Tipson had just gotten off work, in his own sort of way. The first time he'd ever had an assignment that involved taking pictures with no thieving allowed he'd been mortified by such a request. Now he enjoyed it when such a request was made. It was fun peeking into people's homes, making himself at home if he knew they'd be gone long. The guys' television set had been massive but he hadn't been so stuck up as to not have several gaming stations along with it. Tipson had tried out a few games but sadly had died early on every one. That was fine though. Tipsy didn't have enough for video games when the entire world was one big living game.
Dressed in a dark grey suit and black pants, neither showing signs of unacceptable things like dust or fuzz on them, no stains or frays to be found. No, Tipson wore these clothes for show only and kept them well cared for when he was playing with the high and mighty class. A class of people littered with more deceivers, manipulators, and lifestyle assassins than his poor district could possibly have. The rich just did it with more style. Tipson carried a practical briefcase with him, inside of it were the clothes he'd worn once in the house, which included more casual clothing, and a pair of gloves. Inside his jacket was a reel of old-fashioned film. No one ever thought to check for that anymore. Smartphones and any digital item could be hacked into but he had the physical evidence. Admittedly, photos were on his smartphone also.
Tipson had a penchant for doing things that could get him into trouble. Part of the reason he'd survived this long was being good at paying attention to his surroundings. Then again, double-edged sword, it also helped him learn of more things that once more got him in trouble. Like listening to a guy suddenly talking in a lady's voice, and a lady reacting by screaming and running off. Now, near his house, someone screaming didn't even get someone to pause whatever show they were streaming but around these parts, people were less quick to be so noticed. Admittedly, the guy talking like a girl could be kind of freakish.
Tipson was sure he'd missed some juicy details but either way, the end part of the performance was interesting. Spying on people while looking at a tree or sign or other things was really stupid and tended to easily give you away in Tipson's mind. But something far more believable was putting down his briefcase to pull out his phone and start texting. Tipson was texting a response to a bit of spam suggesting who he should vote on just to kill a few seconds staying in one spot to see if the strange guy did anything else of worth. Tipson had a general dislike of all things supernatural but that didn't stop curiosity from wanting to peek in on fun events.
The moment the man mentioned finding another Tipson typed another few letters in a calm manner and put the phone away. If the guy was searching for random victims it was time to leave. The young thief picked up the briefcase even as the man offered him a rather charming hello. Well damn.
Tipson looked at the man offering Braxton his most charming smile, one that was well-practiced to promise honesty and naivete. Some are blessed with that apple-pie innocent face but Tipson had spent plenty of time practicing and perfecting his. "Hello sir," Tipson offered a polite nod, "just heard a lady scream and wanted to make sure nothing was amiss. The way she was running I imagine she was fine. Thought I'd heard another lady but..." It was easy to feign confusion, freaks had all sorts of weird abilities and this guy clearly had to be one to play that sort of game, "guess I was hearing things. Any idea what happened?" It didn't matter if the guy believed his lies or not, both would work for his act. Everyone lied, he just was letting the guy know either way Tipson had no desire for trouble and was happy to play dumb.
Tipson had thought of not asking and just making an excuse to leave. Somehow it felt like if he tried to make a simple statement and walk off it would be like the rabbit fleeing the fox. The guy had only scared the lady versus actually trying to hurt her and no reason for him to screw with Tipson but hey paranoia is a good way to stay alive, especially when too curious.
