Scarlett Trivale
Fix my eyes
on you.
Guys had been a subject she liked to keep from her mind. They were trouble, their intentions hard to distinguish between actual interest and just trying to get into her pants. Scarlett could be affected by their charm, the way her cheeks flushed that rosy shade at Frost's cool words testament to this, but never had she let herself succumb to them. She knew she could not trust them, nor could she fully trust herself around them if instinct started to conflict with her better judgement. The Were was innocent to what their touches may bring, but not ignorant. She knew she could not allow herself to fall so easily, it was a weakness she couldn't afford because it would blind her and open up a hole in her defenses. It was about survival, spurning the love and attentions of those who would hope to capture her heart was casualty. That wasn't to say that Scarlett was heartless and would never open herself up to the possibility, she just needed time and the right person to come along and show her they could keep her safe in her vulnerability; that was hard to come by however.
With her recent discovery of Frost's telepathy, her mind set into work setting up a hypothesis in order to better understand what he was capable of and if there was a way to protect her thoughts. Emerald eyes watched for subtle cues, anything to let her in passed that wall of his, but he made it almost impossible. She did however note a bit of frustration cross his features when her thoughts did not focus on one thing. It was hard to tell if this meant anything, she wasn't able to read minds like him, so she had to do trial and error, make logical guesses. Maybe if she'd taken AP psychology at her school she'd be having an easier time, but then again, she'd probably still be just as lost with Frost either way. The walls he put up seemed impossible to get passed. Thankfully for her, patience was her virtue, and she was willing to wait a hundred years if she needed to. There had to be a way passed, and she would find it in order to get to his center and understand him. Understand why he kept people out like he did.
He frowns at her words about packs, his shoulders shrugging. She listens most intently as he speaks, not taking for granted anything he was explaining to her. A lot of what he says she already suspects, that instinct would play a major role in her ability to join a pack. It put her mind slightly at ease to hear that if she could adapt to living alone like she had, she would be more than capable of adapting to living in a pack. It had been perhaps her biggest fear, being a Were who was so broken, not even instinct could show her the way to adapt. Scarlett would have to relearn everything, change who she was, and the wolf wasn't sure she could offer that. He explains that she would have to choose who she was willing to follow, that a Were could not follow any alpha and expect it to work. Which ever alpha she picked, she knew they would have to be patient with her.
Silently she wonders what kind of leader Frost was. His cool exterior gave her little to work with, and so the best course of action would be to meet with his pack mates somehow, to ask them what they thought of him. Maybe he was an alpha she could follow, the person who could teach her to be normal. These things were to be decided still though, for there was also the other option in the west, the pack in which Nadya had come from and was led by her brother. Two possibilities to look into, and then the last resort of staying a loner. She didn't want that, she wanted the safety that was spoke of by pack Weres, the friendship and family. Scarlett would gain a lot from what she would give up, but the problem remained that she would be giving up everything she had ever known and a part of herself. It was a big decision to make for such a young girl, but by now she was used to making big decisions.
"I believe we do." The equine agrees to her statement that all alphas carried a similar trait. The chuckle that rolls through his chest is a pleasing sound she has discovered, it being a warmth from the icy cold he normally offers, even if it is brief. It was proof that the male before her could genuinely smile and even laugh, if she managed to get through enough layers of his wall for it to seep through. It amused her to think that maybe his exterior had hardened so much, that if he did smile or laugh he might just crack and break apart. One day she'd get it out of him and test this theory.
He is patient as he answers her question, something that does not go unnoticed. There is appreciation for everything he tells her written so plainly in her eyes as she watches and listens intently. It was reassuring to hear him note that living with the pack was optional, but that if she ever needed to she could live there. Whenever she joined a pack, a little bit of space may go a long way for her, allow her to get along much better with everyone if she wasn't forced near them at all times. She takes note of the names of his pack mates in which he has offered her while explaining their living situation with him. One day she may meet them, even decide she wants to live with them in their pack, so it was good to know their names at the very least.
