dance to the rhythm of your heartbeat

Only once before tonight had the blue-eyed blonde done something this bold, and still it hardly even came close to tonight. Like most all of her memories that she held in her heart, she could remember clearly a night not too unlike this one, though it had been a warm summer night in the more wild parts of Willowhaven. The stars there always seemed to glitter and dance like she'd never seen before and it was perhaps the one thing she missed almost as much as her family when she would be sitting in that small apartment in Sacrosanct. In the big city, it was hard for the young woman to see the stars from that bedroom window, and though looking at Beylani no one might guess that she was a little homesick as of late, there'd been a night not long ago where she'd been restless, staring up at the violet sky with a melancholy sigh on her lips as baby blues searched longingly for those diamonds in the sky only to find lights blinking from the distant towers perched on the far off mountains that cradled the vast city or the signal lights upon the wings of those steel airplanes that came and went. She thinks back now to that night when she and a few of her girlfriends were sitting out in the pasture on her parents' property."We should call the guys and go skinny dipping!", the brunette sitting to her right in that tall and gently swaying grass quietly with mischief glittering in her gaze as long milk chocolate locks fell down to the small of her black. Beylani had given her friend a horrified look then, but Jordan hardly seemed phased by it. They were seniors in high school, and her friends were feeling rebellious as they sat metaphorically perched on the brink of womanhood."I love that idea! Come on, Lani, don't be such a goody two-shoes! I'm sure Brayden would love to see you naked by moonlight in the river", giggled a platinum blonde as emerald green eyes glittered impishly at the blue-eyed blonde that sat between the two. She'd blushed then, shifting nervously in the place she sat."Ummm, I don't know... What if we get caught?", Beylani had said then, her voice a mere whisper like her mother and father might hear her from all the way out here if she spoke too loudly. Jordan rolled her eyes then before removing that phone from her pocket and began typing up a text message that she likely sent to Brayden, Nathaniel, and Josh."Brittany is right, Lani. We both know you haven't done the dirty yet, and graduation is next week. Brayden will be going away for college, so this might just be your last chance to fix that", Jordan said nonchalantly despite how Beylani had wised her eyes then while Brittany only giggled louder with clear amusement.

Unlike Jordan and Brittany, the blue-eyed blonde woman had yet to experience that part of life. She'd always been told that... such things were to be saved for that one special person she would want to spend the rest of her life with. Sure, she and Brayden had been a couple back then and he'd definitely suggested that they take a drive down to that same river one night, just on the outskirts of that small rural town where hardly anyone ventured and cars hardly ever drove by. It was the "hot spot" for those peers of hers to go and do those things that they shouldn't, like drinking or smoking or making love in the back seats or truck beds. But Beylani, she just wasn't part of that crowd."Well... okay...", she'd agreed hesitantly then, Jordan and Brittany practically tackling Beylani in that moment as she giggled delightedly "Awesome! We'll take Brittany's car", Jordan stated with a finality that told the blue-eyed blonde there was no backing out now, almost instantly wishing she'd refused them. They'd piled into that red mustang then and set off towards the river, her nerves only rising with every passing mile. When they'd reached the river, sure enough Brayden's black pick-up truck was there, the blonde man accompanied by black-haired guys she knew to be Joshua and Nathaniel, the trouble-making brothers that made it a game to get with every girl that they could coax into their sheets. The next thing she knew, everyone was undressing, the girls running into the trees giggling girlishly as she stripped down to bare skin. It was Beylani who hesitated, fighting her friends who nearly ripped those clothes off of her and shoved the blue-eyed blonde into the water."You're not backing out now!", Jordan insisted as she jumped into the cool water beside Beylani who, like this very moment in the hotsprings, sunk into the water up to her chin with cheeks flushed. When they moved to where the boys were with those wolfish smiles on their faces, she'd nearly lost it. Jordan and Brittany practically climbed into the arms of the brothers, wasting no time to start in on suggestive conversation and flirtatious laughter while Brayden tried to move closer to Beylani, attempting to grasp her arm and pull her to him. She'd surprised herself in that moment as she pulls away."What gives? I thought you wanted to... ya know. That's what her text said, or else I wouldn't have come", he'd said, a small scowl on his face then. This was where she'd drawn the line. How dare Jordan sell her out like that!"I'm sorry, Brayden. I didn't know that she said that. They just told me we were going skinny dipping. But I'm not ready for... that", she'd said firmly then. That was the night her last "intimate" relationship had ended, sending her climbing out of the river and into the back of that mustang as she waited for her friends to finish their little twilight adventure she hadn't wanted any part of in the very beginning.

