The Sun Also Rises

It was a truly rare thing, in some sense, to see Sebastian as anything other than well-dressed and largely composed. The Englishman taking a great deal of pride in his appearance and too the manner in which he conducted himself, Dorian so undeniably finding such traits attractive and yet too, there was a certain sense of delight in so seeing the man he adored in those early hours of the evening when he had first woken and his hair was askew and eyes still hazed with sleep. It was foolish perhaps and yet, Dorian so wholly adored being that very being allowed to see his lover in such a state that the world at large so never knew existed or so much as dared to consider. Those first few early moments were but a few minutes just for them and how he adored it! Even if he had surely never mentioned it aloud. Dorian wholly content to seat himself upon his boyfriends lap and within his arms in that very place he was assured he belonged and too, the very place he had so desired to be but all evening when those anxieties had gripped at him. That chaste kiss he stole from the man so had a way of satisfying him in some sense, that returned utterance of a greeting drawing a simper to his lips before the Monarch offered but an overview of his evening at large, moving to assure Sebastian that, if nothing else, he had so finally learned that truth he had long suspected and that all was largely well even if he had been left with much to consider and but a plethora of things to share with his lover.

That sudden soft muttering momentarily drew his gaze upward, Sebastian so admitting that he was worried he would need coerce that truth from Matteo, Dorian’s own features frowning slightly before the very corner of his lip so neatly turned upward in amusement. He had suspected that truth for some time and yet, more than that, he had so suspected that Sebastian had either known or indeed felt assured of it. After all, the vampire seemed so eternally willing to have him spend time with Matteo in a fashion he never quite seemed to find if Dorian was so called away to attend any meeting with any other being. The simple obscurity of that having well alerted the Fae to such an idea, his readily observant nature so easily having seized onto that simple notion, his bright silver eyes rolling lightly then.

“I so suspected you had known this truth before tonight, you are wretched sometimes, although I understand this was not your secret to tell.”

He uttered the words softly, Dorian hardly discontent in any sense for what had been kept from him. After all, such a thing had been Matteo’s to tell, even Dorian unable to deny such a thing, though how Sebastian had so managed to contain himself for any length of time Dorian hardly knew. The man entirely unsure as to whether or not he would have managed the same. The Monarch readily assuring his Consort then that he had a very great deal to tell him off, his own thoughts turning readily over within his mind and yet that decorum clung to him still. To abandon a guest at the table for anything longer than a few moments was distinctly frowned upon, Dorian unable to commit such social travesty even when he so desired to merely be alone with Sebastian once more. That press of his lovers lips to his own only further diminishing his desire to return downstairs, Dorian returning that gesture eagerly now before so reluctantly allowing the vampire to move away. The Monarch allowing that sigh of dissatisfaction to leave him before so admitting that for the sake of Elizabeth too, they should surely hurry down. Even without that knowledge of Matteo’s relation to him he had known the other Fae for several centuries, just as he had known of Matteo’s way with women. Dorian assured there were terribly few over the centuries the Frenchman had not bedded when the mood struck him to do so. Sebastian’s grumbling so stirring that amusement to his features once more.

“I am sure she will thank us one day for protecting her virtue. Though I suspect Matteo vanishing is more likely.”

Those teasing words were offered easily as the Monarch so reluctantly slid from his lovers lap, Dorian seating himself upon that bed as he waited for Sebastian to dress himself and see to his hair. Dorian hardly uninclined not to merely enjoy that view as he did. How unfortunate there was such a need for clothing. His own thoughts so continued to wander then, his mind turning over all that he had learned tonight and all that he still desired to know, his features frowning ever so slightly in some further consideration before his lovers name fell softly from his lips once more.

“Bastian? I find myself curious off something. I know it is so you are always given to see those red threads you care for and I wonder, have you ever looked upon Matteo’s? I do not care to know whom he may be destined for I merely wonder if he has a thread at all. I know it is a curious thing to ask of you, but I have learned many curious things tonight, could you look for me?”

There was little time to so explain just why such curiosities had beset him, his hand reaching out to take the vampires own as Sebastian declared himself ready, Dorian content to lead the way downstairs then, releasing his lovers hand to so allow him to take his place at that table, Dorian helping himself to his own seat. The still flushed Elizabeth hurried away from Matteo to pour Sebastian his tea and refill Dorian’s own teacup. Matteo so nodding that greeting to the vampire in turn. Sebastian. Dorian’s own attention shifted briefly to that tray of desserts, Sebastian inspecting that stack with diligent care before proceeding to hunt within for one particular treat, producing that brown coloured bar of sorts as Dorian’s own head merely tilted in curiosity. How on earth the vampire managed to find chocolate beneath a veritable stack of sweets the Fae hardly knew. Sebastian so evidently blessed with such a talent, Dorian unable to keep that simper from his features as the vampire collapsed into that chair, commenting upon his delight of that spread before biting into the chocolate treat.

“I did not know there was chocolate in there. I’ve not yet tried that one. What is it?”

Dorian had, this evening, very near sampled one of everything and yet he had not quite managed to discover one with chocolate. Matteo reached for another scone then, lavishly applying that fresh cream to it before raising it to his own lips. I’ve been told I inspire people. The Frenchman offered in response, a simper tugging at his own lips before gesturing loosely towards Sebastian’s dessert. I think you’ll find it may be Nutella, Dorian. Have you tried that yet? It was invented by an Italian, it’s quite good. Your servants are very capable in the kitchen, Sebastian. The Monarch merely shook his head in response to that query, even the word itself utterly foreign to him before the Frenchman continued. As I was saying though, I plan to return to France in a few days, I intended to stay at Chambord but since you did an excellent job of raising my rent I shall reside elsewhere. It was, perhaps, Dorian’s own turn to look momentarily sheepish. His evening with Alexander hardly forgotten, the Monarch so keenly having shown Sebastian that coin he had been gifted by the age old Hunter and to so regaling him with that tale of his Father and Alexander’s obscurely large bets. Matteo having made no mention of that evening until now, Dorian lifting that teacup to his lips to sip at that heated liquid.

“Well, I-“

He was so fortunately saved from further detailing his actions that evening by the sudden appearance of Charles, the manservant uttering quietly to him before that grin so touched his lips, Dorian nodding before moving to stand from that table then. His chair neatly pushed back in before his gaze shifted to Sebastian.

“I shall return in a few minutes I so desired to try something this evening and I think it is ready.”

He offered the vampire no other true hint as to just what he so intended then, the Monarch following Charles into that kitchen, leaving Sebastian so briefly alone with the French Fae as Matteo finished his scone, that sudden flare of red within those silver eyes so indicating the Frenchman had already looked into just what his son may have been doing, his own eyes rolling slightly and yet that amusement lingered. You’re getting the better one. He must like you better than me. That soft chuckle hummed within his throat, a single finger idly tracing the rim of that tea cup as he regarded the vampire before him. You did very well to keep that truth from him until I was ready to tell it, even though I am sure you desired to tell him. Thank you. It seems I was right about you all along.
