Arlo James

See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch

Maybe he was being a tiny bit to forward here. Considering she was potential a stalker and all. Hell, maybe he just had a little bit too much ego when it came to that belief he could defend himself against, well, a girl who was also very clearly not a vampire herself. Strictly speaking he was mostly sure the only thing capable of taking on a vampire was another vampire- or a Hunter. Anything else was just wasting its time really. Still, he supposed, she could potentially possess some sort of awesome….sun summoning power or something and yet truthfully she was almost the very picture of innocence. Maybe that was what was attractive about her- aside from the fact she was pretty and holding a guitar- that simple pleasantness she had. Arlo readily admitting to just that cuteness a moment later, that almost lopsided grin finding his lips as his hand ran a little anxiously through his hair. His rapport with women, at least when sober, wasn’t exactly great. He was hardly afraid to talk to them, he was just good at mucking up his words. It was stupid really, considering he’d spent a lifetime writing songs for a living and channelling those very words into ballads. The words he could never seem to say himself.

The way that colour rushed to her cheeks was hardly missed. That tinge of pink only adding to her looks as far as he was concerned and yet, for now at least, he kept those thoughts to himself. That soft chuckle rising from within him all the same at that almost sweet shocked look. As if no boy had ever called her pretty before. A girl like that had probably heard it all before- he was sure. Still, it was nice to have his comment appreciated all the same. He could hardly help that fashion he turned his hands over in a near innocent gesture before tucking them into his pockets in some effort to appear, well, less….predatory he supposed. The man momentarily distinctly aware of his fangs and the way that grin he gave her probably only showed them all the more and yet wouldn’t not smiling be even less pleasant? His efforts, apparently, seemed to inspire something within her. The woman suddenly talking in a rush, that storm of words leaving the vampire merely blinking towards her as his own eyes widened. She seemed…..kinda confused. At least, she seemed to think she knew him and knew him rather well at that. Arlo damn well sure he wouldn’t have forgotten someone who looked like this, let alone befriending them. The woman mentioning some sort of chocolate man before that utterance of his own name caught him off guard again. How did she know him? Was this someone he’d met as a human? Arlo glancing towards her almost warily then before those apologies stared falling from her. The young woman left entirely frazzled looking by the end of it. The girl suddenly thrusting a guitar towards him.

This, he was sure, was the single strangest encounter off his life. This was even weirder then those fan girls dressed like cats outside the concert in Tennessee. That silence seemed to stretch between them then, Arlo at last reaching for that guitar if only because he wasn’t exactly sure what else to do. It was a damn nice guitar too, at least, what he could see of it within that case. That desire to take it out and test it readily tugging at him. Was she really giving this to him? A whole guitar? That was pretty generous, the man uttering just those words as he made some effort to explain that it was exactly the right sort of guitar for him too. She had good taste. His bright blue gaze lifted upward from that instrument then, eyeing the woman once more, that guilt of sorts tugging at him. She clearly had him mistaken for someone else right? Or at least seemed confused. The vampire fairly sure it wouldn’t be right to let her go on thinking they knew each other. Damn morals. The man suggesting they take a few steps back- only for the woman to actually step back.

“Oh, no, you don’t have to actually step back, its figurative, I meant- well, it’s cool, don’t worry.”

She looked almost pleased with herself really, Arlo hardly wanting to upset her before asking exactly how it was she knew his name, the woman commenting then about jumping off a roof? Had he ever jumped off a roof with this girl? No wonder he damn well didn’t remember it. He must have hit his head or something. The woman asking after that car then, the one he’d ‘borrowed’. That surprise seeing his eyes widen. No one had seen him steal that car he was sure. It had just been him and his Little Bear! How had this girl seen him? Had it been her car? God, how did he get himself into these things?! That sudden query as to whether or not he’d returned that car prompting that almost impish look from him.

“Errrrr……sure. I gave it to…..someone…..”

His words trailed off a little the man hurriedly attempting to move beyond that conversation with that assurance he forgave her for whatever crime it was she seemed to think she had committed. That apology no sooner out of his mouth then the girl basically leapt into his arms with a girlish shriek. Was it possible that he’d finally drunk enough of Sebastian’s blood that he’d inherited the mans woman alluring abilities? Had it finally happened? Either that or this was the friendliest girl he’d ever met. His arms wrapped around her automatically, the girl fitting neatly against him then, Arlo hardly able to prevent that grin at her over-exuberant thanks and promise she would apparently never lie to him again even though he was mostly sure she hadn’t lied to him before, that soft chuckle rising within his throat then.

“Sure, Babe. Sure.”

He should probably let her go, he supposed, Arlo realising perhaps a little late that this was awfully close for people who didn’t know each other. The man reluctantly releasing her, the pleasant scent to her blood readily apparent to him once more. How strange that was. Maybe it smelled better because he was….attracted to her. That realisation settling within him before the girl practically bounced back a few steps again. Well, someone was a bundle of energy. Abigail. Abby. Finally a name! Wait, Little Bear? Chicka? How did she knows those names? That mention of another vampire, a girl who killed someone momentarily distracted him. That surge of protectiveness flaring within him then. Arlo struck at the force of it.

“You probably shouldn’t hang around vampires that are killing people you might…..get in trouble.”

The idea that it was another vampire had him feeling almost territorial, ridiculous as it was. Abigail hurriedly speaking once more about how she was sometimes like this and sometimes like a….panda. That sudden understanding hit him with all the force of a damn truck. Oh god. Oh god. Sebastian was right. He’d been right all along. Arlo’s features paling slightly as near every memory of everything he’d ever done with that Panda seemed to flood back to him. Abigail saying something about a chocolate man who tasted good.

“Sebastian. His name is Sebastian.”

He managed at last, that hand lifting to his head then. His eyes staring at the Panda still as he tried to come to terms with the idea he’d stuffed a woman down his shirt! And sat her on his chest and told her…so much. Why was she apologising to him!? He should have been apologising to her for…..for everything!

“You’re my Little Bear? I….oh my god….im so sorry! I…..I jumped off a building with you, I put you down my shirt, I took you to a dodgy bar! God, Abby I…..I had no idea I…. just thought you were a really, really smart Panda.”

He exclaimed suddenly. Arlo entirely sure he felt, well, like an idiot in that moment. Yet still….she’d kept coming back hadn’t she? All the time. She kept coming back to spend time with him. That meant something didn’t it? A part of him almost inclined to admit he was a tiny little bit thrilled his Panda friend was a hot girl. He’d have to tell Seb about this. The vampire still clutching that guitar in mere bemusement.

“I’ve never been great with girls but, Christ, this is a new level for even me.”

His head shook softly, that small touch of amusement at himself tugging at his features all the same. That grin still on his features as his gaze finally lifted to that red-haired woman then.

“Hey, Ab? What exactly was your plan tonight, eh? Were you just going to wait on the steps to my building? I guess at least I could have invited you in then.”

He chuckled softly once more at the idea of the girl sitting on those steps and clutching that guitar.

“Did you…er……want to come back to my place? I mean, that’s where I was heading, although if you don’t want to hang out that’s cool, I get it. Although, I think we might have been invited to a wedding together too, im not totally sure, but we should probably talk about that too because I kinda think its like a hella important wedding. If you want to go with me anyway, if we are actually invited that is. I’m going to stop now because I feel like im talking a lot.”

Now it was his turn to ramble.
