    The West

The western part of the city is often home to the poorer residents. Here there is a certain grunge that permeates the town from the graffiti on the once cleaned brick buildings to the broken and unmaintained architecture. Crime runs high within the western half of town, making it the home of supernatural gangs of illicit activities. Such activities are rarely reported however, and most residents are distrustful of individual's of authorities, instead letting the powerful supernatural beings sort things out amongst themselves. Be careful wandering the Western streets after the sun falls.

    Noah's Ark

Resting upon the harbor, Noah's Ark appears to be little more than an abandoned cargo ship. Accessible from an entrance hidden in the shadows, The Ark is a veritable Were-playground that specializes in fighting tournaments for all creatures great and small. With both singles and doubles tournaments to compete in, the title of Ark Champion is hotly contested amongst the Were population. If anything illegal is going on in the city it's sure to be happening within the back rooms or behind the ring-side bar.

Can I Trust what I Can’t See199.204.116.34Posted On October 02, 2017 at 7:24 AM by Calliel Alosi

People should really start to realize that humans aren’t so very different from their animal counterparts. The basic necessities are the same: territory, mate, offspring, and food. It’s something we all crave. It’s hard-wired within our brain. Sometimes it’s okay to give into that side and other times not so much. For example, men feel the need to fool around with multiple women rather than stay tied to one. If a guy wants to cheat on his other half, he might want to try and not react to that short of thinking, because he could end up dead. As a Were I am starting to learn that some wants and desires I have are magnified thanks to the horse part in myself. Frost was an ass. That was the absolute truth. I couldn’t agree more with the western-King’s statement, but at the same time, regrettably, I see Frost’s reasons. Frost was a horse. Stallions like to own many mares and own a lot of land. Stallions cannot share and they will be bullies to get what they want. Frost had land, he already had women in his harem, and now he wanted to go after another Alpha’s male property.  When a stallion sees a mare they want, they’ll do whatever it takes to get them, anything. Although if I was a male, and thank the man upstairs that I am not, I’d probably do the same thing, but I don’t think I’d attack a guy like Tetradore. I couldn’t help, but flinch when he raised his voice as he ranted about my creator. I don’t blame him for it. There are times when I yell at no one about him. He was right though about love and how people do stupid things. I know I need to work on getting this batter done if we’re going to cook it, but I really think he needs to hear something funny, at least to make him laugh. It sounds like he needs one anyways. So, nonchalantly I respond with a humorous story.

“When I was 7, maybe 8 years old, we were living with a tribe in Africa. There was a boy around my age that I really liked. So, I gave him a bowl I made from the mud and clay. It wasn’t the best looking bowl, but I was proud of it! I even managed to carve little animals as design with a stick. I gave him the bowl and said I loved him. He told me he rather be eaten by lions than be loved by a hippo. So, I smashed my bowl in his face…and then got in a lot of trouble. So, yes, love can make people do foolish things, and anger too.”

I gave him a small smile, shifting my eyes over to him for a moment, to see if maybe I managed to smooth his anger away. It was best not to mention Frost anymore with him. I don’t need him to think of him when he sees me. What is the one thing I can do to have liven up this little mopey cooking fest? Males have egos. Their egos need to be inflated sometimes. Hey I got it! Compliments! Yes, that’s what I should do, and so I shall! Of course I meant what I said though. Standing here alone with him in this kitchen without anyone else around, you could kind of tell what ever armor he wore was slowly coming off. I mean he still was guarded, but hearing that warm chuckle was a sign that he was getting comfortable? It was rather a nice sound, I like it. Although the more alcohol he drinks the more incoherent he’s going to get, and if he passes out on me I’m going to be stuck. I don’t know where anything is in this Ark, and it would be extremely suspicious if I’m dragging his passed out body around. That is, if I can drag his hulking self around. Well, I think that’s everything for the batter, best to mix it all up together now. Of course, all mixers are different, and I really should have been more careful when I flipped the switch. Seeing the batter fly around everywhere and land on the King of West enough to get me to turn it off completely, and look at him with complete awe and a tiny bit of fear. Just a tiny bit. It was hard to keep a straight face, because I really wanted to laugh. He looked hysterical! Grabbing the nearest towel that I could find, I gently press the cloth against his face to wipe some of it off. Though if the batter tasted good, that’s good, I mean that means the cake would be good too. Way to go Raven for your OCD order, and pointing out this recipe was his favorite. I don’t flinch when he moves to rub his thumb against my face to taste the batter again, I feel a bit at ease in his presence.

I have to admit I’m surprise that his touch was rather gentle. Not that he would inflict pain on me, I wasn’t thinking that. I was just…it didn’t seem natural is all. I don’t know. But I know I couldn’t wipe off that stupid grin on my face when he declared me as one of ‘us.’ I was an ‘us’ now, which meant I belonged somewhere. For a horse that was everything! We are not solitary creatures, we are social creatures, and I haven’t been quite social with my kind. Well, sort of. I mean I take care of legit horses in the stable so that’s enough, sort of. Not really, but it makes the pain a bit numb. Although I don’t really know what he means by ‘us.’ What did he do? I was so focused on the word that I didn’t think to see what he did. Turning around to see the bowl that held the batter, I notice that he put lines on my face to replicate whiskers, oh, I’m a cat! I’m not legitimately one of his. Silly me, I shouldn’t be thinking such things. Swinging my head back around I couldn’t help, but grin thinking of the most cliché response, I could have.

“Meow!”

It was his comment that I’d be a cute cat that caused me to blush. Although I couldn’t really tell. I was feeling gosh awfully warm, that amber liquid had done a lot to my head. I couldn’t help, but nod solemnly, affirming this ‘could have been’ theory.

“Damn straight, I’d be the cutest cat you ever saw!”

I turn the switch back on again, this time not at the fastest speed, and let the machine do its work. Leaning against the counter I couldn’t help but stare at my reflection and those whiskers he drew. Why did I have to a horse? I would have made a great cat. Walk around all slinky like instead of like some big animal stumbling around. I bet the shifting wouldn’t be as painful. Life wasn’t fair, I know this, but still! With a frown I bemoan my cursed fate.

“I hate being a horse. I’m this gigantic thing walking on stilts. You know what I miss, I miss being able to eat meat. I can’t stand the taste of it let alone the smell…I miss it.”

With a shake of my head I flip the switch off and remove the bowl from it. Gesturing for him to hold the bowl and pour it into the greased pain, I grab a spoon and try to get the rest of the contents out. With that all said and done, I grab the pan and place it into the oven and put in the timer. It would be about 30 minutes until it would be ready.

“Why don’t you come back with another bottle of rum, while I work on getting the ingredients for the icing, and you can treat yourself to the left over batter. We have a lot of time to kill before the cake is ever finished.
