North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city, the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high-class architecture. The pristine streets are paved with stone and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting - for the right clientele. In the North, every establishment is eager to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - whether it happens to be illegal or merely involves looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allows them the luxuries that the North provides.

It's not the long walk home that will change this heart, but the welcome I receive after the restart.

It had been so long since Dareios had been peculiar enough about a person to want to date them. This was strange on many fronts. The first being that Dareios, by nature, was a social creature. He was incredibly loyal to the allies in his keep, and was naturally quite good at making friends. It was in some ways, a bit of a sport for him. It was an unquenchable curiosity. After the hundreds of years he'd spent on this earth, it was perhaps the one thing that he seemingly could not predict. People were so vastly different from one another. While traits and tastes can be similar sometimes, history and culture and connection were wildly individual. Dareios found how it all mixed together to be fascinating. Thus, his quest was never ending to meet as many new people as possible.

Nevertheless, the vampire was rather adept at walling himself off to others. He was polite and charming, so it was easy to play the part of a good listener and divert these friends from asking too many questions about himself. He had loved before. But that was a long time ago. The experience was too, well, intense and messy, and had some lingering consequences that still kept Dareios up at night (so to speak). So he never sought out that kind of deep, emotional connection again. Despite his hard-in-place discipline over his more predatory instincts, Dareios, too, could not trust himself without a doubt that he wouldn't hurt someone else again one day. He had hurt many, and for many years, before he was able to refine himself to the version most see today. It was a constant struggle, one he would forever be embattled with. Be it human or fae or whatever else, there was always risk, especially when both sides of the equation let their guards done.

So when Dorian admits that he tends to be drawn to vampires, Dareios offers him just a quick, but short-lived smirk and a nod of his head. He exhales deeply, settling into the back of his chair, and allows his muscles to slump his posture forward in a more relaxed position. "You work in politics? Tell me about that." Dareios says nonchalantly, pushing away the thoughtful compliments as his interest piqued about Dorian's backstory. "You know, we are looking for the occasional consultant on a few community issues. Perhaps we could pick your brain at city hall sometime."

Dareios allows his gaze to momentarily wander over the crowd in the restaurant, just as the waiter returned with their meals. The vampire's of course, was in liquid form. He smiled curtly to the server and returned to attention back to Dorian, almost ignoring the tall, thin chute of blood before him. "Sacrosanct does have its charm, I must say." Dareios says. He laughs a bit when Dorian explains the hazards he'd experienced with appliances. "Why don't you get your vampire to help you with that." He said with a somewhat mischievous grin, before taking a sip of warm blood.
