you were the answer to my dreams

The English were, by nature, generally a reserved, polite sort of people by nature. Their culture near instilled within them a sort of tendency to appear any less than discontent within the face of public, sometimes even within their own homes. It was almost natural, that Sebastian's first consideration should be the fashion in which the general public would certainly be put out by not only the hour that wedding would need to take place, but also the season and the weather it might bring with it. The last thing he found himself wanting was to bring them any sort of discomfort because of himself. He was ignorant, truly, on just the extent of how endearing Dorian found such trait to be, much less how the Italian King saw such an attribute as fitting for the future Prince of his nation. Rather, his nose wrinkled ever so slightly at Dorian's insistence that he was being endearing. "I just….don't want the world thinking less of us for leaving everyone standing in the cold." He claimed, even if it was only half of the reason behind his concerns. After all, it was still baffling to him that so many might care to see their wedding, even if he knew he should expect such - being a royal affair and all.

He hadn't truly anticipated that Dorian might choose a date for that wedding that was so particularly….close. It wasn't that the vampire disliked the idea of tying that knot with the fae Monarch. Quite the contrary, he simply had thought such an engagement would require far more time to plan those meticulous details. Then again, this was exactly why the crown had hired someone to oversee the details of that affair altogether, certainly. That glorious grin upon Dorian's features at Sebastian's agreement to that February wedding had a fashion of coaxing a similar one upon his own lips. Though he looked forward to such a date, he could hardly deny those butterflies that threatened to beset his stomach with that anxiety now that he truly had such a day to fret over. After all, there was still those tuxedos to find, much less asking his own manservant to take that critical role of 'Best Man' for that special day. It was so much and yet so little time, particularly for a vampire who often seemed to put off such affairs till the last possible moment.

Any such thoughts of those newfound anxieties, however, were interrupted by that outstretched hand, one that he near automatically reached forward for. His fingers intermingled within Dorian's own, the vampire entirely content to say goodbye to those office walls and steal his fiance for himself. It was with a singular call to that puppy before Sebastian led the way out of that office and towards the comfort of that downstairs sofa. That gentle tug as all that was necessary for the vampire to settle at his lover's side, the man entirely curious of this surprise gift Dorian had mentioned in the first place. He could feel that almost nervous shift to the fae King's heart upon his finger and yet, it was the presence of that small box that surely said all that he needed to know. He recognized the shape easily enough and was well aware of it's contents even before Dorian began to offer his apologies or open the lid. The sheer sight of that ring, of his wedding ring, was enough to grant his lover any measure of forgiveness for the time it had surely taken to craft something so utterly astounding, his lips surely parting in awe of that gift made just for him. He could hardly help that soft utterance that it was surely beautiful, even as he reached out for that silver and gold colored ring.

The details upon that gold working were nothing short of utterly meticulous. He could hardly imagine how long it had taken Dorian to perfect that small display of art upon the surface. For several moments he simply turned that ring around and around to survey that extent of that patterned design that wove its way in a never ending circle on that metal. It was the mention of the inside, however, that prompted his attention to turn to those tiny words that lined the inner ring. Those languages were, for the most part, easily translated with the exception of those older ones that had existed far before his own time. It was certainly touching, that Dorian so wished to provide him the same sort of lasting assurance that he had so sought to give the King with that glimpse of that red thread Sebastian held such an affinity for. Those words were so rarely spoken between the two men that to have those words written on that very ring was far more meaningful then it certainly should be. Those dark blue eyes shifted upwards, a grin settled upon his features as he assured the King he could certainly never forget, not now. His own lips all too eagerly met those of his fiancé’s, entirely determined to end sure Dorian knew just how much he loved that ring. He had no intention of waiting till that ceremony before placing that ring upon his hand, certainly not with that warmth that had spread throughout him at having it within his palm.

Sebastian held out his hand to the face Monarch, his intention entirely clear within those moments. He watched as that gold and black ring was pulled from his finger before it was afforded its new place upon his right hand. That new gold and silver colored wedding ring slid near perfectly upon his ring finger, the mere sight of it prompted that smile all over again. He could hardly help that small chuckle that left his lips at Dorian’s insistence that marriage quite suited him. "Only to you, Ma Bichette." He muttered softly, his gaze settled on that ring upon his finger. This was surely exactly where he belonged. It was that sensation of Dorian leaning against him that drew the vampire from his thoughts, the man instead reached forward for his lovers hand, letting his fingers entwine with Dorian's own with the sheer intent to see those two wedding rings side by side. How he so adored that sight, that sense of finality altogether firm within him and yet he so eagerly embraced it. The prospect of forever in Dorian's arms was so wholly gratifying and yet, any further consideration was interrupted only by that gentle touch upon his knee.

Those blue colored eyes glanced almost inquisitively towards the Monarch and yet, Sebastian was hardly prepared for the mention of that very topic that had frustrated him to the point that he he had declared marrying the King an impossibility - well, when his mind was laden with the effects of Arlo's own poison. He could hardly stop that soft sigh that left his lips in return before slowly nodding, "I have." He confirmed though the vampire had failed thus far to truly come up with a solution that he found acceptable. It wasn't that he was against taking Dorian's last name, quite the contrary, he expected it, to a degree and yet, he was wholly uncertain of what to do with his own - each of those names held a distinct purpose to him. It was his mother's maiden name that he'd taken for much of his own businesses, his father's promised to keep alive if only for that heritage, and the third was of the beginning of their family's legacy in the world of aristocracy. He had considered in great detail which he might be willing to go without and which were of true value to him and yet, before he could even voice his own hesitation upon that very topic, Dorian seemed entirely keen to continue all the same.

He was hardly surprised by the confirmation that the Aragona last name was near required of him, that a necessity he knew came well with royalty. What he hadn't expected was that inquiry upon the King's part to ask permission for his own last name in turn. His eyebrows furrowed ever so slightly and yet, he hardly saw a reason to stop the man who continued with a soft hint of that nervousness. He hardly anticipated for Dorian to so eagerly taken up the notion of combining both of their last names, the sheer length of his own had certainly stopped the vampire from suggesting it in the first place. His head slowly tilted to the side and yet, he could hardly stop that worry that, perhaps, Dorian was doing this to please him alone, he who saw such terrible importance in keeping his solemn word to his long deceased father. "You….would do that for me?" He inquired with a subtle hint of uncertainty. There was no denying that it was an ideal solution and yet, Sebastian had not hoped for something so….perfect.
