North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city, the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high-class architecture. The pristine streets are paved with stone and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting - for the right clientele. In the North, every establishment is eager to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - whether it happens to be illegal or merely involves looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allows them the luxuries that the North provides.

"An ugly one. Or dumb. I like to think I'm neither so there's that." Blake answered with a chuckle, swishing the little that remained in his glass. While he might not be the most secure person in the room, Blake would like to think that at least he wasn't one of the types that attempted to cover the fact with false bravado or extreme humility. Shit, he had like five older brothers; there was no room to act with false bravado without one of them running over to cock-punch, titty-twister, or fist fights. Trust him, after a few of those, you learn to spend all that energy protecting the "goods" or planning revenge. Still, even with all the emotions and peacocking in the room from various groups and individuals, it was still pleasant to know that he had managed to snag someone's attention. A very pretty someone at that. Maybe he should wear masks more often, they seemed to help him.

Just kidding, his nose itched so much under this damn thing.

She wanted him to make a speech? She does know that he nearly failed public speaking in high school and college right? He hesitated, studying her eyes and expression for a moment, before mulling over his options. He could let her call him out on his inability to follow through, he could try to fumble his way ass over heels, or he could... do... something... Well, whatever he decided it should be quick since seconds were ticking by. Damn his big mouth. Oh wait- what was that one his uncle said once?

"Here's to a long life and a merry one. A quick death and an easy one. A pretty girl and an honest one. A cold beer â€" and another one!" It was a silly little toast but the light-hearted manner felt appropriate, especially considering his only other option was trying to stumble through something stupid because he was not a creative type. Not with words, anyway. Okay fine, it wasn't much of a speech, it almost felt like a diddy, but it fucking worked! Let him have this small victory. It might not have been what she expected but again, wasn't that part of the fun getting to know a stranger? Learning the surprises and twists that came with them.

She was perceptive, there was no way that could be denied. Blake wasn't accustomed to being the sole attention of someone so... intense? Was that the word he was looking for? She wasn't aggressive but she was definitely intense. It could be picked up in her bearing, her speech, her gaze. It was unnerving at times but more than that, it was intoxicating. More so than the alcohol in his hand. It was like he wanted to do something that actually seemed worthwhile to hold her attention buuut... he also was a bit wary of it all. Probably over thinking all of this, though. Oh god, worse yet, what if Jay's paranoia was rubbing off on him? Jesus Christ, that was the last thing he wanted to happen to him. He grinned, a bit sheepishly, at her when she teased him lightly, slipping a finger underneath his mask to rub the side of his nose. Damn, the itch he had been ignoring was getting worse.

"Handsome?" Blake looked over one shoulder then the other, as though looking for another person, "Where?" He chuckled quietly, probably more amused at his bad joke than her, "I can't complain, I have everything a person needs at an event like this: good drinks, better company." He had yet to pick his glass back up, electing to slow down his drinking at least a little bit, pacing himself. Well, maybe one quick sip from the glass for the terrible jokes.
