    The West

The western part of the city is often home to the poorer residents. Here there is a certain grunge that permeates the town from the graffiti on the once cleaned brick buildings to the broken and unmaintained architecture. Crime runs high within the western half of town, making it the home of supernatural gangs of illicit activities. Such activities are rarely reported however, and most residents are distrustful of individual's of authorities, instead letting the powerful supernatural beings sort things out amongst themselves. Be careful wandering the Western streets after the sun falls.

    Noah's Ark

Resting upon the harbor, Noah's Ark appears to be little more than an abandoned cargo ship. Accessible from an entrance hidden in the shadows, The Ark is a veritable Were-playground that specializes in fighting tournaments for all creatures great and small. With both singles and doubles tournaments to compete in, the title of Ark Champion is hotly contested amongst the Were population. If anything illegal is going on in the city it's sure to be happening within the back rooms or behind the ring-side bar.

“Oh, I’ve already did find someone,”

I say quite tenderly. I set my hands on the countertop, as I turn my head in his direction. With my face straight, my electric blue eyes stare into his emerald ones, with such intensity. I wait patiently as I release a soft sigh, almost as if I am about to reveal a dark secret. My voice remains firm as I calmly state just who I considered to be the love of my life.

“Morgan, Jack, Jim, and Juan!”

I keep my face serious for a moment, until my lips pull back into a wide Cheshire grin. Laughing wholeheartedly I can’t help, but hold my head a little bit higher, quite proud of that set up. That’s why Mister Kitty King, I got jokes! He seemed quite solemn all the time, for only knowing him an hour or so, that I think he really ought to relax and have some fun time. He did tell me that everyone’s either afraid of him or they want to challenge him. It’s a hard life I bet. Not something I think he deserves, but if I can make him laugh for a little bit, well, maybe his life wouldn’t be that bad. After all I have no interest in challenging him for his pack and home or no longer afraid of him. I’m not kitty chow anymore! I do appreciate how he felt the need to speak in a supportive manner that I too would find someone. I mean would it be nice to find someone like that? Of course! Everyone deserves that person in their life, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen any time soon. I think before I can find the right person I need to learn how to accept myself. It’s hard you know. Just like eating. My god, being a prey animal sucks. I have to admit I do appreciate the look of horror on his face at my own living hell. With a nod I answer his question straightforwardly.

“Yes, I can eat animal by products. Milk and cheese is no big deal. I can have eggs too! If I couldn’t have my milk and cookies, or macaroni and cheese, I’d say shoot me and turn me into glue.”

Honestly, if Frost took away my disability to consume animal products I might as well be dead. There is no way in hell I could go vegan. No.way.in.hell. I refuse. I would find every damn possible way to be a different kind of Were. Like I don’t care what I’d have to do. Drinks gallons upon gallons of potions! Drink the blood of a different Were and wear their animal skin for a little bit under the full moon. Find my creator and stab him with silver stake right through that cold heart of his. If Satan himself existed, I would SO call upon him with the assistance of any warlock or witch that wished to help me. But he doesn’t. Or maybe he does and this is my cursed fate? Curse you Satan, hope your rot in hell. You know what is nice about being a horse though, I can drink alcohol, because meat isn’t made from alcohol. Thank God himself for that! I mean seriously. I can tolerate not eating red meat, but you mean to tell me I can’t sit home and enjoy a glass of wine or a good scotch? Yea, I’m underage, but that doesn’t mean I was some goody two shoes not having a dabble in alcohol! If I couldn’t drink alcohol I wouldn’t be able to enjoy this, clearly expensive and well-crafted rum. If I had anyone do me wrong and they were trying to make something better, I’d appreciate this bottle of rum, hell whatever he did to try to get back into Tetradore’s good graces...he’s off to the great start. I’m not quite sure how many steps it would take to get back into the Were-King’s favor. It’s when he begins to poke around a little bit on where my allegiance ties that makes me a bit unsettled. It’s not like I don’t trust him, but I’ve been alone that it’s, weird. Like a sore subject, but not really sore? I can’t help, but shrug slightly lowering my head a little bit, muttering quietly.

“Yea, but I cope.”

I mean it’s true. I do. It’s been a bit tough being new to all this and trying to adjust to this new lifestyle. I’m still not used to turning into a gigantic horse every full moon, you’d think I would be now, but it’s been a bit difficult. I’m getting better at it though! Work helps keep me busy so that lonesome feeling grows numb. I mean sure there might be some customers I don’t want to put up with, but I’d rather communicate with someone rude to me then no one at all. It’s hard to try to keep that craving down, to connect and be around others, but I have to. Everyone I even try to get close to just leaves anyways, so why bother going through it again and again? Tetradore was the only person I actually told about my loneliness, and I’m pretty sure I can hear in his voice an understanding. Working on the icing and pouring some new ingredients in, I continue stirring the mixture, keeping the rhythm constant. His invitation is met with easy silence as I continue to work on the icing. I appreciate his sincere offer, I do, but I don’t know if it is best for me. I mean joining my creator’s rival pack? I don’t feel like I’m being used, or being treated like a pawn by Tetradore. I just don’t know if I can trust others, especially predators. Not that I think they would eat me, but hey, I’m half horse now. With a half-smile I look up letting him down easily, but not without a little optimism.

“Well, I mean this is a predator’s lair, and the horsey side of me, is reminding me we could die here. It’s anxious and that isn’t your fault, it’s just natural I guess. I do what that though, being in a pack, maybe one day.”

There really wasn’t any other pack that I could just hop on board with. I wasn’t going back to Frost, but I guess some Weres don’t want me in their own. Maybe your creator has an invisible brand on you that marks you as theirs. I don’t get the impression Tetradore wants me in his own pack just to make my creator jealous. The one thing I don’t get is we just met! What did I do to show I was worthy being here? If it’s to give me some sort of pity offer, I won’t take it. If I’m going to join a pack, I want to at least be seen as useful...not some charity case. Of course, I doubt that’s why he was offering, but hey you never know. Besides, my horse-sense was tingling still, it still seemed restless being here. Uncertain about the icing I stop stirring and tilt the bowl slight for his review. Unsure I shrug and bite my lip, for a moment. It looks right. I mean it does so that is good.

“This is my first time making icing...and I think it’s okay, do you want to tas-oh, the cake is done! Go on ahead and take it out and set it too cool on the stove. We’ll play a drinking game until it’s cooled a bit for the icing.”

While he is busying himself with the cake, I continue stirring the icing a bit until I think it’s just about done. Yep, I think that’s about as good as I can make it. So, hopefully, this all goes well. Keeping the bowl there on the countertop, I grab our glasses and top it off with that very nice amber liquid. Bringing it to Tetradore, I easily hop up on the countertop, my right leg swinging casually, keeping my glass in my hand.

“The game is never have I ever. If I say something I’ve never done, and you did, you drink. You can either explain yourself, or you can just fire back. For example, never have I ever climbed a tree...and now you drink...kitty cat.”

Yes, I’m aware that it was a simple statement. It’s true I never did climb a tree, and I have a sneaky suspicion that the Were-King himself has climbed a tree or two, or three. Plus it’s best to start slow with this kind of game.
