Sebastian Ellington

Sebastian had never truly imagined himself here, seated at the side of the Italian Monarch with discussion of his part in the line of succession for that throne. He'd never truly attempted to bed anyone in any seat of power and yet, by the time he had discovered of Dorian's position, it had truly already been too late. He had already been smitten, even if he hadn't quite realized it just yet. And even then, even throughout those evenings in which he had so near courted the fae, he had thought the most he could ever hope for was to merely be little more than a side fling to occupy the man when others failed to hold his attention. Now - the mere thought of sharing the King was far more painful then he could endure to even consider. Now - there was some close minded individual attempting to weaken his lover's rule because of him. It was childish, perhaps, and yet in that singular moment he had every intention to make the President's life equally as difficult as the man attempted to so thwart them. He needed to brush up on his knowledge of that Italian law, it had been centuries since he had studied those books. There was surely something they could do, even if it was entirely passive aggressive in nature.

It was, perhaps, that desire for revenge, that desire to be a thorn in that man's side that prompted his own puzzling of how they might so best the man. He had every intention of turning each and every attack against the fellow. He listened in silence to Dorian's own thoughts, the idea of touching base with those members of parliament and yet, surely there were other avenues they could to pursue in case the Chamber of Deputies failed him. Hell, perhaps they merely needed an authority above the President to sway any members of that Chamber. That simple notion had been enough to so spur another far different idea, one that fell from his lips in a contemplative fashion as those bright blue eyes briefly met the silver of Dorian's own. Though his own knowledge of the Pope was wholly restricted to news articles, the man had created near ripples within that Catholic faith for his distinct ability to accept that the world had largely changed since those years of Christ' birth. The Church was surely not required to hold morals as those demanded in those same dark days. Life had changed and, to some degree, faith too was required to shift lest it died out as an archaic idea as so many before it had done. It was a rather agnostic way to so look at the world and yet, Sebastian was nothing short of practical when forced to play that game of politics.

His head nodded ever so slightly at that agreement of such a different angle, the Monarch intending to too meet with the Head of the Church to see what moves they might have available to so thwart those efforts. There was, however, something about the whole affair that simply didn't feel right. There was something Matteo wasn't telling them - such as why he so feared the line of succession when there was truly but one rather big problem. Time was not on the President's side. That glance away was far more telling of that truth that he had near stumbled on then even Sebastian liked though the notion that he might one day rule Italy produced little more then a snort from his nose. It was silly to so wish him dead for fear of himself inheriting the throne. Wishing him dead because he had every intention of standing in the way between the President and the man he loved was far more probable to him. After all, unlike his companion, very little could actually kill the vampire. It was a fact he fully intended to abuse if it was required of him. Even so, that assurance that Matteo intended to tell them if he should foresee any such attempts on their life did little to reassure him - one single stolen glance towards Dorian himself almost near told him well of the man's own discontent at such knowledge. Maybe, it was best if he had kept such observations to himself...much less the fact that an attempt on his life had already once been made. It would do the King no good to worry over the past. He was, after all, still alive.

Unfortunately, that gentle sound of that teacup upon its saucer quickly drew the vampire's attention from those considerations as he was faced with that need to ask for his own request of Dorian's father. Though Anna-Marie hardly was as pressing of a threat now as she had been that night, truly he hardly knew when she would darken his doorstep again. He was hardly oblivious to the weight of Matteo's gaze upon him in the wake of that inquiry, much less those rules of politeness he'd so broken. There were some Victorian standards that still existed within the man, that desire to be on his best behavior during that courtship stage certainly one of them. After all, Dorian's social status and wealth made Matteo's consent for their engagement a necessity - as far as Sebastian was concerned. It was, perhaps, silly for such concerns to weigh upon him now and yet, by those Victorian standards, they were surely coming to such a time when such a move was near expected of him. It was that desire to so appease the elder fae that saw his gaze drop, the vampire wholly uncomfortable in that role he had placed himself with and yet, it seemed Dorian was equally as attentive to that small shift in his usually confident demeanor, that simple touch of that knee against his own spoke volumes to him, though he saw no reason to explain exactly what he had done to so incur that guilt within him or that glimpse of...disapproval from that Frenchman.

In fact, it wasn't until the sound of that accented voice that the vampire glanced upwards. Those answers they were given were perhaps vague and not truly...telling and yet it hardly mattered in the slightest. All that mattered was that she was a temporary conundrum, a problem they would best without death as an end result. That simper upon his lover's lips was near beaming in comparison to his own though, given the news of tonight, he could hardly blame Dorian in the slightest. At least they had one less problem to fret over when all the others had been added on. It was with that relief that he so moved to stand, assuring Matteo he'd hardly keep him long as he so offered a near open door policy to the fae - after all, this had become Dorian's home as much as it was his. That small nod coaxed a small simper upon his lips as he offered his hand to the fae and yet, in the midst of that firm shake his fingers brushed ever so slightly against that invisible thread, that affinity near bursting to life to inform him everything he needed to know of Matteo's relationship status, soulmate, and any pertinent information there in between. This, however, was an act he was rather used to, the vampire hardly showing even a hint of what he was doing in those moments until those softly muttered words so interrupted his concentration. He could hardly help that near surprised glimpse across his features, much less that sudden concern that, Matteo so seemed to know far more of him then he let on - even to those very thoughts and concerns that weighed upon him.

Sebastian fell silent in the wake of those simple words of reassurance, instead simply allowing father and son to say their goodbyes in whatever fashion they desired. Though he listened intently to the words they exchanged, he said particularly little, even as Matteo simply faded from view to vanish to that country he so originated from. He could hardly help that soft breath that left his own lips, the man nearly mirroring his lover in that moment. A sheepish grin crossed his features as he watched Dorian dip his finger in the cream. That request to dwell on those lighter topics, however, prompted a warm simper upon his features. "Of course, Ma Biche." He uttered, letting Dorian's fingers intertwine within his own. It took some effort to pull himself away from that tea set and those delectable treats, the vampire taking one final drink of tea before he allowed himself to be pulled towards those sofas. Sebastian settled on that couch, his bright blue eyes settled on the fae King as he slid on that sofa only to settle in his lap.

His gaze softened considerably as his fingers gingerly toyed with his lover's locks, finding a sort of comfort that only truly existed within the privacy of them alone. He listened as his lover so spoke of what he had discovered, that relationship between his mother and father so unfolding in an almost story book fashion from something small and contrite to an affair that even Matteo surely hadn't been prepared to feel the very depths of. He could hardly help that smile that toyed across his lips as Dorian concluded that he spoke of her in a way that he'd never heard of before, the man lips parted to so reveal that which he had already confirmed. "That's because she was his soul mate. His string belonged to her….he never love someone again quite like he loved her." How lucky Dorian was that his parents had found each other in spite of all that had threatened to tear them apart. How lucky they were that their love story would continue far longer than theirs had.
