There was something entirely pleasing in Sebastian’s assurance, simple though it was, that Troy’s child in the very least would surely not be beset by those prejudices of old that had once come with any child conceived out of wedlock. How unfair it was, after all, to pass that sin of the mother or the father- perhaps both- onto a child whom had surely never asked to be born and indeed had come about entirely because of either the infidelity or simple recklessness of others. To be veritably born already tainted in the eyes of others was a distinctly difficult path to tread and one Dorian would hardly wish on another in any sense. It was perhaps simply within the man’s nature to care in some sense, even when it was hardly his business to involve himself in such affairs and indeed, he hardly intended to. Still, the very idea that in this the world had changed for the better was entirely pleasing to him. Dorian so left considering just the nature of life itself in that moment and all that might come with it. Yet, such curiosities so hardly encouraged thought upon himself and his own lover, not in this. After all, it was as he had told Raven that day within the park some months ago. He had made his choice in Sebastian and was wholly content in that, Dorian so intending to spend forever with the man beside him alone. A forever he so greatly looked forward to.

It was this very idea of families however, that perhaps prompted those further words upon his own. Dorian so at last affording that topic of his own birth the veritable air it surely needed after so many centuries left ignored and pushed aside. To believe that the inaccuracies of his own birth had escaped the notice of his lover would be little more than an insulting to even consider. Dorian wholly assured that if Sebastian had wondered of it before, that their time within Naples had surely confirmed any suspicion the vampire had held. Those pictures of Ferdinand had decorated more than one wall within those gilded halls. Dorian holding not similarity to the short, stocky, black-haired man that he had still afforded that title of Father too. The very nature of his species too- so assuredly cast shadow upon his parentage. Dorian quite certain Sebastian had questioned it from the beginning even if that man had never mentioned it- and why would he? Such topics were, largely, unspoken in every sense. Manners alone prevented it. His own palace still seemed content to deny the nature of it. Even all these years later, even with he their veritable King they dared not suggest any inclination of his birth being less then royal. It was, Dorian had desired, entirely foolish. The Monarch almost relieved in some sense for Sebastian to simply ask that very thing no one had considered to ask in all those years. That soft simper touching his lips as he moved to inform his lover of just that in turn.

Any further conversation upon the topic was momentarily ended as they so approached that class. Dorian content to tug his lover down into the sand beside him to hear the end of that discussion on how to craft a realistic brick from the sand itself. Sebastian’s assurance that he lacked such a talent so stealing that chuckle from his own lips before, in the wake of that lecture, Dorian so moved to procure those free buckets with but every intention of attempting at least one castle for himself. After all, this was a veritable form of art! A mixed media he had never so much as considered. The man so unable to allow such an opportunity to pass though he remained wholly apologetic for perhaps forcing that activity upon Sebastian all the same. The vampire so insisting he hardly minded as that simper touched the Fae King’s features once more in the simple pleasure of his boyfriend’s willingness to engage him in this surely trivial activity. It took barely a moment for the Monarch to pick up upon just how to fill that bucket with water and sand, Sebastian’s few words of guidance further assisting the task until each was left with that neat pile of sand with which to craft. Dorian setting about the task in a meticulous fashion and yet with such focus upon that budding artwork the man was content to return to that topic that had been left so unspoken.

Sebastian’s admittance that he had been ignoring his office as a whole saw the return of that almost impish grin to Dorian’s features. Neither of them had been productive when it came to work this week. Dorian hardly regretting it at all. His Consort’s soft assurance that he should not worry of those tabloids too much seeming to settle his thoughts perhaps a little. How easily his boyfriend so seemed to be able to quell but even a hint of anxiety within himself, the man almost inclined to marvel at it, if not for those words that still demanded to be said. He spoke openly then, of all that those newspapers had said upon his Mother and those men they believed she had carried on with that had ultimately resulted in his own existence. Dorian so hardly anticipated his lover might have very much to offer upon this topic, rather, the man was merely relieved that in so many centuries he might be afforded the chance to merely speak of those things that pressed upon his mind so endlessly. How freeing it was to merely have another listen without that taint of judgement or distress. His gaze glancing upward with amusement as Sebastian so accidentally seemed to damage his castle. Dorian wholly oblivious as to the reason behind that momentary slip as he continued to craft his own sand. Sebastian’s inquiry as to whether her planned to ask Matteo of what those papers claimed met with the softest of sighs.

