North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city, the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high-class architecture. The pristine streets are paved with stone and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting - for the right clientele. In the North, every establishment is eager to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - whether it happens to be illegal or merely involves looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allows them the luxuries that the North provides.

there are as many truths as stars in the sky, and everyone of them different
perhaps that is the only real truth

To be without the light of the sun.... it would be a strange life. A half life, of sorts, for one who was so accustomed to it. I had never known what life was like in the shadows despite my recent immersing of the supernatural culture in Sacrosanct. I felt a darkness inside of me now that before was vacant yet I wonder if it is just loss and grief, crouched in the shadow of my own soul. It doesn't matter - not really. In the end I was still a witch and I still had plenty to keep my occupied. There were times during the bright light of day that I wondered what Dareios was doing. Did he slumber like the dead when I thought of him? Or was that just in the old movies? One would think I would have a handle on such information but in many instances I was terribly outclassed by other supernaturals - they had knowledge. Vampires, in fact, had many years to accumulate such.

As I climb his porch I find a half smile twisting my pink lips because it hits me. I know WHAT he is and yet when I speak with him, he ceases to be that dark creature of lore and instead is simply another person. Not to say that I have forgotten the first time we met and the leashed violence that seemed caged within him. No doubt many, many years of such a lifestyle had taught Dareios the lessons of life. Was the man he was now the same as he was before? I ponder asking him, playfully of course, whether he was similar to Lestat or Louis, but I shelve such a topic for a later date. I did not want to ruin our... occasion.. with some misplaced joke.

Three suited men appear silently around me but I am not surprised. I can feel them through the shifting of the shadows, shadows that beckon to me, that react to the very twitch of my fingers if I so demanded it. "Hello," I offer congenially, followed by my name, and they escort me primly to the doorstep. They lead me into Dareios' expensive home and I find myself relaxing a bit more than I thought possible. These were at least semi-familiar surroundings as I had been here before, but I still took in the opulence with a somewhat hungry gaze. I could have had such a life if I had joined the Coven in Scotland but I had other business in Sacrosanct and besides, my shop would boom. Is booming.

I hear his deep voice in the other room and offer a blazing smile to the security detail as they usher me through, all gentlemanlike. As I round the corner I grin at Dareios, my emerald eyes twinkling as I cast a furtive glance behind me to the backs of the men. "They are quite the gentlemen, Dareios," I compliment. I'm sure he grew tired of the encumberment of such a thing but it was necessary and besides, if one must have such a thing why not get complimented on the selection?

My eyes steal to him quickly and briefly skip down his figure, cut fine in his blazer and well-tailored look. "You cut a dashing figure in that ensemble," I state blithely, but rather than pinking from such a forward compliment, I merely smile broadly at him, bold. The same bold woman I used to be - I was only having to re-learn my skin once more.
