Jack Hayes
Lay me gently in the cold dark earth
No grave can hold my body down
Despite his momentary lapse off... concentration, Jack was rather pleased with how their conversation had changed from a mere tarot reading to her line of work. Though the young vampire wasn't entirely sure she was adept at sorcery, he had a distinct feeling she may be more than he initially thought. A gut feeling that he always chose to follow, it was those same gut feelings that managed to get him alive through the first war and the second before he rampaged as a newly risen undead. A delightful time, a time he cherished, his war driven mind always seeking the best opportunity for destruction. He was adept at war and now that he had an eternity to perfect it, his choice of business would keep him on the frontlines without him actually being there. His destructive machines would do it for him rather than his own hands. A fact that never failed to disappoint him and yet, war was so much more different than it was just a few decades ago.
It took him far longer than he cared to admit to silence the ways he wanted to sink his teeth into her warm flesh and allow that blood to flow freely into his mouth, warming him from the inside out. That predatory glare, perhaps, the only thing that changed in his appearance. If he had been a quicker thinker he would have held his breath to help diffuse the situation and yet, it was so sudden he hardly had time to react. A touch of relief flares in his mind as she pulls her arm away, the man quickly washing away her scent with the refreshing liquid of the beer. He didn't particularly want to be on the front page of the local newspaper, Raging Vampire Murders Bar Customers. It was one thing Jack had gone to great lengths to keep his name out of the social world unless he wanted it there. Now he was known as the owner and CEO of a multi-billion drone company, most stories fairly vague as he liked to keep things under wraps.
Her comment has a boyish smile returning to his lips, watching the way she tilts her head to the side as she observes him. Jack was entirely aware that he would lose her attention if he didn't get to the heart of the matter soon, there was hardly anything keeping the woman here. He doesn't answer her question, though he's certain it's rhetorical, before her draws a wad of bills out and hands it to her. A knowing smile tugging at his facade as she takes the money and hides it away. Expected and yet, it was about to make his job so much easier. He can't help but watch her, his mind smug though he hides it from his features. She doesn't immediately decline him, something he was certain she wasn't going to especially after what he offered. His smile turns a little wry as he stares at her, his ice blue eyes settling in her face for a long moment before he continues, adding a bit of... suspense to their conversation.
"I'd like you to work for me, under the table," he begins, his fingers lightly wrapped around the bottle, his demeanor a combination of carefree and ease, as if he could careless if she accepted or not, "I want you to do all the jobs for me that others will not, specifically in the realm of sorcery and potions," he continues, carefully watching her face as to make sure he still had her attention. "Of course, I would need the highest level of secrecy and occasionally will need you to deliver them to me at my place of choosing. And as for payment," he pauses, prolonging the conversation, "well, let's just say Miss Dubois, you will be heavily compensated, money is not an issue for me," he tacks on, that boyish smile returning though there is an underlying... something that glitters in his eyes, giving him more of a presence than he had when he walked through that bar thirty minutes ago.
He was certain that she wouldn't deny him, perhaps change things up a bit but he knew that the offer of unending money would be enough to seal the deal. Jack had no intentions of using his powers so quickly after arriving in the city and yet, he wasn't about to let this opportunity slip away. And... if she ended up being nothing he wanted, it was an easy thing to terminate the deal or perhaps he would make her suffer for a few years simply because he could with useless tasks that did nothing but take up her time. A win-win for him anyhow. So, he waits, leaning back into his seat, his finger idly twirling the black ring on his middle finger, a casual movement that hardly drew the eye. Jack was already sinking into himself, slowing his breath so he could hold it and locking his muscles into place, not that it was noticeable but he needed to be fully in control if she were going to accept the deal with the devil.
