He admitted that it was in fact a compliment which only made her that much more satisfied even as they continued fighting the beast. He seemed to be enjoying himself for a human. She didn't think humans were into the whole one on one combat scenario. They all seemed to stick to groups when they went hunting or they used guns to even up the odds better. This human was amusing to her because he ran right into the fight with the unfamiliar beast. She'd never seen anything like this before in the woods. Had he? He didn't look that surprised when he saw it, only surprised that it was here. What did he know that he wasn't telling her? She could care less about her own scratches and bruises since she always seemed to find trouble and they usually healed up by the next day when she woke up. She'd even gotten a broken leg from a hunt gone wrong before and two days later she was running on it. Being a Were was really amazing now that she knew what it was that made her so damn near indestructable. She felt invincible, not knowing that she really wasn't. She told him that he'd made her run from a good fight and he replied that there were plenty of beasts to slay. Her eyes widened, instantly eager. "You know where they are?" She was all gung ho for it if he would just point the way. She'd even go alone and not drag him into it if he wanted. He seemed almost amused that she eager to fight. He didn't know her at all if he thought she'd turn away from any fight, no matter how bad the odds. She didn't know many girls to know the usual reaction to fights but she was pretty sure Nadya would never turn down a good fight. She used to be in a pack that centered around a Were fight ring after all. Miyako maybe was less of a fighting type but Malia could sense a fierce protective instinct in her when it came to people she met and befriended. She could feel it the first time they met. The explosion threw her off guard but the pieces of meat flying was a new obstacle, one she didn't anticipate. Before she knew it, they were both covered. She couldn't help but laugh when a piece hit him square in the face though. As she asked for an encore, he only seemed amused, saying that could be arranged. She wondered if that meant he was planning on blowing up another beast tonight. She wouldn't mind. This time she would be prepared for it and dodge better. When he commented on the park, she turned her head to look, not expecting him to suddenly fling a piece at her. It hit her in the cheek and she gasped in surprise, snapping her attention back to him as she glared at him before cracking a smirk. "Jerk. I've got plenty, thanks." She said sarcastically. When she said something about vultures cleaning it up, he asked if she knew what kind of neighborhood they were in. She shrugged, her brows furrowed. "The kind you live in. What other kind is there?" She didn't know that he meant a high class neighborhood where dust on the swings is unacceptable. She didn't know anything about the expectations of humans. She hadn't been one for very long. He said that they should be thanking him since the beast would have done some damage. She turned her head as if fully expecting to see a group of people watching them nearby. Then she looked back at him. "They who?"She had no clue that he meant the town in general. Some phrases still seemed to go over her head. When she mentioned his wounds, he said that he'd had worse and she smirked. Finally, someone who didn't ache and groan over scratches. It was refreshing. He sounded like a fighter. Then he said that the silver stuff was his blood and that witches and warlocks have it. She tilted her head, confusion on her face. "What are those? Aren't you human? You look human, and smell human. Well, mostly. You can't shift, right?" She had no idea that there were other supernatural creatures besides Were's. She'd never met anything but Were's and humans before, especially since shifting human for the first time herself. He asked if she was okay and she shrugged. "Yeah, I'm fine." She said without missing a beat. She didn't even have to look over herself to know she didn't have anything majorly wrong with her. She was used to sore muscles and holes and bruises so when her adrenaline started to come down, she was sure she'd know all about it. It would be hard to tell until then what blood was hers and what was the beast's. Then he said not too bad for a coyote and she smirked. "Not too bad for a witch." She didn't know there was a difference between witches and warlocks in gender. She looked him over and scowled. "You're a mess, and you reek. Do you have a place to clean off? You're welcome to come to the pack house if you want. I'm sure Frost won't mind if you use the shower." |
