despite the weather it gets better, you won't do this alone

The welcome from the Daray child was expected; how Tal had filled the children with such lies about who he was and what he did for a living. James had known since the day that Elain was born, she would never live up to Dark Hunter expectations, to his expectations. She was simply weak and instead of taking charge and wiping this earth clean of all the foul creatures that so resides in it, she merely wanted to help. Elain had even been gifted healing as her magical ability; how very odd that such a superior race would hold such magic. And yet, his niece seemed far more durable than her brother. She had not broken, nor did she spew hatred into the world and she did not posses that anger that so seemed to follow Lazarus wherever he went. It is that anger he sees roiling in green eyes, directed at James that gives the man delight. Now that was something he could work with. Anger could be forged into a weapon; Lazarus would make a good Hunter if given the right training.

James was aware how his training by Tal had been short lived, the Daray children losing their parents on that night so very long ago. The man had kept tabs on the kids over the years and it was clear Lazarus did not continue his training, nor did Elain. She was far too soft; anyone with eyes could tell that woman was not capable of hurting a fly. Such disappointment she was; it was almost sickening. Perhaps he could spark some sort of defiance in the young woman, or at the very least frighten her enough to take up the cause. He merely needed to show her why the other races needed to be exterminated; what better way to do that by sending her into a fit of panic? Such devious thoughts trudge through his mind as he regards Lazarus next to him, watches that rage roll through his eyes as that drink is placed before Lazarus and a matching glass with the same glass placed in front of him shortly after. "Is that anyway to treat your uncle?" He drawls out, reaching for that glass to take a sip at the liquor. "This is hardly what I would call a drink," he pauses though he takes another sip, pale blue eyes traveling to Lazarus.

"I have quite the collection of liquor, dated to be well over a century, perhaps you will join me for a family dinner with your sister sometime," James states casually, setting the glass onto the wood bar, a cool smile so adorning his lips though it doesn't touch his eyes, it never reached his eyes. "Though, I will admit, Tal didn't manage to ingrain much respect into you if that's the warm welcome I'm going to be subjected too," he says a bit dryly, though that unamused smile remains planted firmly on his features. "I haven't seen you since the funeral, given the circumstances I didn't think it a proper time to catch up," he states before sipping at that disgusting drink again. How foul carbonated sugary drinks were, why it was ever invented was beyond him, it made him feel like his teeth were to fall out at any minute. "As for why I'm here, I've moved to the city recently as I've heard some interesting tales regarding Sacrosanct; I've come to prove or disprove of them," he shrugs at his nephew, his glass dangling lazily in his hand.

"I've also come to get to know you and your sister better since Tal was very adamant that I stay out of your lives. I disagree, you and Elain are all I have left of my family and I would like to take the time to build this family once more," he states boldly. It wasn't a lie, he truly did want to build the Daray family again, however, it was for his own personal gain.
