However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three story townhouses, often with a one to two car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces.

We're all rotten, buried and forgotten,

Living it up underground

Sterling’s responses were clipped and almost disjointed as though his head were somewhere very distant and far away. He seemed like a pale reflection of the friend she had once known. “Of course I am right.” She beams at him, baring just a little bit of teeth. “All you have to do is say the magic words and your wish is my command. We will show that woman she fucked with the wrong person.” That sarcastic and animated remark was intended to at least make him crack a grin. Surely he wasn’t that far gone? She had no magic coursing through her veins to obviously be a genie, she was just as lifeless as any other plain old human struggling to survive. Harley certainly possessed her gifts, that silver peaked tongue was certainly one of them, although it was arguable if it was more curse than a blessing, and that inability to take no for an answer. Plus she needed something to do and what better thing than helping out an old friend with whatever he was dealing with. It was better than letting her mind reel about that strange night prior to this one. She carefully placed her midnight locks to cover those fang marks upon her neck.. The fucker didn’t even bother to heal them! They would no doubt scar her. Amor made her burn with rage hotter than the very blistering sun, it makes her hands tremble with the mere thought. However, she shoved those remainders deep down locked in some dark chamber where no one could reach it. But those thoughts torment her as though her body is her very own dungeon. She could rip her damn hair out, it was probably exactly what HE wanted. Perhaps that pounding music wouldn’t have bothered her as much if she didn’t have a war raging on inside of her, making it impossible to think.

“You’re not planning on leaving anytime soon are you?” There was a slight vulnerability laced within her voice, she wasn’t even aware at how pitiful it sounded. But damn she needed a friendship right now. Yes, she had Isolt but she had her hands were full right now with a wedding to plan and her new life. Harley still wasn’t sure where she fit in with her new world, or if she even wanted that raven haired trouble maker in it. Needless to say she felt like a ball of unwanted nothing and it made her feel like an insignificant spec in a large world that always seemed to threaten her very existence.

After being invited in, Ace and Harley entered Sterling’s abode, she could see how Ace struggled with even the simplest of movements. It broke her heart to see him this way and she frowns at the possibility that his time was coming closer than she was ever ready to admit. She was dreading it with every fibre of her being. It was enough to choke up, but the reckless girl but she knew how to put on that brave face that made her look indestructible. She was most certainly a force. Sterling spoke so softly to Ace and as he hobbled close to the man he licked those fingers that he offered. Ace’s peppered maw opens in the form of a canine grin, his tail like a propeller as he clearly remembered the man and the treats he had once provided. He tilted his head giving the man his best adorable pleading dog look that was almost too irresistible to pass up. Harley scoffed, but her lips pulled into a grin. “Look he remembers you! He knows how to put on the charm.” She shook her head slowly before crouching down for a second to scratch her companion behind the ear, hiding the worry on her face as she tilted her head down before composing and standing again.

The warlock responded to the comment about that dreadful music. His response was nothing short of depressing. Something was really wrong with her raven-haired friend there was no doubting it now. They could have passed for brother and sister if it weren’t for her violet eyes, a family trait passed down from her parent’s to their children.

Oh course she remembered what he was, but it was only a small detail to the woman. “Pft.. Warlock, vampires.. whatever else is out there. Nothing surprises me anymore. As long as you aren’t going to eat me, we are good. I’m sick and tired of everyone trying to eat me. Same thing goes with human sacrifice.. not okay.” She admits with a huff, wasn’t that the damn truth. If there were more supernatural creatures out there besides wereanimals, vampire and warlocks, in which she didn’t doubt for one second. She encountered them all. The more supernatural beings out there just meant more all-powerful beings to piss off and that she was positively radiant at doing.

“Besides, you are still Sterling right? You’re not some evil magical maniac being that wants to devastate the world? Last I remember you could blow stuff up with your fire.. Please tell me you still do that.” She looked at him as if she took a moment to assess the man, then again he could devastate the world and she would still be by his side. She was never one to shy away from a little mayhem. She had said those words more for dramatic effect. He didn’t look capable of getting a refund on that orrery let alone taking over the city. No, Sterling was just the calm she needed and perhaps in some way, he needed her too. Perhaps if she couldn’t make anything right in her life she could do right by Sterling. After all, what were the chances of them being neighbours?

“So what exactly can you do now besides make food from plants?” She asked curiously that dark up to no good smile crawling upon her lips, perhaps a sly reason or two behind the question. Mischief sparkled within the depths of her amethyst eyes. Maybe they could get revenge on the lady that sold him that orrery? Or maybe they could rob a bank? Or better yet, explode that person next door’s sound system! Or maybe, a delightful idea formed in her mind as her gaze shifts from Sterling to Ace and then back to Sterling again. Could he be capable of helping Ace? It was the best damn idea she had in months, she could barely contain that excitement, yet she stifles it for but a moment even as her mind will mull over that idea. Maybe if she could get the man in a better mood, she could convince him to tempt fate with her tonight.
