The man in the chair beside Ragnar was digging himself a deeper hole by the minute, but he didn't even seem to know it. He continued to spew out words of filth that had Erik rolling his eyes in irritation, but the patient Viking beside him just let the man rattle on. After a few moments, it seemed to dawn on the man that he wasn't getting anywhere with this tactic, and he tried to change things up a bit, denying that he did anything wrong. Only then did the sharply dressed former King speak, telling him in the same calm voice Erik remembered fondly from his days with the Saxons that the man stole from him. That voice had brought about so much doom and death in that same calm tone. Erik knew it well, almost as well as his own Maker's voice. As if he could hear the war drums himself, the smooth talker suddenly seemed to stutter, even as Ragnar continued, asking if he knew what happened to thieves. Erik couldn't help the curl of his own lips upon hearing that threat, knowing all too well it was soon to be a fulfilled promise. Ragnar wouldn't have said it, otherwise. He was never one to waste his breath on idle words. But the man still had a little false courage left, mentioning lawyers. Now, the tall Swede sighed in his frustration and crossed his arms. This should be over shortly. Ragnar continued, telling the man who he was and even the vampire couldn't help the quirk of his brow. From King to casino owner? Yet, it was still a place of power, still where Ragnar seemed at the peak of his comfort level. The man suddenly stood, throwing poker chips at the former Viking King before he turned on his heels and made to bolt, heading right for Erik, himself. The blonde vampire only chuckled and dropped his arms, his whole body suddenly straightening in the crowd to his full height. Even as Ragnar spoke in the Icelandic tongue, Erik was already blocking the man's path. Everyone else had moved out of the man's way but not him. The man collided with his broad chest and stumbled back. Before he could even fall, Erik had him by the shoulder and had turned him back to face the way he came. The man stuttered over his words, yelling for him to unhand him and bringing up lawyers and suing. Erik could only sigh. "You are quite annoying." His gaze then darted up to meet Ragnar's own even as the man tried to remove his hand himself. Erik simply grasped his arm with his other hand, twisting it behind the man's back. "Shall I silence him as well?" |
