that he was terribly put out by the idea. After all, truthfully, Sebastian loved that look in Dorian's eyes when the man's passion for art so came to life. If spending the whole day attempting to build sand castles was what Dorian wanted, the Englishman would have surely obliged.
