He could read the confusion easily in Killian's eyes when he brought up the secret phrase for the New Eden coven. It was obvious that Killian knew nothing of the coven which boded well for Christian since he didn't want to get involved with anyone he might see again. Maybe this time he could put some distance between him and whoever he found distraction with so he wouldn't have someone texting him for a second meeting like it wasn't already agreed that it was a one time thing. Between that Irish accent and those twinkling eyes, Christian didn't know what intrigued him the most about Killian. He was so friendly and open, so much a mirror image of what Christian himself used to be to the outside world. What Keith was to everyone he met. That was what drew Christian to him in the first place. He was just so easy to talk to, easy to lose yourself in. Before he knew it, he was addicted and couldn't let go. The minute he brought up the bistro Killian mentioned he worked at, Christian knew he struck gold. Killian seemed all too happy to talk about it, his very eyes lighting up like the sun itself when Christian mentioned it. He listened attentively as Killian told him how he bartended there and mentioned someone named Ms LaBelle. Christian felt his brows knit together a little at the name, wondering if she was a witch too or just a human he happened to work with. He had to be careful of the people he hung out with. The wrong words getting back to The New Eden could destroy him. He put on a smile though and nodded, eager for more information. "Is Ms LaBelle your boss or is there something else there?" His eyes twinkled roguishly, hinting if there was something romantic between him and the woman he mentioned. He was curious of Killian's relations and he needed to know if there was no chance in hell that he was having company tonight. Once that was answered, he brought the conversation back around to lighter topics to ease the mood. "So you must know your liquors. I might have to swing by some time and let you surprise me. That is, if you're also the type of bartender that lends an open ear to the patrons who need a little company." His brow rose playfully and his gaze darkened a little with more flirtacious intentions at the end of the sentence, wanting Killian to get the hint that he was interested. He needed to know if Killian even had that preference after all. Some men were just friendly in general so if that's all it was when he chose to stop and talk to Christian, he needed to know he was barking up the wrong tree. As if in answer, Killian's cheeks gave off a sudden flush and Christian tilted his head, concern finding his gaze. "Is the cold getting to you? I have a room inside if you want to continue this chat there." It just came out and really, Killian could take it anyway he liked. He did admit that the color on his cheeks was rather adorable. Keith had a thing for blushing at just the right moment too. It always made Christian squirm for all the right reasons. In confirmation of his concern, Killian started rubbing his hands together and blew on them. Christian could see the mist rising from his lips before he realized he was staring at Killian's lips. Whoops. He swung his gaze to the doors of the Witchery instead, moving his gaze back to the Irishman at his question. He nodded, his brows furrowed in concern again, his eyes softening. "Sure. Follow me." He led the way easily into the lobby of the Witchery, dipping his head in greeting to the woman at the desk who gave him a knowing smirk as if she already knew all his dirty laundry. Christian's brow twitched at the notion before he turned back to Killian. "We can hang out in here if you like...or go back to my room. Whichever you're most comfortable with." His gaze searched Killian's features almost in question of what he would allow of this encounter. Christian was all but making it obvious at this point just what he was wanting, but only if Killian allowed it. |
