death incarnate & night triumphant
He was seething, those shadows twining about his shoulders, his hair. He hadn't lost his grip on his magic in centuries, had always been able to remain calm, think logically and yet, when it came to Lani... all those centuries of training, of common sense, flew right out that veritable door. It took Andras everything within him to keep his feet glued to the sidewalk, to not stride back the way he came, through those doors and splatter that vile creature across the walls. Damn the consequences. What horrid things that floated through that boy's head, Andras had seen exactly what the man's intentions were for Lani. He would have done anything to get Lani into his bed, including the roofie that was stashed in his pocket. In hindsight, Andras should have taken in, should have embarrassed the boy further by calling him out but the Fae male was doing everything in his power to walk out of that restaurant without murdering someone.
Andras continues sucking down breaths, trying to cool the rage, fury still dancing amongst those dark hazel eyes as he focuses on the street before them. Mercilessly, its void of the usual crowds, only a few city dwellers scurrying past them. The shudder that runs through Lani pulls him slightly out of that rage, Andras pausing in the middle of the sidewalk to slip out of his jacket and wrap it around her shoulders. She grabs it, pulling it tighter around her before Andras slams his hands into his pockets, jaw clenched as he looks away, silently staring at the empty sidewalk. The silence is prolonged, Andras contemplating on whether he should return to the restaurant, and yet, the small breath she exhales sings his attention, his furious gaze dropping down to look at her again. Her voice is quiet, uncertain, as she thanks him before stating that she knew she should have said something. "Then why didn't you?" the words snap out of his mouth before he can stop himself, the anger still permeating the air around them.
Her question has him shoving that rage so far down, he could have sworn he felt the insides of his body howl in excruciating pain in doing so. It wanted out, it needed a release, he felt seconds away from obliterating the building next to them. Removing a hand from his pocket, he reaches to Lani, and though the wrath is wrapped about him like a vice, his hand is gentle as he tucks a stray curl behind her ear before gripping her chin lightly, watching her, even as the shadows still curl about his arms, "I would have you stand up for yourself, Lani," he growls dangerously, "Tell that man to fuck off," the vulgar word rolls off his tongue, Andras never having used such language in front of Lani before and yet, he's unable to stop himself. "You are strong, you are beautiful and smart, do not let anyone treat you like you aren't any of those things," he snarls softly before releasing her chin and shoving his hand back into his pocket.
He's silent for a moment, eyes watching Lani for a long moment before words that he's unable to shove down, come bubbling to the surface, "And would you like to tell me why you were out with another man tonight?" He asks, his tone is of nonchalance, but his eyes still burn with fury. It's the jealousy that causes the leash on his magic to slip, his wings exploding from his back with such ferocity, he has no time to stop it, to prevent the shredding of his white shirt. Those leathery wings flare, steadying himself before he tucks them in, grunting in surprise, he reaches a hand out and snags Lani's hand before dragging them into the dark alley, concealing their forms. He didn't need someone calling for a Hunter, not when he was so... volatile at the moment. Once they are in the cover of the darkness, Andras releases Lani, tearing away the rest of his shirt. What an inconvenience.
His hazel gaze finds her's in a second, Andras prowling forward, the Fae male more predator than not in that moment, "Tell me Lani, why were you with another man tonight? It was only a few days ago when you were throwing yourself at me," he says coolly as he closes the distance between them, until Lani is stepping backwards and her back is pressed against the brick wall. He doesn't touch her, though their bodies are mere centimeters apart, "Did you need a release? Is that what you wanted?" Part of him is shocked at himself, at the words pouring out of his mouth and yet, that jealousy was overriding every rational thought. "You should know that you can always come to me for those needs, not some creep who is going to roofie you to get you into bed."
