The warlock tried not to linger upon that feelings that invaded his soul at the simple admittance that Henry had left him. It created a sort of pang within his heart that was difficult to ignore. Still, it was sweet of her to attempt to empathize with him though, truly, he didn't doubt that she had been through her fair share of difficulties. People like her did not become as hard hearted and sassy without going through their fare share of turmoil. He glanced up at her as Harley took a deep breath, his eyebrows furrowed ever so slightly whilst she attempted to comfort him in a way that was...quite unlike her. She must really like him as a friend if she was attempting to censor herself. He could hardly help that smile upon his lips at that simple realization. It was hardly the sort of care he wanted right now but...still, it was nice to know he had someone in this shit show of a city that he mattered too. He was almost tempted to inform him that he was bisexual, with her admittance that she wasn't a dude and yet….that seemed borderline flirtatious. Instead, Sterling merely offered her a nod. "When I get into the burn on his things phase, I'll give you a call." He responded, even if he was hardly sure he would ever find that phase. Still, it would be cathartic, he supposed.

Even so, Sterling was far more willing to allow himself be distracted by that hobby he so loved, one he had not truly done since Henry's absence from his life. Returning to that kitchen came far easier than he was willing to admit, that steak being placed upon the stove's grill top with remarkable ease, that dish quite near coming easily to him as he put together ingredient after ingredient. In fact, it was only once it came to that sauce he intended to drizzle on top that the warlock paused, almost hesitant to attempt to connect with his newfound affinity. Creating a plant that was magical was far more difficult than Sterling had anticipated, several of his first attempts failed and yet, he remained determined nonetheless. Eventually, his efforts were fruitful, resulting in a plant that was certainly...peculiar, at least at first appearances. This one quite near shone in a way that was wholly supernatural in itself, those little leaves almost seemed to vibrant with a sort of sentient life that drew his from the plant to his friend in an almost inquisitive fashion. He hardly expected the forward fashion in which Harley reached out to the plant herself, much less the fact that it bit her...sort of.

He reached up, his hand scratching the back of his neck in an almost puzzled fashion. "I...didn't know plants could bite." Sterling admitted, entirely uncertain of how he was going to handle the thing, much less harvest from it. He could hardly help that chuckle upon his lips as Harley hissed at the little bit of greenery, that simple idea of plant and human having it out in a biting fest quite near prompted that idle suggestion of a were-plant. That look of shock on her features was certainly worth mentioning the idea, that grin all the more present now. It was easy, almost, to forget Henry and all that had happened with someone as entirely...straightforward and energetic as this in his kitchen His head shook ever so slightly. "I think you're safe from being turned...but if you do...you're always welcome into my garden. I'll come check on you next full moon." He continued, entirely willing to tease the woman. A were-plant. Ha! He'd almost love to see that, even if he wasn't sure how such a thing would even work in the first place. What happened if you harvested leaves from a were plant? Was it like cutting off a person's arm or cutting their hair? Now that was something to consider.

"Maybe if you were nicer to it, it might like you." He commented with a grin, pausing to lean over towards that small plant. It was with this in mind, however, that the warlock made an effort to ask for that herbed leaf he required. He reached out gingerly for that leaf, his fingers lightly tugging at it without truly demanding it. He was anticipating the shock, the one that Harley ha felt and yet, it seemed as if that plant knew it's creator enough that the simple question for that leaf was enough to cause it to give way into his fingertips. "Oh...er...thank you." He commented to the plant, almost grateful that at least he had managed to escape unscathed. Thank god. That announcement that this classified as 'Harry Potter shit' however, caused a small chuckle to leave his lips, the man offered her but a small shrug. "Yeahhhh...I didn't expect that to work." He admitted and yet, hey, he supposed it was worth it...right? It was the sizzle of those steaks that briefly stole his attention away from the plant, the man placing all three upon a plate before he began to call to life more of those magical herbs. That basil, quite suddenly, had more friends, all of them equally as beset with their own curious moods and personalities.

He hardly had to glance over his shoulder at the sound of Harley's voice, the man grinning to himself. "Maybe you should try to make friends with one of the other ones, Harley? Rosemary seemed nicer." He commented, tossing together that mixture of herbs and oils before drizzling it over Ace's steak, their own herbs were far more...non-magical. After all, he hardly wanted his attempts to create some sort of immortality effect upon Ace to result in killing them. For that matter, he hardly wanted to kill Ace either. It was that fear which prompted him to turn, that plate held in his hands as he inquired to how certain Harley was about this. After all, he had no idea what effect it might have on the dog anymore then she had. It was her assurance that this was Ace's only hope that caused his eyebrows to furrow and yet….she wasn't wrong...it wasn't like unicorn blood but….did that make it any less potent? Frankly, he wasn't sure and yet, he hardly protested as he placed that plate down in front of the dog, a second one poised before the young woman before he took his own plate to settle at the chair at her side. "Well….bon apetite." He commented with a small shrug. Here goes nothing.
