Oh, Arlo. He seemed so terribly concerned with her eating too many others. Why was it so wrong to indulge? After all, if they played their cards right they could live forever. What were a few humans at their disposal such a bad thing? Why could they not partake in the delicacies of not being the bottom of the food chain? Humans thought they were on top for so long, they walked around with a sickening arrogance like the world was theirs to devour, but it wasn't. For vampires (well, most), humans were theirs to consume, a delicious cocktail of blood, all possessing a unique flavour based on how they chose to live their life or their emotions at the time of death. You couldn't get more free range than that.
For the moment Petra felt entirely too comfortable to rest there against the expanse of his strong chest, for some reason it hadn't quite settled that was where she was. She felt like she was floating on a cloud somewhere distant, uncaring of the world around her or the damage they had bestowed upon this makeshift playground. It was truly a wonder the cops hadn't been called because of the big gaping hole she had made in the middle of the ground, or not to mention the structural damage to the office building. She shouldn't make a habit of that. What would happen if a dark hunter had stumbled upon them in these vulnerable moments where she seemed as harmless as a blood sucking kitten?
She peered at him, her expression almost innocent in her vulnerable state, her pale two toned eyes met with his. Vampires with powers like Sebastian and Arlo, they were truly dangerous to a creature like her. Somehow, they unknowingly tipped people's worlds upside down with powers that are far more powerful than most would even notice at first glance. How innocent they seemed and how world shattering it truly was for the a monster like Petra who worn off emotions. How strange it was to suddenly feel things, feel anything when she had purposely turned it off many many moons ago. But was she truly a soulless creature anymore? Her world was upside down and it was all because of the mind altering vampires tampering with creatures that shouldn't be tampered with.
Petra truly took a moment to think about his words. More venom meant more blood.. "Oh... but why is that so bad?" She looked like a lost little kitten, eyes wide and glittering. She seemed slightly confused with his morality and way of thinking, yet she could hardly care at the moment. She felt perfect after all, if only she could move she could have a little snack or full course meal. Yes, that sounded perfect.
She said she could eat at least 10 people and she wasn't exactly lying either. That hunger danced and mingled within her in a way that was completely foreign. She wasn't exactly used to being the one being drained. She was not the kind of woman that didn't keep herself well fed and taken care of. He said that her number of meals seemed like a bit much, was he getting out of their little deal. "Two really good tasting people and then we will see." By then hopefully she could find her own prey, after all taking pleasure in the hunt was game to the illusionist. He did promise her a meal and she wasn't on a diet nor was she going to allow him to be so stingy on her part of the deal. Oh no. "I would hunt them myself but I can't seem to make my legs work and I'm so hungry." How she nearly pouted, that bottom lip of hers protruding out slightly. At the very least she could speak somewhat coherently now. That had to count for something, even if she couldn't quite stand.
Petra had felt like she solved his life problems, just take what he needed, use his powers of teleportation to take what he needed. What was the shame in that? Or he could take the complicated route and actually work for it and share his naturally born gifts. She was sure that many would pay a premium to get this high. Well except for her, when she came to. There was no way she would allow her own safety or meal ticket in another creatures hands, no matter how honourable they were. Petra was not the most trusting, after all, being a trickster you learn not to truly take people for their word. She needed that feeling of control, being able to make sure she could ensure her own survival. It was probably the only reason why she allowed herself to become a meal, she didn't believe that his venom would take over like it had. The man didn't seem too pleased with her simply explanation, a sigh escaping him, she felt the unfamiliar fall of his chest.
No one had ever offered her a secret, it perked her interest at this new sensation. Petra wasn't the most trustworthy, she was a trickster at heart. She took pleasure in warping peoples own realities for entertainment, to play upon their fears or simply used them for her own gain. "A secret? I think that I do." How curious. What was he going to reveal to her was entirely unseen.
Her two toned eyes peered at him, the rest of the world seemed hazy and yet he seemed in hyper focus. So the man was a do gooder. He could have chosen to be good and simply take what he needed to survive. What was the harm in thriving a little?"You need to worry less." What a strange statement coming from her! Hell he could do the robin hood thing and just take from the wealthy.
"I was too good when I was human." She mused an almost mutter she didn't even know if she said out loud, trying to remember a life she once used to know. It all seemed hazy now. She laughed. "Just think a little outside your human box, it will come. Then you won't have to think about your next meal or money.." Meal, oh yes, she was starving. She laughed somehow carefree in the state, he mind not able to focus on any of her usual plotting.
"Its funny you don't know how to be bad.. I don't think I know how to be good." Those words fell from her in a humourless way, stating a fact she knew to be true. They couldn't be any more opposite and in this state she definitely didn't want to murder him.
