In all honesty, Sterling was hardly terribly bothered over the object he'd somehow found himself in possession of. That peculiar circling solar system was fascinating in it's own way, even if it certainly wasn't worth all the money he'd spent on it. Still, that price he'd paid for silence and to be left alone was surely worth it, though he'd never admit that to Harley. Instead, the boy merely nodded in agreement at that idle comment of gypsies and their typical habit to wander from place to place. The chance of him getting his money back was decidedly rare but he saw little reason to disrupt the clear excitement Harley gained from the mere prospect. Rather, his focus drifted to gingerly scratch the top of that aging canine's head before he led the pair further into that apartment. The room itself had certainly seen better days, his affinity had near made a mess of the place and yet he hadn't bothered to attempt to get those plants under control. At least, not yet. That inquiry of what had assaulted his apartment prompted a rather brief reminder from his lips that Sterling was not quite like her. He was born with a gift - a gift of magic that, while they'd certainly had fun with in those junk yards on those inanimate objects, he could hardly even fathom using that ability on a real human being, especially not in an effort to defend himself from his own boyfriend.

Even despite his unwillingness to cause harm, he could hardly deny that it would have been useful to at least know of some way he might be capable of using those flickering flames for some sort of safety, in the event that something happened again. The simple thought of being corralled by a panther more than that singular time it'd happened thus far was enough to make him shudder and yet, Henry was hardly the only dangerous creature stalking the night. He knew well of the existence of those who fed on blood and the species that forever hunted them all. With them, he would hardly be afforded that same generous gift of life after they had gotten their hands on him. It was with this in mind that Sterling eventually found himself agreeing to practicing with that element, though he was hardly sure how Harley would be able to assist him in such an endeavor. Still, if she had some idea, it was surely better than nothing wasn't it?

That question of what had happened to him resulted in a rather vague answer, even though he truly had no reason not to share the truth of it with Harley of all people. She was his friend, wasn't she? That statement of exactly what sort of creature it was fell rather flatly from his lips, that concern that settled on her features was near instant as she admitted how lucky he was to not only be alive but, for the simple fact that he didn't get turned into one of them. It was that idle comment that caused that soft sigh she wished to utter come from his own lips. "I know." He stated after a moment, that frown quite clear on his lips. "My um….my boyfriend was bit by a were. He kind of didn't believe in them so...I guess he couldn't control it when he shifted." He left the story there, entirely willing to let her fill in those pieces that he still had trouble voicing. It was hard to admit that the man he loved had done all of this to him, even though Sterling firmly believed that it was not Henry's fault, that the man hadn't meant it and certainly hadn't been in control of what was happening. It was just an accident. He needed to believe it was just an accident and yet...it still left all those questions of where Henry was now.

Sterling tried to bury those thoughts, the man near easily latching onto that suggestion that that utilize Sterling's new found ability for some sort of good for her dog. That insistence that he start with something he knew was as good of a place as any, the warlock quickly retreating to the fridge to pull those few ingredients he knew he couldn't grow with his own gift - namely three pristine steaks. It was easy to salt and pepper those pieces of meat, much less pulling out a that flat stove top grill and yet, while the stove heated, Sterling easily turned his attention back towards the far more important task - creating something magical. The man fetched one of those pots they'd brought back from New York, his fingers lightly pinched at the surface of that dirt before slowly pulling away as if he was pulling life from the depths of that soil. Within his fingertips a leafy, poignant herb grew within its wake, his fingers pinching that singular top leaf. Basil. He'd managed to near instantly grow basil! "I wonder what a magical plant looks like." He tried a few more times, reaching for that soil only for a different colored herb to sprout where he touched. It was certainly different than the first but, at the end of the day, it was still just basil. A small frown crossed his features as he tried again….and again….and again. In fact, it wasn't until near the fifth attempt that something wholly...different grew in the wake of his touch. That plant was of the same variety as the first, those bright green leafs altogether plump and yet, there was something wholly unique about it. The little plant caught the light in such a way that it near seemed to sparkle like a gemstone then any real leafy green he'd ever seen. It was near fascinating to Sterling, his fingers lightly reaching out to touch that leaf in disbelief and yet, it certainly felt like any other herb. "That looks magical...right?" He inquired, glancing up at Harley for some kind of confirmation.
