The woman sighs heavily as she pauses along the street, her chocolate eyes glancing up at the unfamiliar signs that tower over her. She was on the hunt for a small diner she had recently eaten at and for the life of her, she couldn't remember the name or where it was. The petite woman merely remembered it being on this side of town. A gust of wind slams into her and she winces at the cold, she had remembered a coat today, though it hardly did much to combat the freezing wind that so tangled her long dark locks. Shoving her frozen nose deeper into her chunky red scarf, she jams her phone back into her messenger bag. The woman couldn't even find the place on her phone searches, it was aggravating to say the least.
The sun was just beginning to set and she truly hadn't meant to stay out so late, she merely wanted to have dinner at the small café. Unfortunately for her, luck was not on her side, and the petite Asian woman made it a habit not to wander around at night anymore. Not after that attack happened. It was not a comforting thought, especially now that she was all alone, yet, she couldn't help but picture that ghastly man restraining her, trying to bite her neck. He had missed of course and she had managed to be saved by a strange man who seemed to speak as if he wasn't quite from this era. Alexander was his name. He had been pleasant enough, yet, considering their circumstances she hardly had enough time to get to know him, though he managed to answer several questions of hers.
Pausing, light spills onto the sidewalk as she glances up at the door leading to one of the well-known bars in Sacrosanct. Gripping the strap of her messenger bag she hesitates. The last time she had been in a bar it hadn't ended well, the poor woman was a lightweight and it had taken her only two beers before she was drunk and making a fool of herself. Flushing at the memory, she takes a step forward as if she were going to move on, but she was freezing and she hadn't quite lost hope yet in finding that diner. Steeling her shoulders, she marches through the door and straight towards the bar where a woman stands, wiping at the counter. She seems to be rather taken aback at Miya's abrupt appearance as she quickly slings off her bag and drapes it over the back of her chair, followed by her jacket and scarf, revealing a cozy white shoulder.
The long and thin column of her throat is exposed to the warm air, the woman sighing in relief as she settles herself down on the stool, leaning forward slightly. "You wouldn't happen to know of a tiny little café on this side of town, would you?" Miya asks suddenly, her eyes a bit hopeful. "Do you know what street it's on or what it's called?" the bartender asks, pausing her administration on the surface of the bar. Her questions bringing an embarrassed flush to her cheeks, her chocolate eyes diverting to the counter, "No, I can't remember exactly where it was or what it's called," Miya responds quietly as the bartender apologizes that she is unable to help her.
Another sigh as she chews the bottom of her lip thoughtfully. Fine. She wouldn't be having a delicious meal tonight, that was fine, she would simply order something to warm up and call a taxi home. Settling on her decision she quickly orders a hot coffee, the bartender merely eyeing her in curiosity, seemingly surprised she was ordering coffee and not an alcoholic beverage. Miya hardly affords the worker another look until she returns with a steaming hot cup of coffee, the mug being set before her. Nodding her thanks and offering her a small smile, she lifts the mug to her lips only to immediately burn herself, "Ouch, ouch, ouch," she mutters quietly to herself before jerking it away, the liquid sloshing over the side and successfully burning her hand. Wincing, she doesn't jerk this time and merely sets the mug gently on the counter, retrieving a napkin and blotting up the mess she made.
Raising her hand to her lips, she sucks on the burn, brows furrowed for a moment, until the pain slowly subsides. Clearly, this was how her evening was going to go. Turning in her seat, she scans the bar, having never been here before, for her chocolate eyes to settle on a familiar figure several seats down from her. Dropping down at of her seat, she carefully moves closer, hesitancy in her step as she pauses just behind him, "Mr. Auerbach?" she calls quietly, not entirely certain its him until he turns around. "It is you," she exclaims delightedly, a breathtaking smile breaking across her lips. "How are you?" she asks casually, though she doesn't move from where she's standing, allowing him space, "Thank you again for walking me home all those nights ago, I really appreciated it," she dips her head. "Oh, so sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt your drink, I just wanted to say hello."