He asked her if she had anyone at home. She don't know why she found it so funny, that he might kill her. That near giggle leaving her lips at his response. "Nope it's just me. I don't think its possible for me to make friends." She normally tricked them into doing something or toyed with their weakness. At least that was before the whole humanity debacle. "Do you see how humans treat one another, it's probably for the better." Now getting up was another entirely amusing issue in itself. She tried with little success, somehow she even ended up flopping on him on her stomach. It was rather intimate and yet he was just so terribly comfy to lay on. He looked her right in those two-toned eyes and she peered right back with a faint look of surprise. "Oh, hi." She said as if she had forgotten he was actually there. She could have just taken a little cat nap right here. It wouldn't hurt anything and considering she had forgotten to walk, why not? That was when he offered to help. She supposed if she was to eat her slew of people she needed to at least stand. Was she ready? I supposed now was better than later. "yes, I think so." She said closing her eyes tightly. With that teleportation power she had somehow ended up on her feet, it was almost dizzying. He seemed to be keeping her up as she swayed like a long piece of grass in the wind.
Opening up her eyes once more, she saw the world from a different view. It took a moment but she thought she could quickly get the hang of it. He mentioned that snack, no it was supposed to be a meal. She was certain. "I can walk." She said quite sure of herself. "I live this away" she pointed. "Wait.. no that's not right, live that away." She nodded firmly. Deciding to strut off which looked a little more than a stumbling mess and yet she felt she nailed it pretty well. Oh how terribly embarrassing.
"I live in the east, " She didn't need to say that it really wasn't her house, in fact, it once belonged to a victim of hers that gave her everything before he died.. from unnatural causes. It belonged to a man that looked so much like her uncle and acted like him too, that bar of his (now somehow hers) still remained unused. Oh how fun it was to make him suffer more than anyone could imagine. No one seemed to miss him which was unsurprising giving he was a nasty human (much like her uncle). She liked the house though, it was an old house, and renovated to modern standards, but it was the old parts that were her favourite.. She would have done it differently and yet it was home for the time being. "It's a little hard to find.." Well, that was sort of stretching the truth.
Now that was a question she had never answered. There wasn't a soul other than the one who made her, but he was very very truly dead. She really didn't know how to hold back, not with this venom that still flowed through her veins. It seemed to make her tongue much looser. They walked toward the direction Petra was certain her home was in. She called upon her illusions she show him the pieces missing in the fractured simplified story she explained. She showed him as people that stood there walking by, looking blankly out into a void no one could see. She showed him their faces and the way she found her parents dead in a pool of their own blood. She showed him the angry face of her husband her uncle sold her off to. " When my parents died.. my uncle took me in. He killed them so he could. He married me off to a wealthy man who paid him well for it. Sometimes I wonder who was worse.." She paused frowning, reminiscing in his death the story felt more like a fairy tale that didn't belong to her, hell it would be wonderful if it made sense at all in her drunken stupor. She knew she wouldn't share this much if she wasn't riding the high from Arlo's bite. She had never uttered her tale to a single soul. There was no telling how she would feel when the substance left her veins. "Turn here.." She nodded curtly, it was a busier road, more people. More terribly tasty people she would happily sink her fangs into.. Maybe she could grab one as they walked.
She continued on, the illusions continued. "My uncle was turned and had a wonderful idea of turning me so he could marry me off again and again for money. So one night he hurt, beat me until everything turned black. I don't even remember what I did or if it was his plan all along. But I woke up different and knew I could out smart him and play him at his own. Long story short, I won." That was when a smug smile found her features and her illusions all melted away to blood. Blood it coated everywhere, the streets, the sidewalk. People that walked by them were covered in it, the ones that noticed it began to panic and one woman screamed. What she didn't say was how many times she had to endure his cruelty until she was strong enough, until the blood lust lessened its hold on her. The blood lust had been bad, so bad, she lost track on how many people she slaughtered and consumed. She laughed coldly at her handy work, laughed as they squirmed. "But it was all worth it. It was worth knowing I could turn it all off, I no longer had to be a weak human." She sighed and all that oozing and shimmering blood was gone. That's how it all began.. all the mind tricks she had learned to survive in life had only amplified in death. It became a game, a game she never tired of, especially when she found her powers.
Her eyes darkened, her hunger growing deeper than before. She was dangerous and unpredictable, there was no doubting that. She had seen things and done things that would probably make his skin crawl. Not until now did she ever hesitate when conducting her games. "Do I get to hear your story, or are you just about making me spill my secrets." Now he better share something good or the illusionist would be less than impressed.
