i'm not ashamed of my scars, i'm ashamed of the world for not understanding.

Standing here within the lounge area with its leather couches, tapestry rug, stellar polished floors, decorative columns and other such fancy things, Raven felt most assured out of place. If there was anything in this room that didn’t belong it was plainly obvious the shabby dressed she-wolf wasn’t supposed to be here. Everything appeared old, but not in a stuffy and terrible way. More like redefined status. Surely some of these items had many stories to tell, and if she accidentally broke anything, the lupine doubted she would be able to pay and replace it. Blue-grey eyes roamed over the shiny trinkets that stood on those shelves, looking over them quietly, waiting for the one that had invited her. It was the familiar sound of paws slamming on the floor that stirred her from looking in the room, judging herself poorly, as her attention turned to the joyful canine. Bending down she gently stroked the puppy finding him out of place within the lounge, just like her. A dog, not even a cat belonged inside this immaculate home. It was the vocal sound of her friend that made the woman stand back up right. A small appeared as she nodded in greeting to the man. As he approached her she watched in puzzlement as he kissed each side of her cheek, a bit caught off guard as to what she was required to do, was she supposed to kiss back? Unable to figure it out, she remained completely still, until he gestured for her to sit. Obediently she followed after him, still grinning all the same, speaking elatedly.

“Dorian, it’s great to see you too! I have missed our talks.”

It had been quite a while since she had last seen the Fae King. She was aware that he was a King and that he could not simply run off and do as he pleased. He had responsibilities. When they had first met no one was aware of him, but now his photo was in magazines. Of course she did not read such things, but when she went to the grocery store it wasn’t difficult to find them. At times when she was standing in such a long line she would glaze through them, shaking her head in disappointment at the scandalous writings about her friend, sadden to see that he was being treated poorly by the media. Although Raven was quite an introverted person she still craved that human interaction. Of course she could get that with her mate, family, and the workers at the Ark, but she always did what she could to be close to her witch, the red-headed vampire, the Were-vixen, and Fae King. As Maxwell was placed upon the couch, with Dorian’s help, she grinned as he came towards and plopped down. Extending her hand for him to sniff her, she gently stroked behind his ear, grinning as he leaned into her hand, wagging his tail fervently. It was the sound of light feet hitting the floor that made the lupine look up. Blue-grey eyes widened in shock as she looked over at the fine china and golden tea cups and saucers. There were a lot of gold and treasured items within the cargo spaces of the Ark and she hardly bothered them. However, seeing that he was using such find dining ware for her was absolutely dumfounding, there was no need for her mangy paws to touch it. When Elizabeth asked how she wished to have her tea, Raven stared at the woman, simply horrified. She wanted to serve herself, because she shouldn’t be served to. Softly she stammered, her voice holding a squeak to it, as her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.

“Oh no, I can do it myself, I...um....milk and two sugar please.”

Being handed the golden cup on the saucer, she stared at it with hopelessness, never having held anything so...expensive. The most expensive thing she ever held, or even wore, was the engagement ring her mate had given her. That blue diamond clearly sparkling on her left hand. Holding those items she was stuck. She knew how to drink her tea, but she didn’t really know how to with something made of such fine metal material. It was natural for the Fae King to drink his tea, because he was used to it. Terrified that she would somehow break the golden cup and saucer she dare not bring it to her lips, feel quite uncomfortable. Which led to being served to. No one ever treated her like that before. Truly it was no different than if she was at a restaurant and a waiter brought her a drink and food, or when she was at the Ark requiring a drink from the bartender, but having a servant doing it...was just...she couldn’t comprehend it. It was the sound of Dorian speaking that made Raven leave her thoughts and refocus on the man. Nodding her head slowly, with a small smile, she nervously looked at the man.

“Oh, yes I’m okay...it’s just...um...I’m not used to this. Being served and everything here, and those people. I swear I didn’t say anything, your assistant told me not to, but they are very grabby. They’ll leave me alone, right?”

She hated attention. The last thing she needed was a crowd of people poking their nose within the Ark. Tetradore would hardly approve such a thing and neither would her mate. Although she was a kind-hearted woman she would not be pleased with their appearance either. There was no need for anyone to poke into their lives, and personally she wanted to leave the past in the past. The last thing she wanted to see at the grocery store was her face plastered all over the covers of the magazine. Seeing that the gold cup would not break if she drank from it, thanks to observing Dorian, she gingerly took a sip for a spilt second and then placed it back on the saucer. With a big smile she looked over to her friend, wishing to start off the conversation.

“Thank you very much for that drawing you did for my mate, it was beautiful. I’ve been meaning to tell you, he proposed to me a few weeks ago. I hope he wasn’t too much trouble, I sincerely apologize for that.”
