The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Please don't punch me, please don't punch me.
In times of extreme emotions and stress, Darien would run on autopilot and lock himself inside his head, praying whatever was going on outside would stop or go away. In the middle of a mental breakdown, he remembers his gift, and he gains the courage to look at the drunk man and in a split second he decides it's not worth it. That the man didn't deserve to be calmed down, and Darien certainly didn't want to take in his hostility. A look of utter confusion and fear paint his entire expression as he stutters to come up with a disarming response. No, I don't want to go to the Hospital. He could make up replies and react the outcome inside his head perfectly, in mere seconds, but that's where they stayed. He felt this was gonna end badly for him.
Then, favor and fortune smiles on Darien for once. His big, blue eyes dart and meet their equal as a stranger steps in, and immediately (and ever the pretender himself) he sees this man was helping him. "There you are! I was starting to-to, ya know ... think you weren't coming!" He fakes genuine happiness, like he was seeing an old friend, and for a second he gives a 'thank you dear God' look..
Ever the silent observer, he sees a change in the businessman. As if he was being scolded by his mother dearest. It's rather impressive, and Darien is captivated by the entire situation. That, and the alcohol he had already consumed was finally taking affect and everything seemed more fascinating than it normally was. A weird feeling of insubordination overcomes him in this moment too, but that smile of seeing his bully whipped back stays on his face and overpowers it (only slightly). Then again, Darien felt small compared to everyone - it didn't matter who. He is completely unaware that he was feeling the effects of his hero's gift. His eyes look at just the right moment to see the similar smile on Sebastian's lips ... and he swears his canine teeth are quite ... noticeable? Darien's smile becomes coy as he watches that asshole walk off after nearly dropping a couple bills. He's not quite sure how much, a pair of 10s? A pair of 20s? It didn't matter, because the bartender was there like a vulture to take them and note Grey Goose.
As his new 'friend' takes a seat, he catches Debbie (now with a smile on her face) happily pouring their new drinks, Darien notes how close he was. And leaned in, as if he were ... interested? "I don't mind sharing anything after that. You are heaven-sent, I swear." He stares at the shot glasses, the small confidence he felt seconds ago slowly fading. In fact, he felt inferior to this man in every sense. Butterflies start to tickle inside his stomach. "Seriously, thank you." Without hesitation he reaches for his shot and downs it, only feeling it was rude not to toast or wait after he downs it completely. His face scrunches up, both from embarrassment and drinking in the vodka too fast. "I'm Darien by the way." He twists slightly in his stool to face his companion, but only a little and offers his hand to shake. "Do I look like I make friends easily? I mean look, I'm the most popular guy here in the bar."
His dry humor matches his rather deadpan face, but his eyes. They glow with good intentions and the warm sensation of the alcohol washes through him. His eyes give him away. That, and the sudden realization from his on and off looks at the man beside him that he was handsome and mysterious. Those butterflies multiple. A realization of being insincere makes him grab at his jacket, to try and hide the Hospital wristband.
"You look like an important man."
