However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three story townhouses, often with a one to two car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces.

you could rattle the stars.
you could do anything,
if only you dared

Perhaps the talk of death would have put Vhalla in a foul mood and it would have if Lazarus hadn’t appeared in the doorway, looking like he might pop a blood vessel. Any thoughts of past memories empty from her mind as she watches him in surprise, obvious delight dancing in her eyes though there seems to be a tinge if cruelty haunting the edges of her frame. The assassin wasn’t typically a cruel woman but she was convinced that the man before her deserved it, and her taunting was the least she could do, at least in her eyes. Vhalla doesn’t have a chance to respond to Ellie before the man is dropping threats left and right, while Vhal’s only response is that mocking grin that so adorns her plump lips. She was going to enjoy this. And when he jabs a finger at her, the woman merely grasps onto his index finger, twists and he’s stumbling towards her, if she had yanked any farther he would have fallen straight into the smaller white haired woman. Elain’s chiming laughter echoes through the house and Vhal’s grin only widens as those green eyes of his glow with a fiery rage. Oh, she had finally met her match; someone who could counter her anger with his own.

It was exciting.

She almost laughs when his next words rage through the house, batting those luscious eyelashes at him and feigning sickening sweetness. When he finally moves and settles himself on the couch, she uses that nickname and she can see she’s hit a nerve. Tucking away that little piece of information, she turns back to Ellie, murmuring quietly to her that she would be more than happy to leave. Her response has Vhalla nodding at her, a fainter softer smile thrown at the younger woman’s direction. Ellie drops an unfamiliar name, though the assassin doesn’t think much on it before her attention has returned to Lazarus, his snapping voice reaching her ears, “What would you prefer I call you? Oh wait, I’ve got it,” she snaps her fingers as she settles herself on the counter, aware of Elain shoving the food in the oven, “I think dickhead will suit you nicely,” Vhalla grins cruelly at him, her head tilting him as she enjoyed their game of cat and mouse. And truly, Vhalla was nothing more than a wildcat toying with her prey, teasing and taunting him before she would devour him.

When the woman teaches him self defense, his response his priceless and Vhalla can’t help but release that musical laughter that bubbles from her lips, such a beautiful and girlish sound so at odds from the woman that sound so emitted from. “My, you are a joy aren’t you?” She responds, that amusement so weaving it’s way through her lyrics as she arches a brow at him. And just to see what he would do, “Next time, plant your feet wider and use your core, you won’t be pulled off balance. Utilize your weight,” she comments, before turning away from him and focusing on Ellie at her side as the younger woman talks about the man, “Like I said before, I feel sorry for you,” she reiterates her words from earlier and begins to chat softly back and forth with Elain, ignoring the man on the couch, who she truly did not know the name of, though she wouldn’t stoop to get it. Perhaps she would come up with a plethora of names for him, she already settled on one she liked but Vhalla was creative.

The drinking of the television plays in the background as she enjoys her time with Elain; that headache from earlier long gone along with that foul mood she had so found herself in. It was easier to smile at the bright young woman, laugh with her as they talked about nothing. Vhalla inquired about her time in Sacrosanct and the assassin returned with stories of her own, though she very carefully kept her job description hidden, merely stating she worked in customer service. A lie, but if she had told the two she was an assassin she wasn’t entirely sure what would happen, perhaps it would push the brother right over the edge and he would attack her then and there. She truly did not want to burn the townhouse to the ground and she had a feeling that’s exactly what would happen if she let herself mention she killed people for a living. So, she carefully dodged personal questions, not sure if Lazarus or Elain notice her lack of explanation on her personal life.

Before long, the timer is going off and Vhal watches Elain bustle around the kitchen, pulling the casserole from the oven. The delicious aroma that feels the home has Vhal’s mouth salivating as her eyes are drawn to the steaming food. “Oh, that smells wonderful Elain,” Vhalla groans as she helps set plates and forks out; the man entirely forgotten as she’s too focused on the food before her. Once everything is settled and ready to eat, her blue eyes snap to the brother lounging on the couch, “Hey dickhead, come eat,” Vhal snaps at him, finding a seat next to Elain rather than tormenting Lazarus more than she already was. Once everyone is settled and they start to serve themselves food, Vhal begins to pile food onto her plate, enough for two full grown men. What could she say? She ate a lot. Magic always made her hungry and this was how she replenished her energy. Starting to dig in, that first bite was an explosion of flavor in her mouth and she moans in delight, “Elaaaaaain, this is so good!” She explains, drawing out her friend’s name.

“I think you should come live with me instead and cook for someone who appreciates it,” Vhal’s eyes dart to the honey blonde woman, a gentle smile toying at the corner of her lips before she turns that icy gaze on Lazarus, brows arched as he continues to glare at her, “If you’re contemplating trying to kill me, glaring won’t do it. Although, if you used that fork you are about the bend in your hand that might at least draw some blood,” she shrugs at him nonchalantly before returning to her food, relishing every bite she took. How wonderful it was! “Let’s go out next time, so we can leave this drag at home and us girls can have fun,” she suggests to Ellie, realizing that she truly was enjoying herself in the woman’s presence. Though, she could do without Lazarus but she would take what she could get from the woman, she was a bright light in Vhal’s dark world. Plus, Ivan seemed content to merely harass the men that have gone in and out of her life, never a woman friend. Perhaps he thought she would bring one to him in the future. Pulling her dark thoughts from Ivan, she returns to her food with obvious delight as she devours it energetically.

Vhalla finishes, before piling seconds into her plate, not as much as before, but she had ate almost as much of not more than the brother and sister combined. How she was not fat was a mystery to most people, mainly because she practically trained every day in that ridiculous gym she invested in, in the bottom half of her warehouse. Munching away, content for the moment, she allows the conversation to carry where it may entirely too focused on her meal at this point. Once she finishes, Vhalla leans back in her chair an audible ‘oof’ emitting from those luscious lips. “I’m definitely kidnapping you so you can be my personal chef,” she replies to Elain, that faint smile, she so often used with the woman, toying on her lips. She parts her lips to say more until she feels that painful tug in her abdomen. Of fucking course, Ivan would summon her now. Flinching at the sudden pain, she’s quick to cover it, though she’s not certain she can hide it fast enough. Leaning forward, she tries to ignore it at least for awhile but as always, Ivan had impeccable timing and clearly whatever he wanted couldn’t wait as he pulls even harder on that bond.

She has to bite back a groan of annoyance, “Elain, I forgot I had some work to do tonight and I just remembered,” she frowns at the woman though her tone holds that apologetic note without actually apologizing to the woman. Pushing back from the table, she carries her dish to the sink and quickly washes it, setting it on the counter. Fetching a pen from nearby and a piece of paper, she scribbles a phone number down on it before handing it to her newfound friend, “Here’s my number,” she pauses, “Will you call me? I was serious about going out,” Vhal grins at her before settling a hand on her hip, “Don’t text me though because I don’t know how to work my phone that well, just leave me a message,” she explains with a shrug of her shoulder. “Thank you again for tonight, it was wonderful,” she dips her head in Ellie’s direction. “As for you, always a pleasure, dickhead,” she grins wildly at him, saluting him with such a mocking gesture, she manages to flip him off in the processes, carefully hiding it from Elain. Again, she murmurs goodbyes before she shows herself out and exits the home into the cold night, following her summons to Ivan.