Ever since that night, she'd refrained from spending too much time with those girls, not that they seemed keen on wanting to hang out with the blue-eyed blonde that much either. They'd told her she was no fun, that she needed to live a little or else she'd end up alone for the rest of her life but Beylani refused to listen to their poor ideas, not soon to forget how they'd treated her like she had to be like them and lose that purity to someone she was almost certain wouldn't stick around in her life. Tonight was different, though. Andras was not some teenage boy pressuring her into anything. If anything, it was Beylani that couldn't help the thoughts that threatened to unravel her. She'd never had such fantasies about Brayden. Never. But Andras, he made her feel things she was still so new to, and while they made her heart thunder wildly in her breast to the point where she was nearly beginning to feel light-headed, she couldn't deny that she didn't like them... He doesn't like me like that though, there's no way, she'd thought to herself in another vain attempt to calm herself down. Even if he did say last night that he found me attractive... As she remains submerged in the steamy water, very much thankful for the lack of light aside from the silver moonlight and dim candlelight that hardly did a thing to penetrate through the darkness, he rises from where he'd been sitting and the baby blues widen, her breathing quickens as her heart pounds even louder in her chest as the water ripples around his waist, the chiseled muscle of his chest and abdomen almost causing her to stop breathing altogether. He was every bit the man any woman, human or fae, would want... and she was absolutely bare beneath the warm water. Maybe she just couldn't see the trunks, maybe they were loose-fitting and hardly clinging to his hips.... Breathe in, breathe out... She has to practically repeat these words in her mind and still it didn't do a thing to settle her, amusement clearly etched into those handsome features of the fae man as he settles himself nearby, draping those strong arms over the back of the ledge, dark hazels holding baby blues as quiet laughter falls from him, midnight tenor tones assuring her that she wasn't intruding though before she is able to think of sighing in quiet relief, he makes it clear that he also wasn't wearing anything. Again she feels her head grow light as she's swept back up into that memory of their firelight encounter, when she'd seen all of him . She swallows and offers a nervous chuckle as she shifts on her sitting place, rising just enough out of the water that her collar bone could be seen, supple breasts still hidden beneath the steam.

Baby blue eyes can see even through the weak light of the night sky above them those features of his grow tense at her question, and for a fleeting moment she is able to forget about their current predicament as she watches his face closely, her gaze falling to that scar she hadn't noticed until now as his hand brushes against it for a moment as he seemed to gather his words. He begins to speak and she listens intently. He begins with how they were in fact born though the was rare, and for some reason that seemed to make sense in her mind. Her eyes widen though as he continues on, explaining that humans could be changed but that such acts were nearly treasonous and that the fae who would commit such an act that resided within his court would be executed without a single hint of hesitancy or remorse. It almost surprised her how stern and serious those hazel depths become and yet she reminds herself that he was High Lord, which in her mind equivalent to being a king. He pauses briefly, almost hesitantly as he then goes on to explain how it was that a human would be turned and she shudders beneath his words. It sounded absolutely horrible, nightmarish even. She couldn't even imagine enduring something like that. She watches as he gives a small shrug, closing hazel eyes for a moment as he rubs his face as if to chase away some memory or thought. A part of her wanted to ask why a fae would want to turn a human, why it was that it seemed something weighed on him in that moment after his words had ceased, anything to keep herself from letting her mind take her back to that place that was looking so very closely to her forethoughts. Before she can find the words to ask more, he expresses his want to change the subject and suddenly he is giving her that wry smile before it shifts into something all too familiar and she feels herself shiver unbidden beneath that predatory gaze as his hazel eyes commanded the full attention of those baby blues as he moves ever closer to her."Oh, ummm, well", she stammers as, again, that wave of lightheadedness washes over her and she forgets to breathe as those midnight tenor tones only bring forth those fantasies in nearly full force as her mind begins to conjure up the possibilities of where things could go beneath the cover of night under the stars and embraces by the steam and warm water, her mind suddenly becoming so very aware of that candlelight."I... I mean, well...", she stammers again as she struggles to collect herself. Where was thay boldnss she'd had last night?! He purrs those satin words at her now and she's imagining her bare skin pressed against his own like back in that department store, when they'd had clothes on and how even then he'd electrified her with his touch. Her throat is suddenly dry as she feels her heart would burst with the fericenes that it beat. He reaches from her then, brushing those wet blonde strands behind her ear only to rest that strong hand on her flushed cheek that she so suddenly imagines caressing her bare shoulders, moving slowly down her slender frame until... Her thoughts go no further then as suddenly she is swallowed by pitch black, fainting beneath the intensity of that gentle touch.
