Those who knew the were woman would know that she enjoyed food. Such was hardly a secret that she guarded. It was indiscernible in every sense, whether she be in her human or feline form, but that was all thanks to her high metabolism as well as just how active she tended to be. She'd hardly been the sort to sit still for very long, but that was what came naturally to her, especially when one took into consideration that she'd journeyed as far as she had to end up here in the city she called her home. There was so much that she yearned to see and experience, and just as there were hidden trails to untouched ocean shorelines and towering skyscrapers to behold countless city lights after the sun went down, there were new and unfamiliar bistros, cafes, and food trucks practically begging the were woman to indulge her senses in. Her enjoyment of all things sweet, sour, spicy, and savory didn't stop at the locally made treats, either. Whenever she did manage to keep herself within the confines of her small townhouse, Ren was just as eager to try new recipes discovered either by word of mouth or mere happenstance as she prowled the aisles of a bookstore she'd come across on her explorations. Now, she wasn't the best cook in the world, and of course there were certain things she wasn't entirely confident in making an attempt at, but again, she was never the sort to pass up an opportunity should it very nearly fall into her lap. Thus far, the were woman has discovered a love for homemade no-bake cheesecakes, peanut chicken, and the authentic shredded beef tacos she'd ordered once at a Mexican restaurant practically tucked away in a corner at one of the strip malls she'd discovered near the southern district of Sacrosanct. She can remember vividly how perfectly crunchy the taco shells had been, certainly made in house rather than bought at some bulk store somewhere. And the beef had been cooked to absolute purrfection, having been juicy, tender, and full of flavor.
It had been a meal that left the were woman entirely eager in every sense of the word for the next time she would be on that side of the city. And yet, despite the delicious meal she'd thoroughly enjoyed that afternoon, there was no denying that one of the feline's absolute favorite things in the world to indulge her taste buds with was fish - specifically speaking, salmon. Fried, grilled, in a sushi roll, it hardly mattered.
So, when the young man in the stone-grey suit invites her to join him for a meal, one that would involve fish, it was natural that the feline would be elated at the idea of not only accompanying the one who had so captured her curiosity, but also getting to share a meal with him. It's only now that the were woman realizes she'd not eaten since her lunch break earlier in the afternoon as well, so really, it worked out fabulously! He leans closer to the feline then with arms outstretched and she waits patiently for the familiar sensation of being swept off her paws and into his embrace. It wasn't at all unfamiliar to Ren, and it was a gesture that she certainly didn't mind since it seemed to be almost second nature for humans to pick her up and pet her or carry them to their homes thinking that she would need looking after. She remembers well when a young girl had seen her basking in the afternoon sun at a small park, practically squealing with delight at the sight of the pretty siamese cat only to promptly ask her mother if they could take the feline home. More often than not, these encountered ended with a disappointed child who settled for simply playing with the feline or crooning sweetly as Ren would lean into their friendly pets and strokes. However, there had been a small handful of times where the parents had conceded to their pleading children, leading the were woman to be picked up and carried into a strangers' home where she would need to silently depart from once the household was asleep and the were woman was able to shift and see herself quietly out of their warm and welcoming home. For only a moment, the feline wonders if this would be where the fates would take her this evening. She wonders if this would be one of those nights where she would contentedly lounge in an unfamiliar home with her newest friend until the moon rose up in a starry sky above the city and she'd seize the first opportunity to slip out an open window or shift and exit silently out the front door (or back door depending on the layout of the home and which would be easiest). The last thing she wanted was to startle her new friend with finding a petite Asian woman dressed in whatever clothing of his she could find. It wasn't the most ideal first impression she wanted to make.
Well, regardless of where the night would lead her, the feline placed her unwavering trust in the familiar hands of Fate.'Maybe he'll take me somewhere special to him'... After all, he said so himself that the restaurant they were approaching was highly unlikely to make an exception for the unlikely pair. Besides, she could hardly blame them for denying her entrance when she was inappropriately dressed in more ways her companion had the faintest idea of.
As he lifts her up and pulls her to his chest, the feline purrs loudly in delight as his strong hand runs fingers through her cream and seal-brown fur. His masculine voice is smooth as he speaks to her, Ren offering him a bright trill in wordless reply as she blinks ocean-blue eyes up at the man.'And you have such a nice smile!'... Her whiskers twitch as she muses her wordless compliment, shifting her sleek frame so that it is pressed against his check, though those ocean-blue eyes of hers do not stray from his face as she does so. How charming that smile of his was, there was certainly no arguing that fact. Resuming his forward stride towards the restaurant, the feline purring ever louder as his fingers rub beneath her chin, she blinks at him when he speaks again. If she could have giggled, the feline most certainly would have.'No more than a lint roller couldn't fix, I promise'... They step into the restaurant, and it's unsurprising that the host would cast upon them such a glance of disapproval while some of the nearby patrons would also turn their heads or whisper to one another about the clear breach of policy. However, this does not bother the young man nor the feline who is nestled contentedly within his embrace as he continues to delight her with the gentle massaging movements of his fingers under her chin. She listens to the host's clear displeasure, glancing up to the man who holds her, ocean-blue eyes curious as he effortlessly provides the other man with his reason for disregarding the rules set by the establishment. She tilts her head as he speaks of her, adding with that seemingly abundant charisma a suggestive remark which has the host silent for only a moment before losing the dissatisfaction that had once held him rigid and replacing it with a courteous and much more willing disposition.'What lady is he talking about? His wife, perhaps?'... The men continue to exchange words before her companion turns away from the host and they are once again outside the restaurant. Only then does he reveal that the woman he had been referring to was whom he believed that Ren belonged to. Again, her whiskers twitch softly in amusement. What would he think then when no one stepped forward to claim her?
Offering the man another happy trill, her thoughts shift to the lie he'd told the host.'Why did you lie?'... This is what she wants to know now as those ocean-blue eyes blink slowly up at him, the rumbling of her purring far from ceasing even as she wordlessly wonders why he hadn't simply ordered the meal for himself and for her. Although she can't quite explain it, the were woman feels as though she was only just beginning to see the soul behind the charm.
