However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three story townhouses, often with a one to two car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces.

Equal Opposites
In Balance
Dorian Aragona

It had hardly escaped the Monarch’s notice in those few moments of greeting just how decidedly….stiff the young woman appeared. Raven seeming almost nervous, if not dreadfully insecure and yet what on earth had placed the woman so ill at ease he hardly knew. His own silver gaze drifted briefly about that room in search of anything that might so offend the woman’s sensibilities else otherwise bring her some distress and yet Sebastian’s own aversion to silver assured that not even an ounce of that offending metal adorned the room in any sense. The vast majority of that space given to those dark wooden floorboards, leather couches and artworks that surrounded the room above those immaculate bookshelves and fine decorations. Dorian assured none of those paintings were offensive in any sense and yet how out of place she appeared! Dorian quite having to assure he she was permitted to seat. The woman doing so in a fashion so sudden it was almost as if he had ordered it. A faint touch of amusement finding him all the same as he regarded her before taking his own seat. Only for Maxwell to falter in his efforts to do that same. Dorian sighing softly before helping the bow-tied puppy onto that couch beside Raven where he promptly positioned himself to be stroked. The Fae certain that Maxwell intended to spend his life being afforded such privilege.

That sudden arrival of Elizabeth with that tea tray readily saw the Monarch wave his hand toward Raven in that unspoken request to serve his guest first. Raven attempting to assure the woman she could make the tea herself as Dorian struggled to maintain that amusement that tugged at him again. Elizabeth appearing equally as baffled by why the Werewolf might desire to make her own tea before Raven at last conceded and ad that tea cup and saucer handed to her. Dorian reaching for his own in turn as that tray was laid down and that pile of sweet biscuits placed next to it. He lifted that tea to his own lips eagerly, Raven appearing to have become almost frozen again as if she feared spilling that hot tea upon herself. Dorian eyeing her almost quizzically now. Perhaps she disliked tea? The Monarch finally content to ask whether or not she was alright. The woman seeming flustered all over again before declaring she wasn’t used to this. The idea of being served apparently baffling to her. Dorian himself having spent an entire lifetime being afforded just that treatment until the point the man hardly knew what to do without those house staff. His lips parted then, ready to assure her that it was perfectly alright and that if she really wanted to make her own tea they could surely show her to the kitchen before that mention of ‘those people’ saw his own features frown. His head shaking softly.

“They are a bother to be sure. They never leave that gate. Sebastian and I have taken to going out the back or the sides else sending another car ahead of us for them to run after. We are hoping things will settle down after February. I am quite sure they will leave you alone though- once you leave. They will try to ask you more questions but it is best if you ignore them entirely, even if you feel impolite. Take a longer road home and they will likely lose interest. I am sorry about that.”

He disliked to think of his very own guests so being harassed by that press. Raven’s picture sure to appear in several of those foolish gossip magazines now and yet, unless she engaged with them there was every chance they might be willing to merely release her from their sights in the coming weeks as no more than a diplomatic visitor of some kind. Raven at last apparently having decided that tea cup was safe enough to drink from, Dorian relaxing further into his own chair then, that smile suddenly seeming to spread across the woman’s features as it so had a habit of doing any time she mentioned her mate. The Fae King chuckling softly then, his own smile finding his features at news of that engagement.

“It was a pleasure to do it, I quite enjoyed myself and I thought such a book was an exquisite idea. Your mate was a most….unusual fellow. I quite fear things may have gone better had he used his words a little more. I fear my security team, at first, mistook him for a possible threat but once it was worked out I found him to be, well, different- but intriguing. He’s quite clever isn’t he?”

That this was the first time anyone else had ever mentioned Tobias being ‘clever’ had hardly occurred to the Monarch. Dorian instead focused upon choosing his words carefully so as not to offend the woman. The man assured ‘different’ and ‘unique’ were suitably acceptable and yet he meant them with no true harshness at all. Dorian entirely sincere in those descriptions. After all, Tobias was a decidedly unique fellow in every sense of the word. Dorian reaching for a sweet biscuit then.

“I am thrilled to hear of your engagement though. Congratulations! I hoped you would say yes although I was assured you would, the way you spoke of him and all. Is that your ring? Might I see it? It is quite lovely. Tell me of the engagement, I should like to hear how it happened, I enjoy those stories.”

He saw no need to mention his own pending engagement, at least not yet, Dorian content to make such a moment about his companion alone. Besides, with the way those magazines had been he was rather assured Raven knew about his plans to marry already. How they spoiled some things! Such thoughts cast side for now as his silvered gaze remained upon her own with a clear intrigue for that story- should she care to share it.
