    Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawethorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three story townhouses, often with a one to two car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces.

you could rattle the stars.
you could do anything,
if only you dared

It wasn’t the first time Elain had made mention of her brother. Perhaps she should ask, it would be rude not to, but the assassin couldn’t bring herself to care. Not really; well, at least not yet. She had agreed to do dinner, mostly because she was curious or rather, Elain seemed so much like Sam, perhaps the witch craved the closeness of a female companion. Though, she would never quite admit that to herself. The woman had a difficult admitting her own feelings to herself and even better at hiding them from others. What better way than to project violence and anger rather than deal with her problems? It worked for the most part. It made people leave her alone; with the exception of a select handful of people. Elain being one of them.

Vhalla is aware of Ellie’s eyes on her as they walk silently through the street, though, the assassin doesn’t deign to say anything, not for a while. The silence eventually gets the better of her as she inquires about her choice as to becoming a dark hunter. The woman’s response has Vhalla’s eyes widening in surprise as she turns her icy gaze onto the woman. She had read about Dark Hunter transformations and they were less than pleasant. To think that this girl had chosen that on her own and survived was… impressive. A multitude of questions burn in the back of her throat, but she swallows them, Elain had offered her no prying questions, the least she could do was return the favor.

Instead, Vhalla gives a small incline of her head in respect, shifting her hands in her pockets just as the arrive at the townhouse. Following her inside, her gaze travels across the home, inspecting the cozy interior. It felt very much like a home, much more than her warehouse apartment which merely held a place to sleep and a few personal knickknacks. As she moves farther into the home, she peeks at the few possessions they had, from photos to little things. She doesn’t dally on them long, hardly looking at the pictures before she moves into the kitchen and finds a place to sit as she explains she had never had a home cook meal. There’s a genuine look of surprise from Elain that is not lost on Vhalla but the assassin merely shrugs her shoulders. She had never known such things, there was no point in attempting to provide herself with those lost things. “Sounds delicious,” Vhalla comments, her icy gaze tracking Elain’s movements as she moves to the fridge and begins to work on the veggies.

Offering to help, Elain denies her which, in turn, has Vhalla shrugging once more at her. “I feel weird just standing and watching you,” Vhalla admits with a sigh as she comes around the table to stand next to Elain. “Here, let me at least chop the vegetables, I’m good with a knife,” she mentions vaguely but doesn’t allow herself to explain further on it. Instead, she plucks the kitchen knife from Elain’s hand and ushers her out of the way with a swing of her hips. A small smile appears on her plump lips as she begins to work on the vegetables, chopping them deftly and efficiently, precise cuts every time. Elain’s question draws her out of her concentration and she pauses briefly, eyes darting to the girl at her side, “About a year of living but I’ve traveled here a lot when I was younger. It was the first place I’ve ever lived that supernaturals like us were accepted,” she explains turning back to the veggies. “What brought you and your brother here?” she asks, hearing the creak of the stairs though she makes no move to turn.

Elain had mentioned she lived with her brother, Vhalla could only imagine it was him coming down. Sensing no danger, she almost finishes her work when a vaguely familiar voice drifts into the room. There’s a familiarity to it and yet she can’t quite place it, until he rounds the corner and halts, his eyes locking on her in surprise, just as her ice blue gaze raises to meet his. Blinking at him, it takes a minute to place him, only to realize he had been the one she had met at the strip club, had given him that bruise that so sported his cheek now. “Oh,” was all she said at first, setting the knife on the cutting board before turning back to him, a mocking smile beginning to toy at the corner of her lips as her eyes narrow in on him, as if he were her prey. “So, this is where you slinked off to last night,” she states, a note of amusement dancing in her lyrics before answering his question, “I was invited for dinner.”

She pauses only long enough to see his reaction, “Ellie, this is your brother? If you didn’t know already, he’s kind of a dick,” Vhalla says, turning towards the woman next to her, not realizing she had just given the girl a nickname. Perhaps it was because the man had called his sister Ellie and it merely stuck with Vhalla. Turning back to Laz, she grins at him lazily, “I told you, you couldn’t handle me; not even your filthy money,” she purrs delightedly, that hunter so lurking behind her eyes. After she had wailed on the man, she had gone home a drank herself into a stupor, trying to forget that he had told her he would pay for her services. It was bad enough Ivan sold her off to friends or businessmen he needed to be in good graces. Her personal life was her own and she wouldn’t let some asshole merely suggest paying her for such services. There’s a flash of anger in the pit of her stomach at the recent memory, but she’s careful to hide it, to snuff it out. She was better today and had zero alcohol in her system; now, she wanted to play.
