dance to the rhythm of your heartbeat

Perhaps most would not have jumped so quickly to assumptions that simply because they'd met someone at a certain time or certain place that they would be able to find that same person then and there again, nowhere else. A part of the young woman nearly wanted to defiantly point out how she had never even known that being like himself truly existed until but a couple nights ago as his own to-the-point reply to her wholly honest guestimation. What else was she to think? She holds her tongue though, content simply to rest her hand on his arm like she'd seen old pictures of in her history books or in movies portraying the older centuries so many had forgotten about. Beylani had always been fascinated with the mannerisms and traditions from back then, always wondering what it might have been like to be a woman back in those times, so as she walks leisurely down the sidewalk with only the scattered street lamps to offer light against the pitch darkness of an eerily silent Sacrosanct night she muses herself with the idea that she might be wearing one of those extravagant dressed with a corset parcel in her other hand. "Oh, dear sweet Lani, the things that amuse you". She could almost hear the gentle notes of her mother's voice as laughter filled those loving baby blues that very much matched the blue-eyed blonde's. She looked to him, eyes widened in curious fascination as he explained to her how he could have been near or far only brief moments after having left that startling gift on her doorstep, but she can't help the question that echos within her thoughts now at this new information. If what he says is true and he could have truly been anywhere he wanted so quickly, then how... why was it that he had been close enough to have found me blatantly disregarding his words of caution?

His satin voice causes her to push aside that curious question she almost drew a possible answer to but ah, how foolish she would be to think such things as him possibly caring for her. Right? She pushed away the thought that contained to flicker across her mind, having long since been certain that the only ones who truly cared for her were those she called family, instead feeling a little sheepish that she would have thought that because they'd met in the dead of night meant she could only find him at such an hour. It had seemed like a silly things to consider st the time, but again it was all just evident of how very little she knew about faeiries. About Andras, who she very much yearned to know even more about. His tone changes after a fleeting pause and she can't help but look abruptly away from the path ahead and to his hazels, baby blues alive with worry that maybe her voiced thoughts had hurt his feelings and she nearly begins to fumble over apologetic words when she realizes the playfulness that etched itself not only into his words but his features as he winks down at her and it beckons a smile to her lips that illuminates her gaze."Perhaps at first glance that might have been my thinking when I saw you rushing at me, but I know better now. You're not a monster, Andras. If anything I'd dare to say you have a caring heart somewhere in there", she says brightly up to the tall, dark fae man and having since lowered her camera into one of her trench coat pockets subconsciously for fear of dropping it when their walk back to Riverdale had begun, she takes her free hand and without thinking - which she really needed to get out of the habit of doing - places it lightly on his chest, the gesture having brought her slender frame closer to his side while looking up at him with that radiant smile curling blush-colored lips. How she could he so brazen at times was beyond her, but it was just one small thing that made the young woman who she was.

Despite the mischief that readily glitters within those mysterious hazels of his, she couldn't help the feeling that he was letting her on something that were not too unlike a secret. This "word of advice" only spurred more curiosity to the surface of her fair-skinned features and she wants to know more about exactly how that worked. Could he make himself invisible? Could he melt into the shadows like he seemed to do so effortlessly when he's come to stand behind her under the street light only a few long moments ago without her even having known she'd been followed? What was it that made him so certain in his words, like it were something he did on a daily basis? Then she begins to wonder if maybe she'd missed him in the sea of faces on her trips to Inner Sanctum before ever having met him officially in the park that night. Had their paths crossed before and they simply hadn't known it? If asking questions were a talent, there was little doubt that the young woman would come in first place by a fee thousands extra questions. Suddenly forgetting that her hand still touched against through soft fabrics over his chest she hurriedly lowers it back to her side, fighting against the tinge of embarrassment. It had been so long since she'd been so close to a man, although in actuality those boys who had broken her heart before had been for from manhood in her opinion. All the same, she nearly forgot how much she had liked that closeness. He was probably thinking she were even more unusual that he likely already thought of her to be, so she distracts herself with a light giggle as she gives him a nod."Faeirie lesson number one, then. I'll be sure to remember that, and I promise to stop wandering at night so you won't have to", she replies as they walk on, promising that she would actually mind him this time. After all, though it was almost entirely forgotten, she still was not sure if that feeling of eyes on her skin had been from her imagination, having been followed somehow by Andras, or if someone (or something) really had been in the shadows, silently watching her... The last thing she wanted was for Andras to feel like he needed to babysit her or something.