“I have thought of it, Mon Cher. I have considered him as a possibility for so many years and yet if it was true then why has he not said something in five centuries? Would you think me a coward if I was to tell you a part of me feared to ask him all the same? It is foolish I know. Yet, perhaps the time has finally come to confront him on the matter all the same- but heavens I don’t even know how to start! Let alone finding the man….”

That this was a source of stress for the man was evidently clear. Dorian assured that his fears in this were illogical and yet even that realisation so hardly prevented them from existing all the same. After all, what reason might exist for Matteo to deny him that knowledge for so many years other then, perhaps, the idea that Matteo simply did not….want him for a son? That sudden declaration from Sebastian that his castle was complete so prompted Dorian’s own thoughts to so fortunately turn away from that matter as he eyed his lovers creation. That warm simper so instantly finding his features at the vampire’s enthusiasm before he moved to explain that it was none other than Rapunzel’s tower.

“Ah, yes, the woman with the excessively long hair? It is a striking rendition. It looks just like it is supposed to I am sure. Mine is not nearly as….imaginative.”

The Monarch so proceeded to gesture to his own finished castle now. That singular lump of sand having been crafted into a decidedly vast castle complete with seven separate turrets, arches, carved windows, bricks and tiles with neat little pillars decorating the outside. Dorian appearing almost sheepish in his efforts to downplay his own creation, several people having stopped to admire it in turn, complementing the Fae on his efforts before seeming to notice Sebastian’s own and hurriedly offering the vampire much the same praise. Dorian struggling to maintain his amusement in this as one elderly woman so attempted to praise the window his Consort had carved.

“Ah, but it seems you have a Rapunzel fan, I think yo-“

His words hardly progressed any further, several people beside them scrambling to their feet, Dorian looking momentarily bemused before that rouge wave so suddenly collided with them both. A sound of surprise emitting from him, that water drenching the Monarchs shorts and one side of his shirt entirely. Dorian left thoroughly sodden, his sand castle entirely dilapidated on one side. This, he was sure, was why sand was a largely unexplored medium. The Fae so glancing towards the vampire to see how he had fared. His tower one of the few structures left standing largely thanks, he suspected, to the rather thick base that had proven to be vastly stronger than the delicate structures of his own.

“Well, it seems what yours lacked in beauty it so made up for in sturdiness. Typical.”

That ready amusement so laced his words all the same, that chuckle falling from his lips as he moved at last to stand. Dorian thoroughly more sodden then he had ever intended to be today, the man making an almost futile effort to wipe the sand from himself, his wet t-shirt sticking almost uncomfortably to him. He moved but those few strides towards the ocean now, crouching to wash his hands in that water as best he could before rising once more. His gaze was drawn briefly along that shore line to another small group of children so attempting to perfect those cartwheels and handstands and forward rolls, his lip tugging upward in a smile once more before so turning to his lover.

“Did you do those sorts of things with your siblings?”

His previous worries upon the matter of his own birth, it seemed, had been cast aside for now. That ever impish look so suddenly touching his features, one eye raising just so. Dorian so clearly in a decidedly joyful mood this afternoon as he stepped abruptly away from his lover, the Fae taking two quicker steps forward before easily flipping up and onto his hands to exact a rather splendid handstand right there upon the sand before Sebastian might make any effort to stop him for his recklessness. Dorian so regarding his lover with clear amusement now from his upside down position. One woman so seated upon the sand nearby content to whistle her appreciation before breaking into giggles with her female companion. Dorian's shirt having slipped towards his head with the action.

“Tada.”