He pauses for mere moment and then continues. Each word is carefully chosen and deliberate in their explanation of both the pros and cons of pack life. She deserved to know everything she was getting herself into in perusing this path for her life. She thinks quietly on the matter, finding her desire to live with others still driving her to put herself out there, take this big risk. She had not been detoured yet. In return for all he has offered to her, she offers him her own bit of information. "Six years is....longer then I anticipated." he mumbles with a frown. She offers him a small reassuring smile, her mind slowly trying to piece together why this information was so needed to him and also so concerning. "Again though, that was just me, who's to say it doesn't take longer or less time for others? And also, what if I had had someone to show me how?" She says, not wanting him to think that six years was the exact amount of time for a bitten Were to be able to control their shift. In truth, she did not know the true answer, only knew how long it had taken her. Scarlett does realize that he is asking for a reason, perceptive enough to pick up on small clues. Did he know someone who was just bitten? "If you know someone that was just bitten, maybe I can help. I may not know all the answers but anything is much better than the nothing I got," she says, her voice cool and sweet through a small smile. She didn't have anyone, there were no answers. She lived each day scared and confused and she wouldn't allow that to happen to another.
"It is unfortunate whoever bit you did not stay to offer instruction- although perhaps depending on the character of that wolf it may have been wholly fortunate." he says, earning a nod in return. Maybe this lone wolf had stayed, how would things be different? There was no way of knowing what would have happened, what the wolf was like. The only thing she knew about him was that he seemed to be running from something and she had the unfortunate luck of reaching out to help him, thinking he was a farm dog. He lashed out like any scared animal does, and for a moment she thought she saw regret in his eyes before he turned and ran in the other direction and was never seen again. He had changed her life forever, their chance encounter turning her already broken life into even more shambles. Despite everything, she did not hate the Werewolf that had bitten her. She wished he would have stayed to help but at the same time she hopes he found solace wherever he went. Maybe one day they'd cross paths again, maker and child.
He stops her from grabbing her wallet to pay, throwing some cash on the counter before leading the way out. She blinks in surprise at this gentlemanly display. Part of her appreciated the gesture, but the stubborn part of her, the independent part was a little irritated. She hated being indebted to people, owing someone anything that she could do on her own or take care of herself. She wasn't about to openly voice her dismay at him paying for her meal, but in her mind she knew she was going to pay him back, in some form. They would be equal or she would feel guilty, there was no way around it. Despite the internal struggle in her mind, she followed him, finding his company had remained ever pleasant as she walked beside him wherever he was leading her. The rain had ceased, but the threat still lingered in the dark, overlaying clouds.
Soon enough the Werehorse brought her through the gates of a park, long deserted since the rain had chased everyone out of it. A content smile fell across her lips, loving the place he had chosen. The parks in the city were certainly her favorite places, they allowed her a place to escape from the city, if only for a short time. They walk for a while in silence before Frost stops before a group of trees. "This is far more to my liking then the city. Do you think, Scar, you can make a storm cell of sorts, over this area? It is the wind I seek, more than the rain itself, can you create that? I would like to...try something." he says with a small smile, stepping away from her. She hums in agreement to his first statement, emerald eyes flashing to him with a nod for the rest of his words, letting him know she could do what he asked no problem. Almost immediately the wind begins to blow more at them, confirmation for him.
He begins to unbutton his shirt as he moves behind some trees to undress. She is silently glad he has chosen the strip there, as she would have been more than a little distracted in the presence of a naked man. Scarlett can feel the power flowing through her veins as she gradually allows the wind to pick up, holding back the rain despite how much she wanted to let it go. Thunder and lightning performed in the sky, a smile dancing across her lips as she watched the electricity streak through the clouds and quickly joined by the roll of thunder. Movement catches her emerald gaze back to the trees as she takes notice of Frost's equine form for the first time. Immediately her eyes widen in shock at the massive creature that moves towards her, the smallest hint of intimidation barely seen flickering in her gaze. Frost was far larger than any horse she had ever seen, in fact she was almost convinced he was part elephant. One of his hooves could easily crush her and there wouldn't be a single thing she could do to prevent it. "You got taller," she says with a small simper, amused by the fact that a man barely taller than she was able to become a creature so large.
Tell me when you are ready. the white behemoth says through the link that connected all Were's together and allowed them to speak to one another. She smirks ever so slightly, flicking her hand to pick up the wind until it is enough to throw a lot of people off balance. "Ready," She says through the howling of the wind she had created, not really knowing what she was ready for but she was ready to see what Frost had in mind. In return, he would get a glimpse of what she was capable of.
