    The South

Although the southern parts of the city might not have the luxuries of the north or the down town vibe of the east, but these suburbs still have their own sort of charm. Here small neighborhood owned shops often run rampant, individuals often know each other by first name. The west is a quaint, quiet part of town. It's the sort of place where children can be seen playing safely on the sidewalks and clamoring in the park. On the weekends in the families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters that surround the city.

    Hyde Park

    Hyde Park

Hyde Place takes up a large part of the Southern side of the city and includes a large playground, several fountains, and a small garden. The park is open from five in the morning till midnight though many shady characters may visit this place while it's technically "closed". The park has also been a venue for several concerts and hosts many holiday related events. Under a full moon, witches are often seen here for the sacred ground beneath the iconic Weeping Beech.

    The Outskirts

    The Outskirts

Beyond the city limits and over the bridge lies the deep, dark, and almost impenetrable forest. Often times seen as a way to guard this magical city from the world that surrounds it, many are entirely ignorant of the evil that may creep between those tree trunks. Many were-creatures use the forest for the transformations of their newest members and some even take to hunting here. It isn't particularly peculiar for people to go missing within this forest but once you get through, the rest of the world awaits.

To say that Emmy was a little trigger happy was an understatement. She was still very new to the city and wasn’t quite used to all the strange creatures that strolled the streets. From where she was from, it was practically illegal to be anything but human. Her being a witch is precisely what got her into the mess she currently found herself in. But this creature…this vampire, was something she had never encountered before. She wasn’t sure if they had a tendency to be good, evil, or somewhere in between. While she was happy he had helped ward off her attackers, she was still unsure about him.

His hands were open to her, showing her that he meant her no harm. Her sword was still poised at him as he slowly put his hands back into his pockets. He seemed relaxed, but she was as tense as ever. She was still so very unsure about him. However, he shouldn’t feel too bad…she had the same reaction when she met Raven just the previous night.

Emmy asks him what he was, hoping that he wasn’t the monster she had often read about in books like Twilight, Dracula, or even from movies like 30 days of Night. She didn’t have much experience at all with vampires, so she had no real clue how to react around him. His voice, though, was soft and soothing. Not to mention, his accent was to die for. She couldn’t help it that she found a man with an accent to be quite attractive. “I’m hoping my assumptions are wrong.” Granted, her assumptions were based mostly on folklore, but she had no one to rewrite her negative connotations about vampires. Maybe he could do that for her.

She senses the movement as he turns to walk towards her bag. She was just about to demand he leave her things alone before he’s already bending down to pick up the satchel. He walks closer to her, holding her bag out for her…as close as he could get to her without walking onto her sword. His words still appeared kind and she wanted to believe him. She wanted to believe that he meant her no harm. Raven had said the same thing and she had been true to her word. Maybe she should relax herself a little.

It’s only when he cracks the joke about his weak points that she slowly lowers the sword and moves to replace it in its sheath. Why would he openly disclose his weakness unless he was trying to prove that he truly didn’t mean any harm to her. She reaches for the bag once her sword is put away, grabbing it from him and hanging it loosely over her neck and shoulder so it laid across her chest. “I will kill you if you try to harm me.” Because of what had happened in her life, she was very slow to trust. Treat her right and she’ll eventually open up. Emmy was just one of those that reacted first – found out the reasons later. Perhaps if she had been raised to be a little more open with others, then maybe she wouldn’t be so distrusting.