Again his words pull a light-hearted note of laughter from her lips as he remarks on his tendancy to be to be right and they close the remaining distance to the apartment complex in content silent. It was almost regretful that their stroll ended when they climbed the stairs and after trying to ignore that silly place her thoughts had ventured unbidden, entering into the small apartment that she called her own. As she is preparing the grounds and placing them within the filter perfectly fitting into the small brewing pot, she can hear his remark at how she'd ignored the note, shortly followed by the sound of fabric and spring cracking slightly beneath his weight."Well, with how wonderfully it was written it almost seemed like an invitation", she replies while laughing lightly as words tinged in playfulness answer him back as she flicks on the switch and watches the process of hot water turning to coffee begin. She knew it wouldn't take long for the pot to finish, it was only a little four-cup brewer after all. Anything bigger would be nonsensical for her to have as she still had yet to make many friends here in the big city. His velvet tenors carry across the small living space easily as he asks her of that assumption she'd had and for a moment she is almost too shy to answer."Um, I guess I kind of thought that with your... mannerisms, and the way you dress, you might be much more well off than myself or at least from a different social class with high standards and much more pleasant living space. I'll admit, it is probably a shallow thought but one I couldn't help. I hope you don't take offense to that", she says truthfully while busying herself as she looks through her cupboard for some of those tea cookies she'd bought just this past evening. She wasn't sure if he likes sweets, but she still wanted to offer them nonetheless.

Finally remembering she'd placed them beside the flour, she grabs the small plastic container and turns back to him and walks the small distance between them to set the cookies on through coffee table in front of him. She listens intently now as he dared to answer her first question amongst the various other thousands she had. It wasn't very detailed of an answer and she now wonders if he was only just a visitor in Sacrosanct as he seemed to indicate that his home was not anywhere nearby like she'd first thought. He poses his own question for her, and it is one she'd been asked before by a certain kind man she'd met in Hyde Park."No, I'm not from here either but I do hope to make a place for myself here in Sacrosanct. I was born and raised in a small rural town a few hours from here called Willowhaven. Needless to say my parents weren't too thrilled with my choice, but you can only grow so much in a tiny town like that", she explains to Andras as she sits herself comfortably beside him."So, if you live so far away, are you the only faeirie here? Are there others? And if so, do they live in families or is there another word?", she asks, hardly able to stop on one simple question as it seemed one would always lead to at least two or three more. At this point, she hadn't even bothered to think of where Chika was, so eager and excited about being given the chance to learn something about Andras and his people that only now does she realize she hadn't been greeted by her tortoiseshell companion. That all changes in seconds though as suddenly there is a flash of mottled brown, black, and orange fur from the paper bag that had been sitting beside the door. It all happened so fast that her mind didn't have the chance to understand what was about to happen when suddenly a wild yowl is sounded and the feline is leaping from the floor to the fae man's chest in an act of ferocity that Beylani never would have in a thousand years thought capable of a cat usually so sweet and kind."Chika!! No! What are you doing!?!!", she exclaims as she also lunges forward and likely into Andras' personal space as she snatches the hissing feline with claws outstretched, ears flattened, and tail fluffed out like that of a fox's. Heart pounding wildly in her chest with the sudden hostility unlike anything she'd seen from the tortoiseshell, she hardly realizes the blood trickling from her bare arms as she holds Chika close to her, baby blue eyes wide. What just happened!?
