What a perfectly odd fellow this Arlo was. Dorian quite unable to decide whether the other vampire was nervous, stressed or simply….an unusual sort of person. Of all the being’s he had so pictured his own lover befriending this man was certainly not what Dorian had anticipated even despite that video off the fellow playing that guitar they had watched several nights ago. The Monarch, perhaps, so presuming that tattoo-wearing, music playing man merely possessed such a demeanor on stage. Arlo possessing the sort of personality Dorian had, in all his time, never truly witnessed on a man. The Monarch finding himself near equally as intrigued as he was confused by the vampire. That utter shock on the other man's face was hardly missed as Dorian afforded him that distinctly English response. The Fae King so having learned the language near five centuries ago as part of his own education. After all, English, French, Spanish, Latin and Italian had all been considered critical languages by his tutor and he, like his brothers, had so been subject to understanding them if only to better allow them to converse with those dignitaries of a more foreign ilk. Exactly what language Arlo spoke Dorian found he had little idea. That sudden query as to whether or not it had been hard to learn was met with a nearly surprised look- no one yet having ever asked him if it had been hard.

“It was actually. I was only a child at the time which I suppose made it all he more of a challenge, but English is one of the harder languages to master- yes.”

It was, in the least, far more difficult than French or Spanish had ever been, both of those languages sharing traits with his native Italian. It was Abigail, however, that so readily drew his attention then. Dorian allowing that warm smile to find his lips at her eager discussion of those gardens that he himself adored. How pleasant it was to meet another whom appreciated those flowers so thoroughly, Dorian, for now, content to agree that surely it was by the manner of the good soil that their won garden remained so lavish in the winter. The Fae hardly willing to speak off his own talents with another vampire present. After all, no one outside Sebastian, Matteo, Alexander and a select few off his royal staff were aware of the extent off his affinity for life. Dorian so striving to keep it as such for now and yet the Fae so eagerly took up that conversation of flowers all the same before his hand reached for her own to afford her that age-old greeting. That striking flare of colour to the young woman's cheeks was hardly missed. Dorian unable to prevent that soft chuckle that hummed within his throat at the very sight of her. Ah, but how he might still make the ladies blush! Dorian, once, having taken a great delight in seeing how many of those ladies of court he could entertain with just that sort of gesture. The Monarch gently released her hand then as Sebastian descended those stairs and moved to offer that greeting to his friend. Dorian’s own words uttered a little more quietly then to Abigail alone in some effort to understand her companion. The woman softly assuring him it was the manner of the man's tie that was apparently to blame. Dorian so pausing to eye that article of clothing then. Arlo having fiddled with it until it was lopsided and far looser than it was designed to be worn. The Italian’s features frowning slightly.

“Oh, I see. They do take some getting used to I suppose. Perhaps he simply need experiment with it a little.”

Dorian himself had only learned of those ties in the past two years. The Fae having spent several months beneath Sebastian’s ever patient tutelage of just how to tie it. Dorian assured that his own knots still lacked Sebastian’s superiority and yet he had progressed distinctly since that first day. That the young woman was unlikely to understand just in what ways Arlo might experiment with that tie had readily occured to him. Sebastian alone surely the only one whom might understand all the uses for a tie in any sense. Dorian allowing that every subtle touch of impishness to find his features then at those far more intimate moments he remembered so perfectly well that had situated around ties. The sudden sound of Sebastian being told to ‘shut up’ readily saw the Monarch turn once more. Dorian blinking in surprise at that sudden shift in Arlo’s language once more. The Monarch unable to recall a time when he had ever heard someone speak this….casually. The other vampire seeming to have relaxed at least a little in Sebastian’s presence all the same. This mention of Panda pictures near utterly lost on him before Abigail promptly announced herself to be a real Panda. This manner of species, it seemed, one deemed critical by the woman before Arlo spoke animatedly of a guitar she had given him and off a band he so apparently possessed.

Had not Charles said something about his band? Or at least, a band the man had once been part of? Dorian finding himself decidedly curious of just what had happened within this entire affair and yet that simple politeness so dictated his silence upon such prying questions for now. The Monarch merely offering Sebastian that wholly curious look at Arlo’s mention that he had tried, on several occasions, to have Sebastian join this apparent musical ensemble. Dorian almost sure Sebastian had never mentioned any offers he had been given to join a band and yet he was so hardly surprised by his lovers simple refusal to do just that. The very idea of it along bringing that simple look of amusement to his features before Arlo asked after Abby and his own musical inclination. Dorian wholly reluctant to make any mention of those musical instruments from his past he had long ago given away playing and only ever learned to begin with because it was, at the time, unacceptable that a gentleman not be capable of at least some musical talent. Dorian allowing that sigh to pass his lips then, the Monarch never even truly having discussed such a thing with Sebastian before and yet- for good reason. Dorian so utterly loathed that instrument he had once mastered. The man assured it was utterly embarrassing if nothing else.

“I can play the Cornett, though I believe this is no longer an instrument. I was passable in my efforts at best but i fear i had nowhere near the mystery of Sebastian and his piano.”

That near blank look on Arlo’s features so readily assured the man of the notion that such an instrument had surely long passed out of favour. Dorian having come to dislike that instrument too if only for the sheer amount of teasing he had been subject too by his siblings. After all, so few instrument sounded so decidedly….Fae-like when played in any sense. Frankly he was sure it was better forgotten. Abigail’s soft suggestion that Sebastian and Arlo might surely play together sometime was met with a look of intrigue by the man all the same- that near pointed look he was afforded by the woman seeing both eyes raise momentarily before Dorian found himself near hurriedly agreeing. After all, women, he had found, were better agreed. Dorian hardly finding himself opposed to the idea all the same.

“Yes, I should quite like to hear you both, I think. Although I must ask, Abigail, where is it you grew up that did not possess musical instruments? Come, we should head into the dining room so you might tell me off it.”

Dorian had never heard of such a place! How terribly dull it must have been to have no such things. That clear curiosity present on his features then before his hand simply lifted to gesture to that adjoining room. Dorian content to lead the way into that lavish space and towards that perfectly decorated and set dinner table. Arlo’s sudden query of how many people were coming and why so many forks momentarily seeing Dorian pause once more. Had the man no idea of cutlery!? The Monarch hurriedly attempting to conceal his surprise once more.

“It is just you and Abigail tonight. The different forks are for different courses. You eat one meal with one set of cutlery, the next with another and so on. Do you not have different cutlery for different courses?”

That most people did not engage in multiple sets had not truly occured to Dorian in that moment. That near genuine look of intrigue on his features then before he moved to Abby’s side once more. Dorian gesturing then to that selected chair, after all, a woman should always be seated first regardless of the status of any other within the room. Dorian readily drawing her chair back for her before moving to seat himself opposite her, leaving that place beside her for Arlo to take up. The vampires seeming well engaged in their own conversation for a moment as Elizabeth appeared to begin pouring that wine. That ready grin returned to his lips once more. Dorian finding himself terribly intrigued with the woman all the same. After all, he had so little to do with Were’s in any sense, especially not those inclined to a type of animal he had never truly seen.

“Would you mind terribly if I asked you about your…..other state of being?”

How on earth one worded that politely he hardly knew. Dorian attempting so in that moment all the same, the man near prone to that hopeless curiosity at times.

“If you shouldn’t mind being asked, is it so that you can turn into a panda whenever you like? I fear I have never seen a red panda before, don’t worry I shant ask you to do it here and now, I have simply never met anyone quite like you. Does it hurt to shift yourself into an animal form? Do you still see in colour as a Panda?”
