you were the answer to my dreams

It had been sometime, truly, since the vampire had been gifted a present on his birthday. His staff was either kept in the dark of the importance of that singular day, or quite purposefully ensured those presents showed up mysteriously on his desk or bedside table the days after, when he might be far more receptive to their existence. Still, as those navy eyes fluttered upwards towards those dazzling silver hues eyes, he found himself wholly unable to resist his fiance. The Monarch seemed so distinctly pleased with himself and that meticulously wrapped gift, enough so for the Englishman to reach out to take the box within his hands in the same fashion he had agreed to do nearly a week ago. His fingers lightly caressed that bow before he undid those pieces of tape. That unwrapping was done with far more care than any average individual's exciting tearing. A glimpse of inquisitiveness crossed his features as he pulled that box from that wrapping. A small flip of that lid revealed hundreds upon hundreds of cards, the edges almost appeared akin to a rainbow. His gaze fluttered towards Dorian, entirely uncertain of exactly what he was staring at. He watched as the King plucked a single card from that stack, providing the Englishman was an explanation of precisely the contents.

It was clear, in that moment, the thoughtfulness that clearly when into that simple present. As absurd as those mannerisms surely were, that politeness was so deeply ingrained within the vampire. It felt so distinctly rude to simply ignore those gifts that had been flooding in ever since the announcement of their upcoming wedding. Those members of the public put in such effort, thought, and money that, surely, they too deserved some sort of acknowledgement of their kindness, at the very least. Admittedly, he would likely go through those cards rather quickly. Sebastian's fingers gingerly reached out to take that card from his lover, his own fingers lightly ran over those more detailed parts of that border, one crafted by the Monarch himself. His own words were all together soft as he assured the man at his side how lovely he found that artwork his lover had done just for his benefit. Even despite the simple fact that today was the singular day in which Sebastian was meant to be afforded those very gifts, he still felt just as inclined to ensure Dorian knew how much he appreciated that thought and time that went into such a personalized gift, those thank you cards altogether handy for this very reason. Even so, he could hardly just provide the Monarch with a blank card.

It was such in mind that the man shifted to his own side of the bed, plucking that pen from the top drawer only to scribble upon that card, a warm grin settling on his features with each passing word. It was with a sense of great amusement that he handed that card to his lover, letting the fae King be the very first soul to receive that newfound gift. Those navy eyes watched as Dorian took that offered card, the Monarch entirely keen to insist such a gesture was hardly necessary before Dorian found that quickly scrawled 'poem' of sorts. He could hardly help that chuckle that bubbled on his lips at Dorian's flattery of his poetic skills though Sebastian certainly held no such lofty ideas for his writing abilities. Such considerations, however, all but near vanished in the wake of that suggestion that, perhaps Dorian's figure required a more thorough examination. His eyebrows rose ever so slightly, though there was little denying that Dorian certainly received the entirety of Sebastian's attention in that singular moment. Hs gaze all but ravished that creamy skin as Dorian shifted towards the edge of the bed, that bed sheet falling away to reveal that perfect flesh.

His eyes slowly traveled upwards to meet those silver ones that glanced back at him, that assurance that Sebastian was correct in his assertion was hardly surprising in the slightest and yet, it was that mention of the front that aroused the vampire. He watched as Dorian's hand rose, only to brush over those toned muscles that he was denied sight of. Those hands seemed to drift lower and lower as the Monarch turned towards him and Sebastian so hungrily ate that very view he was afforded. That very anticipation had a fashion of only increasing those needs...at least, until he found himself wholly denied that very thing he desired. A groan left his lips as he leaned back against that bed with an almost childish pout. Those words he was given prompted little more than a particularly playful sticking out of Sebastian's tongue in revenge for all that he was kept from seeing. Even so, the vampire shifted to place that box of cards upon the bedside table, his attention only distracted by that coaxing to come and see the rain.

He hardly anticipated that sight his darkly hued eyes so fell upon in that moment. His lover's toned physique was all the more obvious in that almost lackadaisical position, those muscular arms falling so neatly across the man's chest only to reveal that equally as fit abdomen. There was something so distinctly breathtaking of the moonlight dancing across Dorian's bare skin. It was a sight he wholly wished to encase within his memory. How he might so enjoy to take his fiance under the pale light of that moon, even if such an idle fantasy would surely remain so. Dorian's own inclinations towards those intimate activities remaining behind closed doors certainly ensuring such. That view alone, however, was enough to coax the vampire from the warmth of those sheets. The Englishman made his way towards that beckoning form, his own hands found their place at his lover's waist. He was certainly far more interested in that given moment in the King's naked figure then that steady pitter patter of 'rain', at least until that gesture halted any advances he might have assaulted the fae with. His gaze turned towards the clear night sky with a glimpse of confusion, only to shift downwards to that bubbling fountain.

A glimpse of surprise crossed his features as his gaze traced over those deer that ran through that pool of water, that water falling over that wall to create that steady effect of a good London rain. His lips parted ever so slightly and yet, in that moment, those words escaped him. He knew well that this too was Dorian's own creation, particularly when deer were so very rare when it came to those water features. They had become his own symbol, in a way, and though they had discussed bringing that very fountain to life all those months ago, it was something else entirely to finally see all that hard work. His gaze was torn from that fountain only by Dorian's insistence that this second gift was hardly that much larger than those box of cards. The vampire could hardly help that look of incredulousness at that moment, that glance slowly turned into one of amusement as the vampire shook his head. "No, not much larger than the first." He agreed, only to lean forward to press his lips against the fae King's own. "Thank you, Dorian, for all of it." He uttered softly against his fiance's lips, the vampire entirely willing to admit that maybe this birthday wasn't all that bad after all. Maybe.
