North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city, the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high-class architecture. The pristine streets are paved with stone and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting - for the right clientele. In the North, every establishment is eager to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - whether it happens to be illegal or merely involves looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allows them the luxuries that the North provides.

Henry took another bite of his pasta, trying to focus on dinner and not the fact that he was completely uncomfortable in this setting. He didn't think Nadya would ever lower her defences and would always put up a fight when it came to Malia. He wished that she might understand that he meant no harm to Malia. Malia had been there for him when he needed a friend and he had been there for her. The relationship he had with Malia was a complicated one, but it was one that Henry cherished. He would never do anything to intentionally break the trust they had with one another. Different packs or not, he would always be a friend to Malia.

When Nadya swept Malia away, Henry took a moment to swallow a sip of his wine. Malia was the buffer for him tonight. She was the cushion Henry was relying on and now that she was gone, he was left with nothing to protect him from Frost. He wasn't scared of the other alpha, but he definitely wasn't comfortable being alone in his presence.

But it was when Frost began to speak that Henry realized why he was here. Frost had every intention to protect Malia's heart as well. He supposed that was his job as her alpha, but he was assuming that Henry meant some sort of harm to her. Malia had told him too much - the exact details of their relationship were still uncertain.

But the point was still very clear - Frost was judging him for loving another - someone who meant far more to Henry than anyone else in this world. It was starting to become clear that Frost did not know that he and Malia had come to a sort of understanding, that the relationship they had when he thought his boyfriend was dead, was no more. Now it was a plutonic relationship of friendship, no romance. "Malia has been a great friend to me when I needed one. But our relationship, I can assure you, is only one of friendship." Henry had no intention of sleeping with Malia ever again. He wanted to be her friend far more than he wanted a mistress on the side.

Frost continues, giving his warning about protecting Malia's heart. If only he realized that Henry wanted the same. "I only want the same for her. I care for her, yes...but I will never do anything to hurt her." He meant the truth. He has always been upfront and honest with Malia and if he were to ask her himself, Malia would corroborate his story. He only wanted her to be happy and Henry knew that her happiness lay with Frost and his pack. Even the last time he and Malia were together, he told her how much he wanted her to find love - to find that one person that made her happy. He wanted her to find what He and Sterling had. He even went so far as to help her find such love if she asked it of him.

But it was the last set of words that had Henry's eyes narrowing slightly. Did he think Malia and he were still having sex? It was two times - and two times only. In Henry's eyes, it would not happen again. "If Malia comes back pregnant, her pups will not be mine. I have made it very clear that I want her to find love - and that love cannot be with me. I care for her, yes, but not as a lover. We agreed that we wanted a lasting friendship so we agreed to not muddle it with sex. Besides..." He pauses a moment before he looks back at Frost. "I promised her no pups - and I have upheld my end of that bargain. If her pups were mine, she would have been showing by now." It had been months since he had last slept with Malia. While he had used a condom, he understands that condoms can break. But if she were to be pregnant, she would have to be several months along. So he highly doubted she was - then again, he had just assumed his precautions would hold.

Henry looked Frost square in the eye, letting him know that he was being very serious. He took another sip of his wine before he set it down softly against the table cloth. "Look closely, Frost. You and I want the same for her. I'm not your enemy." They both wanted to see Malia happy. Both men would protect her with their lives. They didn't need to be strangers on two sides of a battlefield. If they looked closely, they would find that they fight on the same side.
